Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

The hunt is going to be insane come February. I only have 4 / 11 wave 3's preordered, and I'm still missing the trinity from wave 1 but am waiting on B&H for that.

Not going to be stupid and assume that popular characters will be common with Wave 4 though, getting preorders in for Wario and Charizard dang it!

What I would do in that situation is cancel my debit card and get a new one. It's relatively easy to do. But that's just me mind you, I do it at least once a year because of all the online transactions I make.

Of course play-asia would not be happy with you, so you might burn that bridge if you plan to use them again

I used my CC in this instance, and I've got a few other preorders tied up using that payment method. I'd considered just ditching the card, but it's a hassle in this case, and as you say it burns bridges for the future. Nothing insurmountable, just a hassle. Not sure why they can't just cancel the preorders - never found this with any other retailer on- or offline - any idea what the thinking is there?

I think Nintendo is going to just leave May for Mario Kart DLC and Splatoon. June would make sense since that is somewhat of a low period for the industry.

Likely don't want to get stuck with stock that was ordered specifically to cover pre-orders.
 
I'm sweatin' over here - I missed Pit, Falcon, and Mac from Wave 2 (hit up five different stores only a few days after they launched). Short of a reprint, I'll probably never find them.

So I'm bound and determined to hit up my two local Targets at store open on Feb 1... but what if that date turns out to be inaccurate for Wave 3? What if the scalpers get there before I do? What If I never have Toon Link standing next to Rosalina on my shelf??

These thoughts are dark, man

Hmm, yeah, that'd make sense, considering we're waiting 2 months for Wave 3 after the 2nd set, & wave 4 seems to be 2 months away as well.

Also now I want to be able to scan Wario to unlock his WarioWare outfit for my Mii in Mario Kart 8...........also the bike he has in SSB/WarioWare as well.

Ness is going to be rare as fuck. Came from a low selling game back in 1994, combined with a small rabid fanbase that will be going after him like crazy. Y'all better get your preorders ready on him.

He's the one I'm worried about the most. I want to try and get two of him so I can keep one in the box.

Good point. I think we are fortunate to have a Marth reprint coming, but at the very least it is because Intelligent Systems will use their own characters in their games. When's the next Itoi game coming?

See, this is the problem I have with certain figures.

How was I suppose to know that Marth & Wii Fit Trainer would have uses that I wanted before they became rather rare? Part of me wants Ness since I don't mind him, but I don't know how "useful" he'll be in the future. Do I take the risk with my limited budget and grab him, or do I wait to hear Nintendo confirm other games he can be used in while buying figures I truly want/know will be used but then risk said character being more rare/expensive to find when Nintendo eventually does confirm a game that uses him.

I still can't believe Nintendo doesn't have their own site where you can buy them online.

You will be playing the lottery. On one hand a super rare figure like Marth may get a reprint if a significant feature is introduced in a later game. However, this isn't guaranteed since Nintendo may just do a brand new figure for said character or give out shitty cards.

Just come with me to camp Believe for a new Earthbound its bound to happen. Then you wont need to worry about getting ness cause you'll have him :)

Get this, I actually played through the first Earthbound on an emulator on my PSP! See Sony and Nintendo, you can be friends.

I saw it in person :) it's very cool.

I have Meta Knight and Lucario pre-ordered. I am worry it is going to get lost like my Captain Falcon pre-order.
I have less faith pre-ordering really does anything. Got imports of Shulk and Rosalina ready.

I'm only worried about my Lucario pre-order at a TRU I've never used before. Otherwise everything else is via Gamestop and they have never let me down with a pre-order.

Heh I'm fine in real life. Just being over dramatic. I don't feel confident at all though going into Wave 3. I almost feel like I should give up and accept I won't be able to get all the smash Amiibos.

Lol just all the scattered release dates. The lack of info. The fact that all my pre orders were done on Gamestops site and set up for in store pick up. I just get the feeling im going to miss out on a handful of Amiibos.

The worst part is just like having no idea when I should be going to the stores to attempt to even buy them. Like Shulk is Feb 20th now wtf Bowser, Mega Man and others are delayed to the 6th, the 20th. Ugh screw these scattered release dates.
 
so is it looking like wave 3 is going to be just as much a cluster fuck as wave 2 was in terms of release dates? its certainly looking that way to me.
