Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

Well, got my two Amazon.ca shipments today... both Pit boxes damaged. Goddammit.

Everything else was great.

If anyone in Atlantic Canada happens to spot some at retail, I'd appreciate a heads-up.

I'll add to my experience with Nippon-Yasan in receiving Little Mac and Captain Falcon.

I ordered on December 15th and it started processing the next day. It then shipped on the 22nd (the wait was apparently for preparation, most likely gathering my order). Arrived in Canada on the 30th and at my post office the next day.

So 16 days from the order being made? I'm satisfied as I was in no rush, but in comparison your order seems better.

While I'm at it, I ordered Falcon and Pit from Amazon Canada on December 11th. Started preparing around December 28th, then shipped on January 3rd. Arrived yesterday.
 
Just received my Captain Falcon so now my total collection is him plus Samus and Fox.

I keep eyeing that Villager on ebay...but the prices man, the prices. Is it 150 percent that Nintendo has ceased production on these? Or is there like, kinda a chance maybe, that I can buy one for close to $13?

Just got my Ebay Marth, thank god he's perfect! No derp face or bent sword. :D

Now...I want to unwrap it SO BAD, the packaging is a bit beaten up...

I have another one from a GAFer coming, I'm torn between waiting to see which looks the best. I want to display the best looking one and keep the other sealed until my retirement. :lol

I probably will. I've been opening every one so far anyway (although I'm saving the packaging because I'm weird like that and I think they'd be cool to glue back together and hang on walls in my game room or something).

You're not that weird, I'm keeping the boxes too, except it's in case I move or have to transport them somewhere else, the package holds them perfectly.

I'm just stacking them in a box down there in the locker.

EDIT: Fuck it, I unsealed my Marth. That didn't last for long. :lol
 
Just when I thought I wasn't going to buy more amiibo until the next wave... I have the strong urge to buy more now.

At some point I need to find a proper way to display them.
 
I got Pit and Captain Falcon shipped from Best Buy Canada yesterday. Now I'm nine Amiibo's into this madness. No regrets.

Anyone else beginning to think Lucario preorders from TRU Canada will be available closer to release, maybe even late January?
 
I opened my second Pit (it had a damaged box). I have my other one in the box in pristine condition. :-)

I think the figure in the busted box looked better though :-).

I still have 5 sealed doubles (Marth, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac and Captain Falcon). I can't open them yet LOL.
 
I'm starting to feel like finding Little Mac is impossible at this point... He was one of the only ones I actually wanted, so this is pretty lame. :(

You could try preordering from https://www.entertainmentearth.com. At this s point, it's worth a shot. It seems to be a legitimate business, but as a poster above said, it's more of a question of if they'll be able to fulfill all the preorders. I preordered from the site this afternoon and the only concern I have is no confirmation email.

So I stop at the TRU by my house and I'm chatting with a worker and he says they should be getting a truck in tonight and if there's any Amiibo on it, they're coming out tonight. I was like, uh, I just passed your shipment truck like 10 minutes ago, it should be in the back by now. He says oh ok well I'm gonna go unload it. So do I hang out like a weirdo in the toy store or just pop back in an hour? (It's 725 and I have a few places to go to tonight anyways)

From where? Gamestop hasnt charged me yet... although mine is instore pick up. I think they will charge my card as soon as its available though, right?

Yeah it was a little confusing.. but from what I read.. it said that I would be charged once they get the item, then they would ask for my card again when I pick it up. However, it wouldnt be charged again in store.. its just to verify that I was the one that bought it.

Also - if you dont pick it up in 48 hrs, a 5 dollar charge will be put on your card every day until you pick it up.

UPS left Pit at my front door today, and oh man is he awesome. I would definitely rank him up there with one of the best sculpts in the line so far.
 
I want to go to NoA and give them a giant, foam middle finger.
Store lost my pre-order of Captain Falcon.
They are treating Amiibos worse than Sony treated PS TV.
 
My extra, unintentional Pit came in the mail today. I'm trying to get a guy on Craig's List to trade me for a Captain Falcon but his communication skills are definitely lacking.

Haha not really. He's supposed to be looking forward somewhat. The stock picture he's looking straight forward as if he's in front of you but many images I see online of him boxed, he's looking forward but down at your feet if you were standing in front of him. Must be another Samus drunk problem.
 
Saw some dude trying to sell Pit and Little Mac for $50 a piece on Craigslist. The hunt is real.
That being said, I like that some are hard to find. Makes it kind of a fun little hunt trying to get them for reasonable prices. They need to reprint the first holy trilogy though, since they're actually legitimately unavailable at reasonable prices now.

I feel the same way. The hunt is kind fun but at the same time it wouldn't hurt if they shipped more than just preorders and day one stock. At the rate we are at now majority of amiibos are going to end up being rare and unreasonably priced one day after they release. Even just one or two reprints would at least make scalpers back of a little.
