Because it will lead more and more people to Game Pass where they don't have to spend 70 bucks per game.

The problem here for Sony is that Xbox got a fantastic service right now where you don't have to purchase day one exclusives titles, and you get them across PC and consoles, with cross-save and cloud streaming. And all that is up and running.

Right now Sony got enough massive studios to produce tons of great games, but when the Bethesda machine starts up Xbox will easily match them, and when you combine that with Game Pass that will offer all of this within the service, it's gonna draw players over to Xbox, away from Sony.

This lackluster PS+ shit right here is gonna get smacked by Xbox over the next few years unless Sony takes this more seriously and understands what they are up against.

Exactly. People on here think companies just get to dictate their margins and market share.

That's not how it works.

If you're up against a determined competitor with like 10x the financial resources, you're gonna get squeezed, one way or another. Sony are in a precarious position right now and need to plan their next few moves really wisely if they're going to remain the market leader.

Wow a way worse option than gamepass for the same price? Pass. And they didn't juice the lowest tier enough to make me want to sub, so I'm staying not subbed to anything Sony has.

So, if you already have PS Plus, you'll have to pay the extra for the premium service? So I'll have to pay another £50? I know they're migrating the PS Now service to PS Plus, so I'm assuming you'll have to pay the extra.

If that's the case, I'll just look around for a £50 PSN card for much cheaper.

Will you also be able to stream the PS5 games? Some of these PS5 games are over 100GB. Or is it just PS4 and below? There is a lot of questions not answered here.
Says extra tier is download.

The usual clowns in here I see already. No day one blah blah.

There was never going to be as Sony actually make money from big budget games, unlike others excluding Nintendo.
I guess I’m one of the clowns.

Genuine question, in good faith. What is the point of this service? A monthly subscription to play some old PS games? Other than that, there’s nothing new here…

So what is up with Classic games? Can i buy PS123, PSP, Vita into PS4/PS5 or am i forced to sub into this shitty expansive service?

Came to post the same thing about Live Service games

I don't think it's a fundamental difference in tactic from both companies, both make their money off live services. my outstanding question is whether sony's live services games go into this platform for free. if so, what happens for pc users and non-subscribers?

do not tempt fate do not contrain Wonder Woman's thighs do not do not
400 ps4 and ps5 games? That is more than double gamepass catalog.
Hahaha I take it you havent looked at the gamepass catalog since the day it dropped right?

Uh, what? My Xbox has maybe 200 games, most are meh indie stuff.
I take it you are expecting the 400 to be all AA and AAA titles on PSPlusPlus.

As an FYI just take a look at the PSNow catalog and assume Sony is taking its PS4 games from that catalog plus the 5 theyve listed in the press release.

This is trash. 3 tiers is just confusing. Devalues first party to the point where I will not buy first party games day 1 but rather wait for them to end up in one of the tiers. Idiotic Sony. Back to the drawing board and do better.

How are they in a precarious position if their games are selling like hotcakes, the vast majority of third party is played and sold more on PlayStation and their console are always sold out?

And there it is.

Honestly?It's weak.

Not terrible or anything. Anyone that had Plus and Now will seemingly save money, and this way they streamline acess to Now. I think their hope is that Now gets more attention. The only tier that is really offering something new is the most expensive one(Because of course). And even then it comes with huge caveats. PS3 games being cloud versions is the same as saying that the service doesn't have PS3 games.

And then you have PS1, PS2 and PSP games, which are interesting but still old games. And then the cherry on the top: Demos!Paying to play a fucking demo is too much.I know its a "trial", and they likely copied from Nintendo, in the sense that its the full game and you have a set limit of time to play to your heart's content, but its still a demo behind a paywall.

All in all, its a weak service that wont move the needle, if it will move at all. This is clearly aimed at the existing PS Plus clientelle, and won't be dealing any blows to Xbox and Nintendo.

Overall, I'm underwhelmed.

Cool, seems like I don't have to cancel my PS+ subscription, as they made the right decision to not include day1 first party games.

Pretty much the most we expected apart from ps3 games still stuck with only streaming. Bit disappointed but sony could have done alot worse. Will ps3 games forever be stuck to streaming or can sony eventually work it out? Also can we separately buy and download the classic games?

  • PlayStation Plus Deluxe (Select Markets) For markets without cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a lower price compared to Premium, and includes a catalog of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play, along with time-limited game trials. Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.
See, this is exactly what I want from a subscription service. I have no interest in temporarily accessing new games as I just buy the ones that I want to play when I want to play them but I really don't mind a subscription service for games from previous generations. It's the same for Game Pass for me, if they'd offer a lower price version for 360 and the original Xbox then I'd be all over that but again the idea of a subscription service for brand new games just doesn't interest me.
Strangely, Nintendo's offering is actually closer to what I want from a subscription service although they are clearly lacking in other areas.

People Didn’t know ps now existed and it wasn’t available everywhere. This is a rebranding and a sign that they’re investing more on their subscription service.
The clowns showing concern here are just clowns.

Dunno where you're looking, site shows 453.

That 453 includes Original Xbox and Xbox 360 titles, the 400 games is just PS4/PS5, as per the article title this service will offer over 700 games including older platforms like the 453 figure does.

Not that I think dick measuring over sheer quantity is that important, but if you're going to compare numbers at least get it right.

Of course, it's an impressive amount of games, but against new triple-A games on day one, it's nowhere near enough. New games are always a lot more interesting and create more hype.

I love PS Plus and all the free games, but just this last fall I got Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite day one for no additional cost. That blew away anything I ever got from PS Plus.
I'm sorry but no one expected new games in there day one.
If you guys did...you played yourself.

Sony will never do that while their games seill millions of copies day one.

It's not though. As many have said since the brginning. Jesus Christ...

We all knew already but It won't stop fanboys from trolling. I do expect sony to put their games in the library like a year after release though and maybe in the future their live service games will launch on the service. Their is a longer term plan here.

Very very cool announcement and these Plus tiers make a lot of sense considering Sonys dominant position in the market.

- Jim is spot on about the level of quality in games dropping if all first party games went day 1, considering the rising cost of game development you need to charge the relative value for a product it’s basic economics. Take a look at MS first party games On Gp and the quality delta compared to Sony 1st party paid is significant.

- I’d imagine first party games will come to PP but after some time , this is essentially the Disney plus model , you purchase your game when it releases but it comes to the service in 6 months/ 1 years time best of both worlds. Those who want can pay for the game and play it on release those who can’t afford to , get a trail and can wait until it comes to the service.

- The price point is highly competitive vs GamePass and 20 less than an yearly sub if I am not mistaken.

- considering Sony market share third party publishers who thought GP was a great way to expose games to a wider audience will have a much larger reach on PP and I’d imagine some nice deals are in the works.

- Lots of indies and 3rd party games will almost definitely launch day 1 on the service, publishers etc will be falling over themselves to get the games they have on GP on PP.

Excited for the future of this and the added competition!

GamePass copy that costs more and gives less…
I don't think it's worse, both are lame at same level if you ask me.

This shit is too pathetic tbh, i'm really disappointed on Sony that are following Microsoft footsteps, instead of following their own strategies and ideas like they always did since the beginning of time, somebody need to fire those clowns heads and move Sony HQ to Japan.
