Last time I went to GS to check out if they had any Marth (they didn't D: ), the guy told me that the next batch wouldn't have colored plastic legs, that they would be transparent instead...

Anybody else heard about this? If that's true, the colored legs could become quite valuable with time amongst collectors.

GameStop employees make shit up ALL the time. No I haven't heard of this and likely isn't a thing.

Local report (mid-big city in France): I went to two supermarkets, two electronic stores, two video game stores and a toy store, there was some stock everywhere. Usually 5-7 different characters in each shop (none had more than 9), but I've seen all of them at least once. The rarer was Villager (seen only one, and since I was unsure if I should get him, i caved). Kirby is rare, too.

I've seen really few bad paint jobs, quite a good surprise...

They don't compete with skylanders, in term of display space, though. They were often half hidden.

I'm now at 7 (Fox, Yoshi, Samus, Kirby, Link, Peach and Villager). That's... not really serious, especially since I'm not even fan of Smash.

The (other) bad thing is that I've been unable to find a steelbox edition of Alpha Saphire anywhere (seen Omega Ruby steelbox, though) :/

Did someone say Amiibo? (Marth is coming in later distributor did not them him it yet).
(also price tags are removable will do that at a later date with the right equipment).
Got a 2nd Link to open the rest will stay closed).

Is anyone seriously planning to buy the full set? It will cost over $800 here. The thought of keeping them all sealed seems like madness. I'm not poor, but I can definitely find something else to do with that money.

This first wave is pretty good, but the future will go down in desire for me. I don't need jank such as Metaknight, Shulk, Lucario, and so on. I stick to the mainstream characters.

Kirby is at 22,10 EUR at amazon now. What is happening?

Not sure, but in the last couple pages it's been mentioned that Kirbys are sold out in a bunch of stores.

I guess the "rarity" chart is as follows:

1.Marth
2.Wii Fit Trainer
3.Villager
4.Kirby
5. Samus and Fox

My next amiibo purchase WAS going to wait until Bowser and Mega Man were out. But jeez, some of these other ones are so tempting right now...!

Funnily enough the opposite is true for me. Don't care at all about the mainstream ones like Mario. Which is why the third wave is the most interesting to me so far. Shulk, Ike, Mega Man are must-haves for this poor soul.

BTW: this threa should be renamed and include a PSA: do not enter, it will make you buy an Amiibo

So... I got the Samus amiibo delivered with Smash today.
Then I went out and saw Link and Mario amiibo in a store. They were the only 2 available so I had to get them.

Considering I wasn't planning on getting many, 3 amiibo in the first day is pretty cool :O
Link's yellow stand really doesn't look that bad in the flesh.

Purchased the Mario one. The paint jobs in the more cartoony characters are way better than the detailed models. Might pick up Kirby if I see him anywhere.

So I'll be headed to the shops this morning to pick up Smash and hopefully Fox's and Samus' amiibo.

I swear to myself, my family, and to you guys that I'll only be getting my favourites. The only reason I might fail is if they all become favourited. Wish me luck!

Once you unpack your first one you'll...

Oh well, you'll see. :P

I want an amiibo but I don't want to take it out of the box cause it's such a great package :(

Anyway to take them out without destroying the package?

So far I have Link, Kirby, Mario, Fox and Donkey. My daughter bought me Samus. Will try to find a Villager and a Yoshi tomorrow and I will be done... until the next wave. The Iwata's evil plan is working...

Nooo, stop teasing!

Kirby just went up to the price of 18,51 EUR on amazon.de, while everything except cheap Link is at 14,99. Whhhyyy. I really want it now!!

Also here are Derpy and Charmy with the world-renowned Tic-Toc from Blue's Clues (not an amiibo yet) on my shelf.

Im not teasing at all!

Oh look!
Kirby, oh boy! You and Roubens are already best friends!
What will Barichello think about that?

also does the 2nd wave come out in december or was that just a rumor

It's coming in December we just don't know when. Also, I'm surprised I'm the first to like that amiibo smash Facebook page. That's gotta count for something, right? Thanks ChosenPredator!

I was at TRU B1G40% off deal for Amiibos.
But wow, only a few of them were well made...Kirby, Pikachu, and Samus.
They look so fugly that I decided not to buy them even with such a good deal.
Link and Zelda...Why you look so bad =(.

They had the zelda amiibo? It's not supposed to be out until December 14th.

So I was planning on avoiding buying any of these in an effort to save money... But thats now out the window. So, here is my one question:

Are you guys leaving them in the packaging for collection purposes or taking them out to use them then display them that way??

After all the doomsaying, I'm really impressed with the quality of the amiibo I got. Just hope the ones from ShopTo tomorrow are of equal quality.

Kind of annoyed. I thought I got lucky when I snagged Marth + WFT at Gamestop when I was picking up AS for a friend, but Marth's box is a little messed up. The plastic has a cut in it, it's not very big but i wanted my FE Amibos pristine since I collect FE stuff Extra annoying since the actual figure looks pretty good.

Oh well, I can deal. Still want to find a Villager, and if I find another good Marth I will get that too but I went ahead and preordered Bowser, Ike and Shulk. After that I will finish off with Robin, Lucina, Lucario, Olimar, Charizard, Ness, and Doge. Mayyybe 1-2 more depending on who i want to use as my "pet" for actual game use, though I got a second WFT already. Should be spread out enough to not seriously bother my finances.

I'm seeing the Amiibos here with the price tag of 14,98€, is this the MSRP? Both stores where I saw them (Portugal) had them for 12,99€.

Also, was expecting worse quality tbh, Link and Samus (only two I got) have pretty good detail. I'm surprised.

Since there is no way to use them without taking them out of the packaging, I take them out. I want to use them, not just look at them.

In France, supermarkets and toy shops sell them at 12€99.

A big book/dvd/electronic store chain (FNAC) sell them at 14€99, but there's a 2€ rebate with shop card.

A big video game chain (Micromania) sell them for 14€99, but they're know for inflated prices (as I said yesterday, they sell Pokemon for 49€ when it's 34€ in the supermarket in the SAME mall). And they damaged the boxes, too, with stickers and, worse, staples, in the one I visited.

I'd say 12€99 is the "right" price in France, although some shops try to earn a bit more. I'm reluctant to pay 14€99, and I'm happy that I got all those I wanted at the lowest price.

I'm not surprised that Kirby is becoming expensive online. It's definitively rare (seen two), even more than WFT from my experience, only better than villager, but I suspect that villager is less sought after.

I was planning on keeping all but one (whichever one I decided to level up in Smash, prolly WFT since I have 2) in the packaging, but that might not work out. Depending on the functionality of these with other games like Xenoblade X, FExSMT and whatever Pokemon games that come out down the line (and whatever unannounced stuff), I may have to get a few more doubles. Along with my 2 WFT I have one Marth. Want about 12 more, including a 2nd Marth since the plastic has a small cut in it.

I'm definitely not letting my Marth leave his box though. Same with Ike, Robin and Lucina when they come out.

A brief dramatic retelling of my trip to the shops this evening:

While perusing the various left overs of the days shopping madness, I find a standee of Amiibo's next to the gaming/tech counter.

Me: "Oh, Amiibo's are out. I can't believe anyone would actually buy these! Especially without a proper game to go with them. Bloody Nintendo fans really would buy a turd in a box if it had Mario on the packaging..."

Shop Assitant: "Hello sir, can I help you with anything?"

Me, picking up a Link Amiibo: "I'll take this, and do you have a Samus one? Metallic orange armoured woman with a gun for a hand? That's the one! That too please."

So yeah, I admit I was wrong and these are actually kind of awesome looking in person. Just wish I had a proper game to play with them though. Samus and Link will make Smash multiplayer matches a little more fun, but I'm effectively giving my WiiU a fun toy to play with that I pretty much get to watch a pantomime of someone else playing with it instead of have getting to have fun with it myself.

Although it does just occur to me that using them in Mario Maker to have Samus and Link in classic Super Mario Bros. style game would be brilliant.

I think amiibo are pretty fun in Smash Bros. It's awesome training them and see them become stronger and stronger. Their AI is adaptive, so they're much more dynamic than a typical CPU opponent. Much more difficult to defeat! And they're probably the fastest way to unlock custom parts, etc., since after each match they have presents you can collect by checking them at the Amiibo screen. You're basically rewarded each time you use them. :-)

Yeah, it's not like I'm not planning on using them with Smash, and infact the Amiibo functionality is what tipped me over the edge on deciding I'll get smash if I can get it for under £30 (not a huge fighting game fan).

I just wish there was a bit more of a substantial, personal and involving use to them beyond item unlocks and an AI opponent/ally. A proper Nintendo take on the Skylander's/Disney Infinity set up basically.

Picked up my copy of smash, gamecube adapter and some amiibos today.

Got Marth , Villager, WFT, Pikachu , Mario and Donkey Kong. Still have Link, Samus and Fox waiting to be delivered also. They all look pretty awesome.

Now the only problem is choosing which one I'm going to open to use as a partner. Also too all of AusGaf. Target $14 each.

I just want to say, i bought the Villager Amiibo today, and i think it looks really fine. I don't understand the negativity towards the finish of the paintjob etc a week or two ago. It looks really good to me. Maybe not as good as the Ganon statue from the WWHD special edition, but still really nice.

Snagged Pikachu and Kirby. I'm glad I went for the smaller, simpler figures. They look clean and have a much better sense of scale than the others. Was thinking about Samus until I saw her in person.

Any word on whether Mewtwo will get an Amiibo?
