Now if we can get some gpu calculated physics solution to work on both nvidia and amd's cards. Next gen console games should have some sweet ass physics too if they are using something derived from something in the 7000 series or better (minus the Wii U of course).

Rumor has it that the Wii U has an AMD card that's been developed in parallel with their mainline series for many years, and will end up equivalent (and better due to being a console card) to the medium end/high end cards of the 7000-series.

Don't think I want to give up all the nvidia driver level goodies like AO and sparse grid AA to go with AMD again. Unless the cost to performance ratio is unbelieveably good.

Unless I hear something about ATi rebuilding their driver architecture from the ground up, I will never buy another videocard from them ever again. I've had a Radeon 4870x2 followed by 2x HD5850s and it's always the same damn problem of hoping and praying that they will release working drivers in the 2-4 weeks following a big game's release... I want to play the games I buy the moment I buy them thank you very much.

Medium-High end? Not.gonna.happen.

Yeah, I am trying nVidia next cycle as well. There is no excuse for AMD not working with game pubs and getting prerelease code to get their drivers nice and solid. They've failed on almost every single major release I've bought this year.

Unless you count the driver problems they've had just this year, with Dead Island, and Crysis 2, and Batman Arkham City, and Battlefield 3, and RAGE...want me to keep going?

Yeah, keep on going, half of these games didn't have any problems unless they were sponsored by Nvidia or built into OpenGl. Nvidia had problems with BF3, Dragon Age 2 and Deus Ex.

Still on my 5850.

Is been so so with support on drivers, first there was the grey screen issue which took months to solve, rage support took a while. But apart from that its been a rock solid card. Running the 11.11b drivers everything rocks.

I read Nvidia would be unveiling in December/January too (rumor), so will be waiting on that.

Regarding shit ATI drivers same could be said for Nvidia, prior to switching to ATI for the DX11 range had a lot of problems with Nvidia. Goes either way on the Driver department.

There are games with nVidia specific issues but they are far more rare and generally far less severe.

Excellent. Wont be buying one of these, but the release should push the prices down on some of the more powerful cards which currently exist.

Just want something powerful but quiet and I'll be a happy man.

Medium-High end? Not.gonna.happen.
It's unlikely, sure. And I don't expect it. But the last time Nintendo and AMD/ ATI teamed up to design something basically from scratch, the result was the R300 series. And that went really, really well.

My 5770 from 2009 has served me incredibly well, playing every game I have thrown at it without a hitch.

Excited to get a significant upgrade though for my PC!

Problem is that they want to work with the publishers but their sponsorship budget isnt anywhere close to the one that Nvidia has, mainly because AMD's in a tough spot $$$ wise.

after the bullshit that i endured with you rage you couldn't pay me enough to get another amd video card. When are they gonna get their driver quality up to Nvidia's?

LOL@that. What rumor is this? Neogaf Wii U fans wishful thinking rumor?

Next Xbox will do well to get a medium high-end 7000 series (though, it depends on time frame, 8 or 9000 series more likely imo since we're looking at 2013-14)

What issues with AC? You mean the borked game causing problems for everyone?

I don't understand what you're saying here. If game reviewers can get prerelease code a month or two in advance, why can't AMD?

Maybe with these I can hop from my 4890 to a cheaper 6XXX and get rock solid 1080p in every game. All I really need for now.

I've been really looking forward to upgrading my 5850 but I'm going to wait and see what nvidia has to offer. I haven't had too many issues personally but, there just seems to be better tweaking options on nvidia's side of the road.

I have an HD4870 and my next card will be nVidia.

I haven't had driver problems really, but AMD as a company seems to be on the way down, and nVidia cards get that exclusive PhysX special effects option that looks so pretty.

That said, I have no idea when I'll even bother to upgrade. My C2D E8400 and HD4870 are still playing the games I play at high enough settings. I may consider just upgrading my GPU next year if I find I need it. Sure it'll be held back by my CPU but games are still way more GPU heavy so I should still get a big performance boost.

Add LOTR: War in the North & Saint's Row 3 to recent releases completely bonjaxed on ATI cards.

I honestly can't recommend an AMD card to anyone for the foreseeable future, they're going to have to do an awful lot to win back my trust.

TWIMTBP can do things.

The fact that Nvidia actually invest a significant amount of resources to ensure PC releases run great on their hardware can never be levelled as a negative against Nvidia. AMD's hands off approach simply does not work.

i bet whichever nthing originally came up with this rumour had his dick in his other hand as he typed it.

I'm waiting for Nvidia this round, like others have said, AMD completely dropped the ball on drivers this year... and it just seems to be getting worse.

I'm done with ATI, over the last 6 months nearly every new game I've bought has had ATI exclusive issues.

The hardware is there but fuck sakes their drivers are so awful. I'm chomping at the bit for nVidia to release the 600's so I can chuck this 5870 in the bin.

Learned my lesson already with ATI. Love to support them, make great hardware, but their drivers are always a problem. Sticking with Nvidia from now on. Hardly have any issues with drivers and Nvidia updates more frequently. Green team, best team.

It's more like certain games come out broken and AMD fixes them with drivers after the fact. Usually within a few weeks. So either the devs don't care about the issues during pre-production, AMD doesn't help them until after release, or both. In any case, it has to stop and I'm holding both groups accountable.

I initially purchased a ATI/AMD 6950 2GB a month and half ago for a great price considering the performance and the ability to flash the shaders (Bios switch). A week and a half later, I spent an additional $80 after returning it and buying a GTX 570. I'm probably never going back to ATI/AMD cards -- 570 is one of the best cards I've ever owned and my first nvidia card. Had a 5770 beforehand.. it was good card, don't miss though.

No, we're talking exclusivity deals with programs like TWIMTBP.

Same. I have a pair of 6870s right now. Never again.

I can't wait! I'm not sure if I'm building a PC next year, but I really want to see this anyway.

I had a 4070x2 and I had problems with FF XIV.

If a 4070 existed, I'm sure it would have problems with everything.

Medium-High end? Not.gonna.happen.

Even low-end would destroy current consoles. :lol

The low-mid-range would be awesome! However, that rumor is wishful thinking.

Nice. I look forward to the price adjustments to follow suit.

Prior to last October, I was able to defend their drivers, but not anymore...

Man, I'm surprised at all the AMD hate. I've been running my 5850 since launch without any issues. I've been holding off on upgrading to the 6xxx series, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the 7xxx isn't a flop. I still believe in you, AMD!

Maybe, provided you ignore OpenGL support.

Which most game developers do as well. How many PC games use OpenGL really? Very few if any modern games take advantage of it and those that do work fine. Rage was the only high profile issue in recent memory and it works fine now.

And I just bought a GTX560Ti...
Oh well... Wasn't really that interested in ATi to begin with. Hopefully this pushes Nvidia to roll out a very large upgrade next year.

NEW GPU's FINALLY, GET HYPE!!!!! Now if only Nvidia would hurry up.

God I want to get rid of my heat making GTX 470 so bad.

Damn all you people upgrading from 5xxx and 6xxx cards! I'm just wanting to get off my 4870 :(

Though I might wait for nVidia to launch their stuff, and then choose the best upper-midrange card on the market.

Almost all my friends have AMD GPUs and I haven't heard any of them complain about issues regarding all these games with issues you guys are mentioning, and I tend to be the first person they come to. :\

None of them played RAGE though.

I've had a really good and easy time with my reference 6950 (unlocked BIOS).
Runs FFXIV like a champ.

Not sure whether to stick with AMD or move to nVidia. I picked up a number of pieces for the start of my LGA2011 build on Black Friday, and my time with this AMD card has been pleasant to the point where I don't want to switch. One of those, If-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it sort of situations I guess.

It isn't hate when xFire Witcher 2 was broken and Rage was unplayable.
xFire 6950 here
