Crap. Didn't realize Rosalina got hit with the retailer exclusive stick. Bleh. I realize it's probably a necessary evil to some degree since they're pumping out so many, including characters the general public definitely doesn't care about, but every time one pops up that isn't Best Buy that's an extra $3 taken out of my wallet.

I quite enjoy my amiibos of; DankeyKang, Metroid, Koorby, Wee Foot, Peekachew, Mawrio, and Villagure.
My brother ended up getting me a Mario amiibo as a late birthday gift.
Later that day I bought a Samus one, :lol.
Then I found out that a gamestop near me has a Villager amiibo in stock! Those are sold out EVERYWHERE down here. Placed a hold on it and will be picking it up today!

I've been too a number of stores looking for Amiibos and I have been continually shocked at how much shelf space Skylanders get. It's unbelievable. I can't think of any toy line from my childhood that was given that much space.So of course, my local Tesco didn't have any at all. It's not a small Tesco either.
GAME had a few in stock, but had sold out of many of the popular characters just due to a very limited supply.
Toys R Us.. had a display! Of sorts. I mean, they'd put them out at least!
Though this of course pales in comparison to their Skylanders and Infinity display.

Haven't bought one yet because I just know once I get one I'll suddenly end up with no money and a ton of Amiibos. But it's getting awfully hard to resist, that Samus looks so good at the local stores...

Yesterday, I borrowed my friend's Kirby amiibo just to unlock his mii racing suit in Mario Kart 8. It really made me realize how awesome it is to be able to do such a thing. if it was regular dlc we wouldn't be able to do this, we'd need to each pay for the suit. I'm lending him my Link and Peach ones so he can unlock the Spinner in Hyrule and both of the respective suits in Mario Kart 8 as well.
I think Wave 1 was decently handled here... I decided to pass on the online orders to avoid bad paint jobs/broken boxes.
But I fear that Wave 2 and 3 will be a bigger issue, and finding some of them in shops will probably be quite a challenge.
Especially if the launch date is broken like it has been this time. I don't expect to see dozen of Falcons, for example, and they may be difficult to find quite quickly.
Although those that can be used in several games* can indeed be more interesting.
* I have some hopes for Mario Party at least. Maybe Nintendoland 2 if they ever want to create one.

You could argue that you wouldn't pay 12-15$ to unlock a suit even in 10 games

I just ordered a Marth back home for in store pick up.
My friend is going to pick it up for me. Hopefully it won't be derped but whatever.
As sad as it is, at the moment i'm buying these amiibos as fillers for my friends when they aren't around. Being able to have their mains as CPU with their name is the a neat thing for me.

I'm really satisfied with the existing Mario Amiibo, but I hope that set brings some better sculpts of other Mario characters, in normal standing poses sans big plastic supports. Not really feeling the Smash versions of Peach and Luigi.
Got in Marth and Pikachu today, completing Wave 1! Marth looks okay to me, but to be honest I'm not sure exactly what makes the biggest difference between a "derpy" and a "normal" Marth amiibo, so I don't know how I made out. And I'm too lazy/incompetent to manage a nice close-up with my phone to share.

I have the Link one, and used it with Smash Bros. However, I don't really think it's all that cool, or really get the appeal.
TRU still has them.

Ugh, those painted fingernails looks atrocious. If you can't represent them becuase of the tiny space, just dont do it. Not that I like them anyway in the real 3D model either.
Easy enough to fix with some paint, lol.

So tempting to get 1 but decided to wait for Wave 2 before I buy any. Will pick up Samus, Link, and Zelda hopefully they will have a 3 Amiibo deal somewhere.

Just found out about the retail exclusives. I'm at a loss. So shameful.....
I hit up a local figures place for Warhammer stuff, found the right paint for Link (green) and Pikachu (black, yellow) to fix some blemishes I noticed. For Pikachu, I fixed his weird coloring on the years and tail.
Here's one of our Marths, they both look pretty much the same. I did see some figures yesterday with the larger and lower down eyes, but I don't really like the look of those.

Thanks to my GF living in the middle of nowhere I found 1(!) Marth left at the Walmart by her. There were two Villagers left so I bought one of those too. I'll probably take back the Marth with the slightly damaged box so someone else can buy it if they want, been out of stock over a week everywhere near me.
It didn't happen overnight, these things make big money. Nintendo made the right choice trying out their line here. Would be nice if more figures had more consistent functionality. Will be annoying if I want to keep a few boxed but can't find any spares down the line for new releases later.

I just got three more Amiibo in from TRU shipped to my house. Luckily they're all pretty good quality. I got Wii Fit Trainer, Donkey, and Fox. I really appreciate Donkey Kong's paint job. They could have just done a single color, but they added some darker brown spots in places where the fur would be shaded. Small, almost unnoticeable touch, but appreciated.
That describes Nintendo, especially Mario Kart 8.

My Marth's face looks perfectly fine, though I'm halfway tempted to slightly paint over some of the imperfections; mostly around the hands where the flesh color blends into the sword and hilt. Anybody who's customized their own Amiibo's have any tips for what sort of paint to use?
Soooo guys....I was weak and grabbed myself a Samus amiibo...and now I want more like Peach and Link and soon Captain Falcon. Please help me stop myself from wreaking my bank account lol.

I'm sure Nintendo will re-stock the 'rare' characters from wave 1 like Marth, Villager and WFT at least once before the Holidays. After that I don't see them restocking since these are characters that don't have the appeal of the other big name series like Mario, Zelda and Pokemon so your best bet will be to grab them as soon as you see them in stock just to be on the safe side.
That what I'm hoping. That why I'm grabbing Peach and Link a little later while I'll grab Captain Falcon soon as he releases considering his franchise is dead.

Loving the Peach Mii outfit in MK8, the neckerchief is a nice touch. Shame that Pikachu (and others) aren't supported, I'm hoping that Nintendo get behind Amiibo and patch support in wherever possible.
