Amazon finally cancelled Mighty No. 9 3DS pre-orders

Over a decade ago, a game called Mighty No. 9 was announced. It was intended to be a spiritual successor to Mega Man, a franchise that Capcom wasn’t really doing much with at the time. The Kickstarter campaign did succeed, with versions on PC, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and consoles planned. However, things quickly unraveled for the project.

Ultimately, the game was delayed multiple times and when it finally released, it was deemed a failure. In fact, the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game never happened. Nevertheless, you may be surprised to learn that Amazon had still been accepting pre-orders for the 3DS version 12 years later. As of this month though, that is no longer the case. Amazon has finally cancelled pre-orders for it.

I met Keiji Inafune in person and I can corroborate that he is a scammer and liar. In defense of the game... Call was a nice character, but Roll is so cute.

. And annoying, because he supported the project and wanted my name to appear in the credits... He NEVER did it. From then on I never backed another Kickstarter project.

I bought the game on PC, but never finished it. It wasn’t terrible, just mediocre and not a worthy Megaman clone.

It’d be funny if someone actually ported it to 3DS just because.
bad take. I played the demo on X360, and it was a turd on that console but it was still fun, so I bought it on Steam and finished it. Challenging, lots of nuance, great game.

A massively disappointing game for me, and a painful lesson to never back a game on Kickstarter again. I feel dirty for being fooled so easily and spending all that money.. On well. It was a long time ago.

Mighty No. 9 was such a disappointment. I regret backing it on Kickstarter. Game just felt so incomplete and inadequate too. Now, I have back other games on Kickstarter that I DON'T regret:

  • Bloodstained
  • Blasphemous
  • Mariachi Legends
Bloodstained literally just finished the last DLC of the game and they've been very active. Same with Blasphemous when it came out; no regrets.
