All these knee jerk reaction & hot takes about Switch 2 will not mean a thing once Just Dance & Switch Sports use the Switch Camera

When these little party games get pulled out at social gatherings & over the holidays it's over it's going to be Wii all over again.

1st thing I thought of during the reveal of the 'C' button and group chat with the camera.........how many dick and tits pics will be showing up

....not to mention racist crap and drugs.

They should have incorporated the camera in to the top bezzle of the console like on a phone and had it able to activate when the Switch is docked.

That way everyone has one and there's no dildo sat next to the Switch with a wire sticking out.

The camera makes it very cumbersome and removes the ease of docking in and out.

The camera reminded me of the Eyetoy on PS2 in terms of quality and the social features of the PS4.

Nobody gives two shits about camera stuff. Nintendo are creatively bankrupt at the moment.

Of course, it will be fun for some, like everyone likes their picture taken in funny moments...

but for you to say that it's going to be a cultural phenomenon like the Wii, you're definitely cracked in the head.

yes I was hoping to see this somewhere by the end of the presentation, disappointed

System is a bit bigger than before so I'm not sure about comfort, but surely they could make it work. I actually enjoyed LaboVR as a toy... even spent several hours building a fairly complete bowling game inside its game creation tools, with elementary scoring based on knocked pins etc, good times.

I'd buy their BOTW/TOTK upgrades if it let me put them in a headset with that framerate and proper lenses to use the full screen size/resolution.

I thought the same thing... they even designed the switch to stand straight up in the dock, which is rare, and the top pops out over the dock. Only other dock I know that stands vertically for any handheld gaming device is the analogue pocket others are at an angle.

btw, how do people playing in handheld get involved with videocalls? They just don't? it has to be in desktop mode? I think it's dumb, as I'm pretty sure most people use their switch in handheld mode.

You're assuming people are firstly going to buy the £400 console and then the £50 camera on top and then another £50+ for these games.

The Switch's price point was always a huge factor in its success alongside it being revolutionary for the handheld space.

This has neither of those two selling points. Just pushed a lot of casuals and families away immediately.

Dancing with low frame rate video screens of your friends. Pretend your dancing better than them because your smooth and they are all janky.

yeah, it's just not happening.

OP is saying this is gonna be like the Wii... this is like the Wii, but you'd have to pay an extra $80 for wiimote, not even included in the box.

Again, it's just not gonna happen like it is in OP head.

You don't remember the Wii Fit Balance Board or the Motion+ add-ons?

Also this is Nintendo they will release a new model with the camera built in when the price is right.

Do I remember them? I still use them regularly. Wii was lightning in a bottle, something brand new. There is nothing new or innovative here.

Built-in or not, it's welcomed, but revolutionary it is not.

No doubt this camera will be locked only to your friends list. I highly doubt Nintendo is going to let this camera be used in public lobbies or even public games.

Of course it's not revolutionary I had Eyetoy , PlayStation Eye , Kinect & PlayStation Move but the thing is this is Nintendo they will make the right games to show it off & they have the right user-base for it so even 3rd party devs will use the features.

Thing about the wii and how it gained such widespread appeal wasn't because of the existing userbase/fans. It was the parents, grandparents and children all co-mingling. No way an optional photo in existing game genres can do the same thing. This is not even debateable imo.

Unless a peripheral is included in the box, then is has no chance of getting games that uses it to max of capabilities. Even when it's in the box, it's not guaranteed to be successful.

Look at the Wii U gamepad... it was crap for dual-screen gaming, having to look up and down all the time. We've had cameras for years, we know what we're getting. Yes, some fun can be had with the right software, but I genuinely feel that nintendo don't see it as a gaming-controller-redux, but more as a simple communication device and slight enhancement to existing games. Maybe a few eshop games will be made for it that requires the camera, but that's it.

If they were going all-out on the camera... they'd do so from launch, not mid-generation.

This is all speculation though. We'll see in time.

I'll back up OP and say this one thing. The original Xbox 360 Kinect was the most perfect device Nintendo never used. Could you imagine Wii Fit, Switch Sports, Arms, Dance Central, Wave Race, Just Dance, Mario Party Kinect, Nintendo Ring Fit Kinect versions!?

The original Kinect was perfect in its simplicity. Xbox One version ruined it.

Side Note…i bet within one hour of Launch with Switch 2 camera. Some OnlyFans person will have an account where for a "nice donation" you can play Mario Kart with them in the nude.

If no one creates an app or game called Nintendo Fans that requires the camera

Then what the hell was the point of it?

Wii U kinda put themselves in the way of danger by seeming like a tablet that was pigeonholed as a console controller.

Wii times are never coming back.
I can see most of the gaming people I know not wanting to do this even if they were payed to.
And I'm pretty sure Nintendo Karen's rooftop Mario Kart sessions in portable mode with separate Joycons never happened in real life, too.

Sounds promising, let's just hope the camera can share more frame per second than what we saw when using video chat. That was maybe 5 to 10 image per second.
