Am I the only one enjoying Gears/Forza/Halo trinity?

My current Microsoft Trinity is Halo, Sea of Thieves and their RPG devs (Bethesda, Obsidian and InXile). Forza is a great series, but I always preferred the Project Gotham series to Forza. Gears hasn't been really good since the original trilogy. Halo has issues, but MCC is great right now and hopefully Infinite gets its act together. New management is in place at 343, so we have to see if they can get their act together. The new Winter update for Infinite looks promising.

I'm typically all halo and nothing but the halo (shocker). I'll delve into other games on occasion. Of course that will change a bit when I finally get a switch lol.

I like them all. I didn't love that Gears with the open world sections (4?), and I couldn't finish Halo 5, but apart from that, none of the franchises have missed for me.

I'd rather all those studios make something completely new.

I think it's extremely clear that both the halo and gears devs aren't very passionate about churning out a new chapter of a series they never created.
I don't blame them either. You have to make it feel new, without making it feel too new.
Plus fans of the old games have expectations that cannot be met because nothing can beat nostalgia.

Gears went to shit. FOMO skins, the game lacks the weight and impact of previous Gears titles.

Halo went to shit. Just watch the Youtube videos where the community just dislikes infinite and hates on 343i.

And I don't play Forza, I'm not a car person.

So 0/3.

Of course, they are great franchises, but it's really Gears 4 and 5, Halo 4 and 5, and Forza Horizon 4 and 5 where you start to notice issues. You are playing the best bits right now.

It that Frank O'connor still around?

I've been a pretty hardcore Forza player since 2, but at this point I have quite a few criticisms of the franchise.

Horizon, especially, is one of those games that I think most first timers are going to have an awesome experience. For me, after 5 entries, it's pretty stale, and the constant time-based carrot dangling rewards got tiresome after 4.

I'm excited to see what T10 does with Motorsport, because 7 was pretty bad at launch, and got slightly better by EOL.

But both Horizon and Motorsport haven't gotten appreciably better since 3 and 4, respectively.

Nothing wrong with that OP. Amazing games with lots of replay value. Halo infinite was underrated and the Forza games are the best racers in business. Gears MP is great but the last gen campaigns can't beat the original trilogy.

Gears 5 is kinda boring in comparison, Halo Infinite is nice - the campaign as a whole, and Forza was the best of this bunch

I used to enjoy these franchises when was Halo 3 - Gears of War 1/2 - Forza Motorsport 3/4.

Those franchises have gotten worse now, no Forza Motorsport has matched 4, no Halo has matched 3 and no Gears has matched 2/3 either.

So i moved on, I got a full time demanding Job (Developer) and many other stuff do to, i stopped playing mediocrity.

Exactly right. Nintendo thrives on first party in ways Microsoft and Sony will never match. The vast majority of Xbox and PlayStation gamers spend more time playing third party games than first party. First party is important, but the top sellers for both Xbox and PlayStation are largely the exact same games every single year with a couple of first party exclusives typically in the mix.
Sony first party might not sell on Nintendo's level, but let's not pretend it is in the same category as MS either

People are increasingly boiling down to playing just 1-3 games, especially if developers keep adding stuff.

If Fable turns out good, that's a good 4 pillars to have. Assuming Halo has nowhere to go but up.

Better cancel your Game Pass membership then.
There's plenty of stuff on Game Pass that looks good beyond the HGF trinity. Plus I'm on the trial price for this month so I'll decide what to do nearer the time when it comes to renew.

There is millions of us, hence why they keep making them. :)

Gears 4 & 5 are probably my most played games ever.

& I've been loving my time with halo infinite & Forza Horizon 5 :)

Super pumped for the next gears game.

But I'm also excited for the new ips & fable's return :)
This post was definitely written by an A.I

Forza Horizon games got me back into arcade racing genre. There is nothing that even comes close to the quality and fun you get out of them. FM is not really for me, but I used to enjoy one of the first ones way back in the 360 days.

Gears are fun games. 4 was merely OK, but 5 improved on it and I think it finally had a better grasp of its new characters. Hivebusters is a must.

I can't say I'm some huge Halo fan, but ironically they are one of the very few games that I have played through more than once. And it is quite possible that Infinity is my favorite campaign so far.

They are all top quality games despite what some people say here.

I enjoyed the last Forza horizon but there is only so much car racing I can take. Already finished Gear many moons ago and not a fan of the Halo franchise anymore.

Halo is about the only one of those I like, and even then I only played those eventually in the MCC (after it got all its patches/fixes). Though I haven't turned down a playthrough of co-op of Gears 1-3 with my friends in the past. I just don't care for Car games and Gears's artstyle is just not to my liking at all and makes it hard to get into.

Back when the 360 came out I was more interested in the third party exclusives like Mass Effect and Bioshock. Of course they were ported later but they were the system sellers for me at the time.

Forza Horizon has never been better.
What you mean ruined?
Granted some of the "festival vibe" of the prior titles isnt quite there, its still the current gold standard for arcade racers.

After the homologation debacle of Forza Motorsport 7, I cant imagine Turn 10 will fuck it up with Forza Motorsport 2023.

Halo Infinites biggest mistake is lack of content.
The gameplay loop is still amazing, weve just gotten so accustomed to maor moar content that if a game launches without 10 million cosmetics and 100 thousand weapons/maps its considered bad, once Forge finally hits and we get more maps and gameplay modes you'd be hard pessed tor call it ruined.
The campaign isnt gold standard for FPS titles but its still a really really fun romp.

Gears of War 5 MP is amazing, the open world sections of the campaign are purely fluff and I honestly dont know why they would have included it, without the wasted time dong all that traversal shit if you just play the campaign as a straight run, its still an amazing shooter.
I replay the entire Gears collection every year, and people who say it hasnt evolved have to be missing something cuz Gears 4 and 5 are so smooth they are well beyond Gears 3.
Gears 2 is still my favorite but Gears 5 is a hell of a good game.
I disagree, FH has zero sense of progression anymore and has gone from one of my favourite series to a big fat meh. I'm hopeful for Motorsport though

I think outside of Forza Horizon, all three franchises peaked during the 360 era. I'm hoping Forza Motorsport 8 captures the same spark as Forza Motorsport 4 (especially with the career mode) though.

Like what you like.
Just don't turn around criticizing other publishers or console manufacturers for rotating the "same thing" (that label having varying degrees of accuracy) over and over again.
