I'll probably get just one of each character. My plan is to pick up Toad from the SMB line and that's it. I've refrained from picking up any of the crystal versions of Disney Infinity characters so I hope I'll remain just as strong for amiibo.

I had initially thought the same thing would happen to them as skylanders--they'd be so common that stores would just give them away after the first few waves. I'm just going to collect the entire Smash series. It been a childhood dream of mine since Melee and I like to fulfill that of collecting trophies. The rest however I'm just going to collect what I like such as Toad and other I just like the look of.

I got everything from Waves 1 & 2 except Little Mac(!!!) but I've decided to only get characters I really like from next wave which is all of the non humanoid weapon wielding ones from games I haven't played.

I'm not trying to be a completionist, but I am trying to get a good mix of "essentials" and my favorite characters. For instance, I haven't really been exposed to much Fire Emblem, but I like the design for those (derpy faces notwithstanding), so I'm going for all of those. Others, like Little Mac or Samus or Pit who were important to me as a kid? I'm getting two, one to use and one to keep in the package.

On the other hand, I just can't bring myself to buy certain ones, specifically Yoshi. Because my loathing for Yoshi is almost Gerstmann-esque.

This is something I was surprised about a bit.
My friends were initially a bit hesitant about Skylanders. It didn't really click with them. But then they were kinda interested in the Amiibos. It wasn't until they started being rare that my friends really went crazy over them..one of them has almost all of the ones out right now and has preordered all of Wave 3 already.

Skylanders had a bit of a problem back when the first game was out where stock wasn't replenished in full until like April/May. It's sort of happening here with amiibo, but mostly just for certain characters.
Although if my tears over some of the super common shelfwarming Skylanders tell me anything, its that common guys like Mario and Peach will one day be ultra rare.

I've only been picking up ones that I really want, just because I don't have the excess money and time to complete a whole collection. I've picked up a few rare ones just because if I've seen them, but overall I've basically just stuck to ones I want. So far:

Opened: Kirby, Samus
Unopened: Luigi, Little Mac, WFT, Villager
Preordered: Ike, DeDeDe, Mega Man, Toon Link
Want to Preorder: Ness, Robin, Bowser Jr, Duck Hunt, Jigglypuff, Falco

There are a few more maybes, but to me it's more about collecting the characters I want over functionality in games or having a full collection.

Damn, sorry to hear that WFT, Villager and Marth were back on sale but sold out again (Nintendo UK store). That's all I know of.

At least for me i'm going for the ones i like/main and the ones i feel will be classic like mega man. Aside from that i do want all fire emblem characters. I'm not trying to get everyone because that is a road i don't need to go down. I'm happy with just having the ones i care about.

With more titles releasing that use Amiibo, it is unfortunate that you have to delete data from one game to use it in another game, for example Smash and Mario Party.

Instead of having to lose your precious highly trained and equipment fed Amiibo Smash data when you play Mario Party, Nintendo should release a Channel/App that allows you to store and manage Amiibo data.

In the App, you can manage Amiibo. Backup data for different games, erase data, etc. It might even have some console level exclusive Amiibo features, such as Amiibo Mii accessories or Mii characters.

I think this would be awesome and it only makes sense, unless they want you to have to buy multiple copies of the same Amiibo.

Have to say, your avatar was the hardest yet. Just because the Dinosaur is big, and that means it can't really fit in the proper aspect ratio of the forums avatar dimensions. That's why your original avatar was compressed and had artifacts. The first two avatars are zoomed out and small, because it's the only way to fit the entire dino in the avatar slot.

I made a more zoomed in one that you can see his face more, but it obviously had to crop out some of this body. Hope you like one of them!:

Not all of them, just ones that I like for the most part. Priority is the characters I play most as, followed by characters I just like, followed by ones that I think look cool (aka impulse buys)

I've been working on it day & night and I still have a few things to add/fix up but I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out.

Cool. I was considering starting a bigger collection of licensed Nintendo figures last year, but ultimately decided against it. With the prices on those premium, high-quality figures, it seemed like things could get out of hand really fast.

Agreed - I'm dying to get a D-Arts Charizard but I can't justify the $2-300 it goes for these days. X(
Many of the other figures that US retailers have stocked (some of the Figma characters, for example) have dipped as low as $40-50 each at times which I think is fairly reasonable considering how nice they are.

What I wouldn't give for a Peach/Daisy/Rosalina Nendo.

I haven't heard anything yet but I wouldn't rule it out! I have a feeling we might eventually see a Peach figure in the S.H. Figuarts line, if anything.

I've bought (at least) 2 of every amiibo released thus far and plan to do the same for upcoming waves if money isn't too tight.
I'm really curious to see if Nintendo will release amiibo figures of the alternate versions of Smash Bros. characters like the Male Wii Fit Trainer, Female Robin, Female Villager, Alph, Classic Wario, and all of the Koopalings.
The Koopalings probably have the best chance of the lot considering that they're actually different characters and are fairly popular with fans. A big box set with all 7 Koopalings & Bowser Jr would be pretty cool.

If they start pumping out amiibo figures for every Animal Crossing character or Pokemon, I don't think I'd be able to keep up. :S

Here's hoping my site (http://amiibros.com) becomes popular enough that Nintendo will start sending me new amiibo to review in the future! haha
