Okay. What is wrong with you guys? I come here and everyone sounds like an elitist or music snob.

This is the first season I've ever watched (in full) and I think there were some really good performances by both men and women. Why is every post in this thread talking shit on how terrible the people are this season? If it's so bad then don't watch!

My two favorite girls right now: girl that sang Chris Issak and girl that sang Alicia Keys (don't know their names)

My two favorite guys right now: Andrew Garcia and Casey James
I think the hate is coming from the fact that none of the contestants are doing anything to separate themselves from the group. Usually at this stage of the competition we have some idea who the front runners are and they come out and shine in the top24/32 week. This year we dont. The judges were critical of most of the people and didnt give shining reviews to anybody. Even the final performance from both groups was pretty dull. This spot is usually given to one of the best guys and one of the best girls so they can blow everybody away and end the show on a high note. Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia didnt really do that. Some of them do still have potential but they arent showing it yet.

I don't get all the bowesox love (from here and other places online). She's good, not amazing.

Elimination predictions:

guys - Joe and Jermaine
girls - Lacey and Siobahn

first time watching this hsow in years. Did you see the face on Simon during his interview with Seacrest? LOL

edit - wtf at this song. this is...awful. None of these people look the part. at all.

Good call on Joe, at least. I can't believe that Urban didn't get axed.

This is the most boring top 24 I can remember them ever having.

:lol Out of all of the shitty contestants, the decent ones get the axe.

And Kris was really good.

ETA: Tyler sucked.....HARD. Only good boot of the night.

I am very happy to be mostly wrong.

Although people have been railing against it, I think it's time for everyone to put away the guitars and start singing "I have Nothing" and all the other typical idol power songs.

Just watched the results show from tonight:

- Janelle should not have gone from the back row. There were at least three others in that back row that I would have kicked out way before her. She is the picture perfect example of how bad song choices can get you gone fast.
- Ashley never should have made it to the Top 24. Glad to see her go. And her bitchy attitude to Ryan in the awkward post-dismissal interview wanted me to punch her.
- Tim should have gone. He is staying because he's hot.
- Tyler is bad IMO. I hate looking at him.

And Alison Iraheta is great. I hope Katharine McPhee performs on Idol soon. I'm not afraid to admit that I love her new CD. Her first was awful, but this new one is enjoyable.

Good answer! Thanks dude.

once a fucking gain the show pisses me off by picking some shit talent over others that were shown having better performances. Makes me sick when they fuck it up right off the bat based on vocal ability.

there were better choices, i feel bad for those left behind.

it always makes me cringe when i see stumbling performers going through the motions. you can't really teach somebody how to sang.

there still isn't an american idol with as much soul as kelly clarkson, fantasia and ruben. after that there were good performances and artists that released some technically good sounding shit.

but the real singers like kelly clarkson have been keeping it real for years now. kelly has tons of awesome live performances, better stuff than when she was on idol, better than her albums. she is my fav fo life.

Wow at the eliminations.

I thought Joe singing Jason Mraz was actually okay.. not that terrible like the others.

Toddrick was worse, as was Jermaine.

That Urban kid knows hes not suppose to be there.. Such Bullshit.

Tyler blaming the judges was lol - But then again I can somewhat agree cuz they were like LOLOL WE LOVE YOUR 70s FLARE.. WHERE IS THE PARTY WE WANT TO JOIN LOLZ So he stuck too it and they got mad at him.

Ashley I thought was okay.. she wasnt terrible there were worse like the horrible Fleetwood Mac butcher. Ashley though was a bitch to Ryan and needed to get taco punched.

The other girl kicked off was gracious and she didnt deserve to get kicked off I think :(

Our second cable box died, so I've been forced into watching American Idol for the first time this week. Guess I might as well talk about it if I have to watch it.

The shittiest people (Haeley and Jermaine) didn't get voted off. Almost all of the guys are fucking horrible except that one Andrew dude, but he blew it singing ass Fallout Boy. I think I went to the bathroom like 50 times last night so I didn't have to listen to the shit that was spewing from my speakers. That one kid pisses me the hell off because it looks like his mom does all of his clothes shopping and dresses him every morning. Also, for some reason I find that Siobhan chick to be hot. I would do horrible things to her.

I think that basically sums up my extremely deep observations from my first experience with American Idol.

I want Garcia to win, I became a fan like many others I assume when he did Straight Up. His song choice the other night was just TERRIBLE, please no more Fallout Boy, you're way better than that, smh.

I got 2 out of the 4 right. I thought Tyler and Ashley were both heading home.

However, while I didnt think Joe was great... he was about 100X better than Tim Urban. I thought if one person was 100% gone, no doubt about it.... it was him. Surprise #1.

Surprise #2 was Janelle. WTF? Seriously? I know none of the girls really stood out (or guys for that matter) but I would have sent like 5 other girls home before her. Plus, I thought she was really, really cute! : (

I know they keep saying this, but I just don't get it. He looks like a deer caught in the headlights with a weird haircut that looks like he's wearing a damn helmet.

I am no surprised that Tim Urban didn't go home. He is the current male favorite on Vote for the Worst. Since votes are stretched so thin between all of the contestants, VFTW has more clout now and at the end.

haha I feel the same way. Too bad nobody gets the axe tonight. That's all I ever wanna see :lol

I am loving Ellen. I'm sorry, but she's stealing the show for me. Simon has always been a big part of it, and he's carefully pulling back, but damn if Ellen isn't as entertaining as Paula, as observant as Simon and more hip than Randy. This could be a good transition. I didn't think I'd be able to get by without Paula, and the auditions were awful without her. But I'm liking Ellen.

Next season they should go back to a 3 judge panel. Paula was a flake anyway. Now Ellen can fill both the roles of Simon and Paula at the same time. PEACE.

Time for me to post!

I agree with what you're saying, but Jordin Sparks deserves mention. She was and is better than the likes of Ruben and Fantasia.

I'm gonna watch tonight's episode when I get home in a few hours....

I knew Ashley didn't have the talent to make it, but damn she was some serious eye candy. They kept Haeley, Tim Urban, Lacey, and Alex over her...smh, America.

But yeah, the above mentioned ones, particularly Haeley and Tim need to gtfoh and stick to not impressing their friends at karaoke bars.

I think it's gonna come down to:

Aaron Kelly
Crystal Bowersox
Lee Dewyze
Siobhan Magnus
Didi Benami

I think they each are capable of putting out a successful studio album if surrounded with the necessary talent (and that's what the competition is about), and they all have great names other than Aaron, who's definitely got the Disney thing going for him. :lol

I liked Andrew Garcia, but he's been a 1 hit wonder for me as far as performances. You can't ride the acoustic train forever. And John Park I think has a lot of potential, but he's gotta do popular music. And Casey James is pretty good, but he's too much of a "safe pick" IMO.

GAF has good taste in most cases, but music is not one of them and never has been. Have you listened to half the shit that gets hyped to hell here? Only 2% of it is ever good. Not only that, they shit all over the good stuff.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of Casey James, but I agree with the judges tonight. Way too much guitar wankery and not enough focus on the vocals. (Then again, I'm a big Jack White fan, so I'm not sure I should be taken seriously.)

How many of these contestants do you think Kara has banged?

Honestly, probably most of the guys.

The way she looks at them its like she wants to sexually devour them, kinda creepy really.

Lee Dwyze was the best..

The big muscle guy sang well.. Andrew Garcia was eh.. The my girl kid was okay.. Mullet boy was okay this week amazingly.

The rest were trash.

AND half of the votes go to.... Tim Urban

Rooting for alex, like the tone of his voice.
That tyler kid needs to go, he's horrible. Along with John Park and Michael Lynch.
I'm surprised Ellen and Simon have similar judgment, just proves she's capable of being a judge.

Yeah, Alex did his thing, I was impressed at his quick improvement. If he brings the same type of improvement next week then he'll move into the darkhorse category.

Who the fuck picks the songs for these people, though? FFS, each and every one of them needs to sing something modern. The only two guys that seem to recognize this are Casey James and Lee DeWyze.

The obvious dismissals this week are Tim Urban and the dancer guy. But this is America, so I'm not gonna predict anything. :-\

They pick their own songs.

Lee Dewyze is a poor quality David Cook clone, imo. There's nobody even near what David Cook did a couple years ago this year. Even Kris Allen from last year entertained me 90% of the time. These guys all seem so....amatuerish. It's like they don't even understand what they are missing.

Andrew Garcia has a nice enough voice, it's that he's not picking anything catchy. It amazes me that after 9 years people can't figure out what will go over well with audiences and what is just some shit the performer personally likes.
