I know. WTF were they thinking picking these people anyways. Maybe they are just finding a way to kill the show for good this season.
 
They really need to start helping the contestants out with song choices.

Most people really need some direction.

My friend thinks this year will be the last. I think they'll give it a year without Simon, watch X-Factor slaughter AI, and then it will end. 10 seasons is a good number.
 
Asian guy's name is John Park.

I just started following the season so I havnt heard him yet. Are you guys hyping him up because he's legit or is he another Sanjayah... you know, there for the lulz type deal.

DUMB CROWD IS DUMB. :lol

He has a pretty good voice but that performance was not very good. Extremely warble, flat during the entire opening, and emotionless. And the song choice. Why?

These people need to stop picking songs that they like and pick songs that will get them votes (and they confuse the two). "I LIKE THIS SONG AND EVERYONE ELSE WILL LIKE ME SINGING IT!" No.

American Woman guy actually has a personality though so I expect him to stick around over the other dudes who were also horrible tonight and bland.

Maybe so.

I think I'm checking out until the Top 12 are revealed. Right now the show just isn't worth the time investment of three nights a week.

Seriously, if Garcia puts together more entertaining performances, I feel the finals will come down to him and Didi.

Tonight was laughable at best from nearly everyone. :(
 
Casey James did well, but this season is following up last season which was huge with Lambert and Kris, and of course the David's the season before. Definitely tough acts to follow, but I think as the weeks go by some people will start to stick out, and Garcia and James will rise up. For the girls I have no clue.
 
Nobody at all sticks out so far. There's usually someone who sticks out right away even if they don't end up winning like Adam and David Archuleta.

So I just watched all of them..

God they are all so bad but a select few..

Lee Dewyze - I love his natural voice.. I actually liked what he did with the song (Snow Patrol). The chorus with his voice sounded great.

Andrew Garcia - Yea fell in love with his Paula Abdul. Tonight he was pretty bad. He seemed sheltered and it looked like his chin was glued to his chest but I know he is a YT star and is big so I'm sure hes fine. He can do much better. I hope he blows them out of the water next week. I think hes just trying to test the waters since hes knows hes safe and is playing around and will whip out the real stuff soon.

Casey - He is okay but a bit generic. Im not sure why they are gaga for a skinny version of the Nickelback singer in terms of looks.

The rest were terrible.. TERRIBLE. The worst most definetly was the guy they called back in.. Also I hated that Toddrick guys rendition of the Kelly Clarkson song.. It looked like 1 giant act and he barely sang it and the way he changed it up made me want to gag on my puke.

Rest were forgettable. I actually saw the recap with the 12 with their numbers and forgot half of em sang.
 
Out the hundreds of thousands who've tried out, these are the top 24?
80% of the performances were terrible imo.
Hope its because of first show nerves.
Good thing Simon is on the show, he's the most blunt truthful judge.
 
Idol contestants are notoriously bad at picking songs well when a theme is wide open. The best performances (Summertime, Always Be My Baby, etc) came after people were forced to pick something they didn't necessarily like.

Also, guitars and rearrangements just for the sake of rearranging are out of control.
 
Okay. What is wrong with you guys? I come here and everyone sounds like an elitist or music snob.

This is the first season I've ever watched (in full) and I think there were some really good performances by both men and women. Why is every post in this thread talking shit on how terrible the people are this season? If it's so bad then don't watch!

My two favorite girls right now: girl that sang Chris Issak and girl that sang Alicia Keys (don't know their names)

My two favorite guys right now: Andrew Garcia and Casey James

If I see one more person walk out with a guitar I'm going to scream. We don't care if you can play the guitar, we want to know if you can sing! Anyway, I question how well some of them can even play guitar.
