Only two more waves after Wave 4 for smash I think, since there are only 13* characters left in the roster awaiting announcement.

Yep. The 1st, 6th and 20th lol Rosalina I guess is randomly on the 1st, I think? I assume Target and GS might get Wave 3 early on the 1st. Maybe?

Lol I'm totally expecting to line up early on the 1st and get nothing at all. Sigh. I'm going to hit up all the store on the 1st anyways. But I'm stating to wonder if the 6th is the actual date they first go on sale and not the 1st.

I just want the smash line, I'm not planning on getting every single one after the line is done. I know the dangers of trying getting every single last one of something.

You can be crazy. I'm crazy. I spent $400 this month on Nendos. :P All I'm saying is that when you have 50+ of a line, does not having that one you stressed over so much really matter?

Yeah, I already have the THT but I order a second set through B&H for the hell of it to see if it'll go through... Hasn't been cancelled yet but I have no idea where they're going to get the items from.

"Get the ones you want" doesn't work if you don't obsess over the rare ones. Why would you not have a full Smash roster? That's just silly. Buy them all. All. All. All.

Nah it's pretty simple. I go in and preorder them all as soon as they're available. No sweat, no obsession, just a full set and a happy me :)
 
I've decided to dedicate three shelves instead of two to my Amiibo collection. That way I could cover 16 figures per shelf and uniformly fit 48 characters with a generous amount of space between them. Then I'll squeeze in the 49th (or 50th for Mewtwo) amiibo on bottom rows of two of the stands so that 5 are displayed down there. Still a long way out I'm sure. Here's what it looks like so far (need a light eventually).

toy hunting meant equal parts tenacity and patience. Release dates? Preorders? We should be so lucky! If I told you some of the things I did to ensure I got a toy, you'd think I was mad.
 
Gah, just have a feeling that pre-orders will open during my hour long commute to or from work and I'll miss out on all of them.

I am getting the ones I want, they just happen to be all of them. I've surrendered my sanity a long time ago and just go with the flow. Consequence and responsibility are just words I can no longer spell without the spellchecker. Believe me, I am much happier this way.

Went to two Gamestops, one to finish paying off some wave 3's, and the guys I talked to didn't know that tomorrow was a 'possible' date for wave 4's to be up for pre-order.

It's kind of funny cause one of the guys there has mentioned NeoGaf in the past so I was a little confused, lol.

It bothers me that I might actually order 2 of Ness now, considering I was going to do that for Lucina and Robin. Granted for Lucina, I wanted one for general use and one for display at my work station, and I was going to send the other Robin out to someone that requested it already.

I just hope we have enough time to secure some. I already got Falcon, the other 2 I want are probably going to be really rare :v
 
Wow, none of the stores I've called take preorders :c

Guess I'll just have to try and reserve some on the day they come out, or just head over there. Do we have any concrete dates for Waves 3 and 4?

That's the part that bothers me. I can't help but feel vulnerable if I fail to check it in time, because then I'm stuck for months hoping I can get another one. It really doesn't help when you can tell immediately of who will be the rare Amiibo of that particular batch.

Nevermind the fact that even instore pickup is spotty for reasons Azula already mentioned.

I was thinking about what I was going to do tomorrow while I'm in class. Teachers don't like phones. I do have my laptop though.... But when I go for a jog at the gym; I'll have to carry my phone with me. Geez, the things we have to do to get those preorders in.

I'm going to collect the entire Smash line, I've already made up my mind. Won't collect every Amiibo beyond that though (they will be endless by that point). I've made this a personal hobby and it makes me super happy. And I love my display.

I think, the whole "stress" and stuff seems worse than it is. I'll dial it back in the thread. In real life I'm okay lol, really. I actually am having a lot of fun talking to this community. Organizing the google doc. Reaching out to people and helping get people missing Amiibos. Me and my GF are having a good time collecting.

I should say for me, the reason I started collecting, is because it's kept my mind off my PTSD/Depression from my remission. I beat cancer after a year long battle. But was struggling with PTSD after remission. So my GF suggested I get into collecting this, as a fun activity to do with her. And collecting them has made me super happy (as is, being apart of this community).

So I'm determined to get every single Smash one! :P

EDIT: I do get your point though. Ultimately, it shouldn't be stressing you out or hurting your wallet. There is a "sane" limit to collecting. And there is definitely wisdom to collecting the things you actually want, vs trying to be a completionist. But I have my heart set on completing the Smash line at least, no matter how crazy that is.

So to be clear, anything I post in this thread (in terms of being stressed or paranoid, or worried about Wave 3's terrible release)...it's not that bad in real life. I promise. :P

The thing is, Nintendo can give amiibo support to a game AFTER it releases, for example Mario Kart 8 was added amiibo support via an update.

So as far as we know, no Xenoblade support for Amiibo has been announced... yet.
 
Any extra Amiibos I am able to secure I will gladly swap 1:1 for any others I don't own, regardless of rarity. I hope at least a few others feel the same way, could be an efficient way to get the ones you really want. I know it can be tough to let a rare/unicorn go if you have a scalper mentality but hopefully the collectors among us come through for each other.

Xenoblade is a port of an old game so it wouldn't be significant. Still I wouldn't be surprised to see some small bonus added in. If there is a big bonus from Shulk I would guess it would be from X.

Plenty of the people in the Google DOC are of this mindset. I think, quite a few in this community are willing to swap 1:1 to try to complete their collection, as well as others. I think for a lot of people on here, they aren't collecting to make money, or because of HOW rare something is. They are more of the mindset of, wanting to complete their set because they enjoy displaying the (or actually using them).

So you should be able to find people to swap with you. I know I will (I'll be getting extras in Wave 3, to help others fill their collection out. I'll be giving them out free, just asking people to pay it forward to other members. But in the case that I'm missing some for my own collection, I will swap regardless of rarity).

Well, this makes it tricky deciding if I really want a Shulk. I've been waiting to play Xenoblade on N3DS to decide if I like his game enough. The timeline of releases seems a bit fucked in this aspect

Nice, there are some very cool people in this thread. If I'm able to find them when they release, I have the funds to stock up and even hold onto until others are able to buy/swap. The challenge for me is I'm a one man show, but I live in an area where there are several of each retailer that sell them. Doing everything I can from a preorder/availability watch perspective as well.
 
Fox arrived from amazon T__T One more down...

There are still several I'd like to own but I feel like I have all of the "absolutely must own or else" from Wave 1 and 2 taken care of now.
