With US Soccer having confirmed the 18-year-old wonder kid is training with the USMNT ahead of their upcoming friendly with Ukraine, initially it was thought this would just be a small step towards securing the budding star’s services.

Well now, it may mean a lot more than we initially thought. According to German media outlet Bild, Green has made his decision – he’s chosen to play for the United States.

In a massive coup for the USMNT, the Bayern Munich youngster seems to be aiming at an outside shot to make the squad for the World Cup this summer, something that coach Jurgen Klinsmann has apparently told him isn’t out of the question.

The Bild can be sensationalist and sometimes things get lost in translation. He's definitely headed to check out training with the US team, but I'm not sure how much we know beyond that. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I have a confession to make . I envy the U.S. for having such an amazing supporters group in the American Outlaws. Talk about successfully creating a brand. Like an evil band-aid tugger of yore, I am here to raise our Offside Flag on a recent Bild report claiming that Julian Green's participation in USMNT camp ahead of their March 5 friendly against Ukraine. It is not, I am told from both sides of the Atlantic, the act of him definitively choosing us over Ze Germince and he will not be playing in the match.
