Also here is Syracuse, NY ToysRUs. So many commons. not a single Capt, Pit, etc.. not even a Diddy or Mac. One Luigi though.

Check out this post from Chicago craigslist. How bad is the scalping situation? One picture is worth a thousand words...
Ha, funny.

Honestly people buying amiibo just because they are rare are just as bad if not worse than scalpers because they are hypocritical.
Not really. The idea of buying Amiibos is that you can casually but each one. You go to a store and buy any Amiibo you want. You have no real priority on what Amiibo you want. But when you find out that certain, Amiibos are discontinued, you have to make a priority list ad put those at the top. The idea being that you get the hard to find ones out the way while the more common ones you can buy later. Even though I could care less about Wii Fit games and I honestly never even played Fire Emblem(which I am getting around to), I have to go for those first because of their scarcity. You don't have to be a fan of the series to understand that what you're collecting has a priority.

That being said I fucking love Animal Crossing so Villager was a first but for me anyway. You can't just say it's hypocritical because I am not into the series as much as you or other people are. If that's the case then I'm hypocritical for buying Star Fox. I want a complete collection, why is it bad that I put games I'm not too interested in first?

That's how it always starts.

Just takes willpower. Passed up a Pit and Captain Falcon just because they weren't on my list. Only 6 more Amiibos I intend on getting, and two of 'em are preordered (Rosalina and Mega Man). Other four haven't been announced yet.

The argument going on that collectors who buy figures of characters they may not specifically be fans of are somehow as bad as scalpers is really, really stupid, and it's pretty simple why. At the end of the day, a collector is buying one (maybe two, tops) figures of each character for the same reason as anyone who is buying characters they are specifically fans of: for their own, personal enjoyment of the figures. Maybe they enjoy it for different reasons - one likes to see their full set of Smash Bros. characters while another just really likes Animal Crossing and had to have Villager. But still, it's for their own simple enjoyment and either reasoning is as valid as the other.

Scalpers on the other hand are buying characters en masse not only to deliberately prevent others, both collectors and general fans, from being able to do so themselves, but then also turn around and force said people to come to them to get those characters at 2-10 times the price before they can have their satisfaction. They are obstructing, preying upon, and profiting from other people's enjoyment.

Well said.

Just search on Chicago craiglist for amiibo - you can't miss it. What I don't get is how this guy got all of these. Is it possible to really get this many hard to find amiibos if you're a "pro" scalper?

Every local store here was sold out of new ones within only 6 hours of all of them being reported in stores on trackers. I know because I monitored stocks while I was at work.

Dude likely went around fast as fuck getting all of them too.
Ha, funny.

That's why on day 1 I bought Marth and Villager. I loved how Villager played from the 3DS version, and AC is a favorite series.

Likewise with Marth. I knew I wanted him becuase I thought he was cool.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. I know they aren't breaking any laws or anything, but it's still an asshole move to snap them all up like that Chicago craiglister.

I've been fortunate enough to get them all so far, despite Best Buy screwing up repeatedly, but the game of trying to get the retailer exclusives is going to end my streak; I wanted and missed the Rosalina preorder thanks to Target's retarded timing/planning. I fully expect BBY to fuck up on Meta Knight.

I'm hopeful I can snag Rosalina in-store by going there when they open on Feb 1st (if that date sticks), but I preordered an import from BBTS as my backup plan. I open them to use and display anyways, so the packaging difference is a non-issue.

Deny it all you want it is as true as it gets just like you stated it is true shit.
Well I was pretty sure you were "John" with the timing of your arrival and your Dr Mario avatar (stated main in the Skype conversation). Now with the nonstop justification of resale and scalping and complete derailment of the thread, I am quite convinced. I don't care how you make money and I have no moral opinion of you but can we bring the thread back on topic? I am sure an off topic thread on resale or scalping would be popular as it occurs in most limited quantity item thread. If you are not "John" than I apologize for stating what looks obvious and being concerned we have someone among us that used disgusting homophobic language which is what really was the offense in my opinion. Let's get back to the topic at hand, Amiibos!

Anecdotally, they should stop producing amiibo like Pikachu and Mario then...I see those everywhere. I've yet to even see some of the famed "less popular" amiibo like Little Mac and Captain Falcon anywhere.

Could you imagine? "What do you mean you don't have any Mario amiibo? He's the face of Nintendo! Any Pikachu? No Pikachu either! What is Nintendo's problem, do they not like money?"

Holy crap, just got an email from Amazon.ca saying that my Pit is delayed until January 30th/February 6th, what the hell? :(

Hmm so my Little Mac arrived. Don't really like how literal they took the 'Little' part of his name, he's tiny compared to other humans like Link and Zelda!

And my amiibo's from amazon.de have been dispatched :D

I'm buying them because, as a kid, I had a connection to most of these characters and grew up playing Nintendo. I'm buying two of each because my wife is the same way. I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to collecting. I don't strive to get something just because it's unique, but I do try to get whole sets because I'm a completionist. My goal with the amiibos, in the end, is to get one each of every single one for me and Sousourocket.

In related news, a flock of Pits arrived at my doorstep yesterday. Eight pits, six of which were from previously cancelled then reinstated TRU preorders. The randomness of it all is maddening, because they cancelled all of my captain falcon and my Lucario preorders, but decided to retroactively reactivate these? The only reason there were so many is, after they'd get cancelled, I re-ordered two of them when they became available again. Then they all shipped immediately, just like that.

I feel the best option here will be offering them for trade for other amiibos down the line to other Gaffers. I'm not a reseller, and it's looking like the issue of availability isn't going to get better any time soon.

I should have an extra Captain Falcon that I would trade for one of your Pits if you were interested.

I'm still waiting patiently for a Pit to appear on the EB Games Aus website. I might see if I can put in a request at my city store...that's how I was able to eventually get Marth.

is.... is anyone actually using those amiibo cases?

just a question.

I don't understand why people think it's good idea to do meme with shuttering in anime style. It's annoying to read it in some threads.

Anyway, I opened all of my packages so I can use them for their own purposes.

Deny it all you want it is as true as it gets just like you stated it is true shit.

You are an interesting fella so may I ask a question?

What is your position with Amiibo? I have a hard time to tell if you are collector since you posted that you got all of them in.

Anyone know when Shulk is supposed to release in NA?

I missed the 15 minute pre-order window on EbGames and the website says "Release: 31/12/2015" which is a bold faced lie

Along with the rest of Wave 3 (which will be in early February in NA).

Word is a Feb 1st launch for all Wave 3 in Canada.

I follow the Reddit, Something Awful and this Neogaf thread pretty closely, where was this heard from? Why is this a mystery that NoA thinks we should have to guess at and waste days of our time checking retail stores in the morning, afternoon and evening. I missed out on Marth completely and I'm stuck just hoping my pre-orders arrive safely for wave 3 because I can't spend that amount of my time in addition to what will end up being ~300$ thanks to the lack of information.

Frustrated. :- (

Received Marth from Japan today, via eBay purchase. Took about 2 1/2 weeks. I absolutely love the note that was included. "Dear Adam, Thank you for purchasing. I am very glad if you can be satisfied." Made my day!

Be careful all, Amiibos are a gateway drug to figure collecting. The following is about half of my collection one month after getting my first Amiibo:

Good news is that there aren't a lot of great figures of video game characters, so if you're not into anime there's still a definite stopping point.

Oh man you're telling me. I picked up a few of those in your post in the last 2 weeks...they were NOT cheap...but so so worth it.

Welp, since day one my Military store on base here has been getting amiibo shipments late.
My competition isnt too bad it seems either. Long story short....
Mac, Pit and Falcon all arrived this morning and made my my kids and I pretty happy. Lol

Wouldn't think of a military store getting amiibos. Interesting! How big of a store is it?

Which post? Fort Drum has received nothing aside from the original shipment which itself is already drying up.

Yea its like a Walmart i guess...just alot smaller. This particular one isnt very large. Varies though
Bases are like their own little communities, barely need to leave other than to taste that civilian freedom. Lol

I assume if you keep looking around, the later shipments will arrive eventually. Especially since you havent seen anything sinxe wave 1

Yeah I check it pretty often around lunch. Wave 1 itself arrived awhile after the game was released. Though sadly I know for a fact they never ordered marth, WFT, or villager.

Shit thats weird not to order some. Are the BX and PX affiliated through AAFES?

Id imagine they order the same crap nationwide

They fall under the same umbrella but I think they still end up ordering differently. Have a buddy at a AFB though so might have him look for me.

You too? I've ordered 3 Nendoroids (Toon Link, Red, Isabelle) and 2 Figma figures (Samus, Link) since I bought my first amiibo. Trying to track down the Pit/Dark Pit Figmas for a decent price right now. Also have the Lucina Figma figure pre-ordered.

Holy crap, I thought I was the only one! I already have Link and Samus (Figma) and Toon Link Nendoroid. I didn't get Red on time and now it's super expensive... -____-

(And now I want Lucina and ALBW Link)

If you and/or you cousin decide to open them, check out the number on the bottom, and see if it matches the two numbers on this spreadsheet. If isn't 344 or 354, depending on how high it is, it could be a sign of a restock. I'm guessing NOS, but you never know!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/154NCz7kqi-MvuoSBIS_MCmSNsrcC51Q7vENoURchqf8/edit?pli=1#gid=0

Not planning on opening them right now, but I did notice the back of the box has 344w3 and 354w3 stamped into the cardboard. Not sure if that gives the same information. The odds of those numbers being coincidental seems pretty slim though. It also makes more sense that this were holiday returns or just found in the back as opposed to random new shipments. I've attached some pics to show what I mean. Sorry for the poor quality, the numbers aren't stamped in very deep.

Still haven't bought an Amiibo. But went a little crazy about these last week.

Build and paint quality is so-so, but they're just so adorable!
They're each under an inch! Bought them to use in board games.
Ordered a few more that I couldn't find online and can't wait to get them.

I got the same notification myself. At least our orders didn't get outright cancelled.

To be honest I feel more like searching for another one as backup because at this point I fear we'll just get a cancellation email eventually.

Still, it's probably too late to get Pit anywhere, right? :(
