Just ordered 6 amiibo for 65.

If Gamestop actually pulls through for all of my pre-orders, hit me up for Sonic if you can't find him. I pre-ordered two but quite truthfully dont know if I'll even like his that much. I just got two of any I had passing interest in and could still order.
My second Dedede is already called for on another forum, otherwise I'd offer that as well, sorry. D:

Here is what happened today:
After working my ass off I was driving home when my friend called me. He told me I should go to the big electronic store at the local mall because he saw some of "those puppets you're collecting".
Now I hate malls with all my passion and try to avoid em as much as I can; plus said store is normally extra shitty when it comes to Nintendo stuff.
I also try to buy most of my videogames at the local mom & pop shops. The prices are higher but the service is like a thousands times better.
anyways...I'm Amiibo hunting since weeks and lately it was "a bit" pain in the ass as certain amiibos were getting rare or you have to fight for them with other costumers.
So I decided to give the stupid mall a try and, boy, I was shocked.
It was like Amiibo heaven. they had 2 huge piles with pretty much all amiibos available atm.
Here is what a pile looked like. It was surrounded by some cool looking amiibo banners.
The best thing is that the sales dude said he will ring me when they get rid of the banners, so I can grab them for free. (If they don't have to give em back to Ninty, that is.)

Here are those 12"-wide acrylic steps inside of a Detolf from Ikea. I bought the Detolf years ago and I'm not currently using it for Amiibos, but I'm sure it's the same 4-shelf one they sell now.

All I need right now are Marth and WFT and I have the whole collection so far. I'm trying to hold out in case of a reprint on those two before I start spending a bunch of money to snag them up.
I may go to Japanese route and order those two, but the collector in me hates having non-NA models mixed in when all of the others are NA.

My local Walmart got restocked with all of Wave 1 including 6 Fox amiibos.
Guy said they should get more in the next shipment including some of Wave 2.

The amiibos themselves are not different , its just the packaging. Amiibos from all the region look same and function exactly the same.

Yeah, they are numbered.
I counted 3 Wii Fit Trainer, 2 Little Macs, 4 or 5 Marths (can't remember), 3 villagers, 3 Kirbys and tons of Samuses and others in that one pile.

That looks quite good. I'll have to show my son and see if he wants to go that route for his opened amiibos. He's going to be needing another Detolf soon as he just got his Link RAH figure yesterday (which is HUGE).

Yeah. If you're just displaying Amiibo, the Detolf is perfect. With one of those steps for each shelf, you can have one case with just the full Smash Amiibo set. I like to give each figure some space so I went with a much larger case from Ikea for all my Amiibo + Disney stuff.
So I posted over the weekend that the Marth Amiibo I ordered from Amazon.co.uk was mailed in a bubble wrapper and the box was dented/creased in a several places. I contacted the seller and they agreed to reimburse me for the shipping charges (which were almost the cost of the figure itself). I guess that's something.
Yep, that's what I have mine for. Thank you so much for posting that 12 inch shelf. 100% what I needed to see. It's perfect for my Amiibo collection. That + lighting is going to make this thing look amazing.

I started with 2 and bought 4 more. They seem kind of expensive but all the other acrylic risers I've seen are waaaaay more pricey.
Yeah. I'm going to just buy 4 total since there are 4 shelves in total on the Detolf case. And honestly, I was able to get one for $22 on Amazon Prime. So it's totally worth it. That + lighting *drools*
But I appreciate you posting the exact case + stairs, so I could see how it fit. I did measurements myself, but wasn't sure how it would look. Was kind of nervous. My stairs comes in tomorrow.

lol spent 5 min refreshing over and over. The thirst is real.
The whole right side of the site keeps breaking for me, thought maybe it was being updated. Alas, nothing yet.
I just managed to grab a Japanese pre-order on eBay, it wound up being close to $30 which seems to be the average on there atm. Sonic is about $30 too.
I actually am starting to hate buying amiibos at this point. They're $13 figures that I have to spend $30 to get if I miss the pre-order :/ I really hope Nintendo solves this soon, because at this point I'm just trying to get the few I want incredibly badly and accepting that I wont be able to get most the rest.
Edit: just glanced around and realized that wave three is already gone completely. Cool.
I think we may be jumping the gun a bit here with wave 3. Wave 3 isn't even out yet so we don't know which ones are "rare" or less stocked. I personally feel like Sonic will be everywhere in mass quantity. Plus as long as one is diligent enough, you can usually snatch these up right at the store if you get there early enough. As soon as rumors that Falcon would be released, I checked stores in my area and picked up a Falcon right at my local Target. I personally wouldn't start paying the crazy prices until we see how wave 3 goes after release.

I really regret missing falcon: never even saw him in a store! I jumped on Dedede and meta knight since they were two I really didn't want to risk missing and it seems like the majority of the amiibos that go out of stock stay that way.
I rationalized the upcharge by importing from Japan, so in my head the figure itself doesn't cost a huge amount more. It's just the shipping, mainly.
I wish I had more cash to grab a few more, but thats alright: I'm just never missing a pre-order chance again.
I do think some, like sonic and sheik, have an alright chance of surviving being sold out on arrival, but guys like ike and the store exclusives are likely just going to get discontinued
