I'm not sure it was intentional, going by Little Mac's increased mass and Captain Falcon's relatively consistent proportions between ingame model and figure mould. The discrepancies being an unintended result of revisions between example and production versions similar to other changes seems a little more likely - otherwise I'd argue that the changes to the Link amiibo were intended to cater to piss fetishists.
At least his face will be accurate to his model in Xenoblade.

Ok, so now they are showing a picture of what he really looks like. Sort of expected it, the paint looked too good. Nice to see the bottom part got recolored. The old stock photo looks like it was a 3D render.

I have a hard time believing this, or maybe I don't want to cause I was looking forward to badass ike amiibo, but up until now, amiibos have been very accurate to their pose and detail for most of them is great, like Fox and C. Falcon. This one with the weird cape and tilted sword doesn't seem right

I think if you look at Ike alone, without the prototype (or whatever) beside it then it still looks fairly good for $10-$13. Maybe it's just me though??? It does look worse than the prototype though, obviously.

Ness is thankfully pretty simple compared to the FE guys. Worst case scenario I think will be Kirby-like slight eye misplacement. And yeah, despite the shock from the downgrade Ike's not TOO bad...

I got an email saying that my Pit and Falcon will be shipped at no charge. I think they have been cancelled and reinstated three times now. Next time they cancel them they need to promise to wait in front of Target for me for a Rosalina.

So I have 2 extra Amiibos to sell. They are open..sadly. *sigh* they were sealed, but my wife was picking up after the Christmas havoc and figured she would unwrap them, so get rid of the packaging.. After I completely wigged out.. And was sad.. I figured.. You know what, someone might still want them. Especially the guys that just want to play with them. Like me!! So here it is. I have 2. A Little Mac and a Diddy Kong. Obviously they are open, but I am willing to sell for 11 bucks a pop. 22 bucks PayPal and they are yours! Or trade me something! I would take 1 Pit for both of them

The game is the best RPG on the Wii, it's a fantastic game if your into that kind of game.
It was a Gamestop exclusive in US/CAN, went out of stock. They did a reprint run, you can sometime find it in-store for 54.99$ (49.99$ with Power-Up) and it is generally new but opened. There is also some for sale in the Buy/Sell thread on gaf. One at 60$ right now and one at 80$ with the original promo art book.
From a Japan seller on ebay? Same for me. I have to wait until January 12th for him to respond before ebay will step in. Ordered on December 7th. Sigh. I also ordered from amazon.de though when I could so I should be good. Sucks bad though you don't have any options at this point.

Yeah I'm over it. Ike looks fine enough for a $13 figure I guess. I think I was just tired last night which soured my mood. Obviously I would love the better model but in truth if it cost much more than what it does now I wouldn't buy it anyway.
I think ideally for me anyway, Nintendo would release non nfc figures, with a smaller base, charge $15-20, and can make them look nicely detailed and not cheap. But we got what we got and so the amiibo buying continues.
If you like jrpgs, easily my favorite game of last gen. If you're US, you can get a trial for free from gamefly if you never used the service. They have xenoblade there, I've always been able to get it when I try. Has to be the cheapest option for playing the game. You can also see if any Gamestops have a copy near you. There is one about 40 miles away from me, for example. Still expensive at $55 but worth it.
Hey thanks for the info! You too rjinaz! I'll definitely have to look into one of these options because I'll probably love the game if I'm into Final Fantasy and such. No wonder Shulk is exclusive to Gamestop...
Just did more research and saw there's a Xenoblade coming to WiiU!? Anyone know if it's a port or a sequel? I'd read up on it but don't want to accidentally spoil any story from the first if it's a sequel.

Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U is more of a thematic sequel to the original Xenoblade. Xenoblade Chronicles is getting a port though on the New Nintendo 3DS, however.
Spiritual sequel. Shulk won't be in it or any of the Xenoblade characters.
There is a character shown briefly that resembles Shulk but it's unclear if it actually is him, but either way, he wouldn't be a major player in the game.

Shulk amiibo YAY! Shulk feels like he has a moveset that could really make some unique fighting styles for everyone's own amiibo. That move where he changes what he's good at almost makes me want 5 Shulk to train separate speed, attack, shield, smash, and jump Shulks... but I won't put my wallet through that.

Probably the 5 they have up at displays, so I guess Yoshi, Mario, Pikachu, Peach, and Link. I would guess that Bowser, Luigi, DK, and Kirby aren't going anywhere ether.
That being said, eventually the smash line will end, and I'm sure even these main characters will be updated with a new model.

And when they do move on to new models, will the functionality carry over? Ie. would Mario Party Mario have MP functionality as well as the old functionality of the original Smash one?
Would make sense to me. It's a way for them to just keep updating the figures while keeping up with the functionality.
I would imagine so. Sorry Nintendo hasn't really said all that much about their future plans for amiibos. You can make educated guesses is about it.
Haven't seen a single one in stores. =/
