If somebody from Germany can answer me something quick: I'll be over there for Christmas and want to know in which stores I can find a big amiibo selection. Want to grab something from wave 2 without pre-ordering because I won't be home over the holidays. I'll be in Köln and Frankfurt btw.

What do you mean by this?

Let me repharse, basically you can keep the amiibo in the box and and you,ll be able to scan them with the gamepad (even if theyre boxed). Similar to the Skylanders kiosks in store when you can test the figures and such.

I got lucky and found Marth in Toys R Us this past weekend. I picked up one for me and two more for two buddies (selling to them at cost, plus shipping). Still no luck with Wii Fit Trainer or Villager yet, but the rest are relatively easy to find in my area.

finally found villager and with that i have all the ones i want from wave one :)

Nintendo better clear things up about Wave 2's launch today! If it is actually this Friday December 12th (my birthday wooo!) then we are looking at 4 days to launch with not a peep from them.

So far the only detail is from EB Games Canada saying they got an email that only Zelda, Diddy and Little Mac will be releasing this Friday, they aren't taking pre-orders and that the stock they get will likely be the only stock they will have until Christmas.

My plan is to go everywhere when they open on Friday morning and keep going, Wal Mart at 7am (have a gift card so would be best to get them here and be done and back in bed), Target at 8am, EB Games at 9:30am and then Future Shop at 10am (will be trying their in store reservations at 3am to hold them). I am in Canada.

Toys r us has amiibos for the best price: It's 12€ there incl. VAT. They don't seem to have all figurines, though, so selection may vary. Saturn and Media Markt have all of them, but don't offer discount. Also, Müller (drug store + toys + video games) has a lot of them. Around Köln Kirby seems to be nowhere to be found, except for (quote to see)

My unloved crew

Nice! Marth's sword doesn't look bent, can't tell how his face looks. I assume you couldn't find a Villager to keep sealed?

My gut tells me that while they may have a bit of stock left for the big 3 (WFT, Villager, Marth) I doubt we will see any restock in January and beyond.

I have the Yoshi one. It's nothing special.

I've played some Eight Players Smash matches against it during three hours and it has reached level 50 pretty quickly. So what's next? I guess I could use it to unlock a costume in Mario Kart 8...

Overall, I'm not impressed. I hope future compatible games are gonna include more exciting Amiibo-related features.

Found the WFT and the villagers day 1 by luck since the TRU employees forgot to open a box up till like 2:30 in the evening which had both. Marth's face is pretty bad...well, not really, but one of his eyes is printed lower than the other which looks awful.
Is there an importer where you can get these already?
They are part of the first wave in japan so any japanese importing sites should have them.

I only have Star Fox, Link, and Samus so far and I don't want to open them lol. I think I'mma stop by a few retailers and see if I can get lucky with the rare amiibos.

From the 9 bought with the b2g1 free deal, fox, link and yoshi are ready.

Can't wait for Little mac, Luigi, sonic, megaman, meta knight, bowser.

That bestbuy deal was pretty insane with combined with GCU.

Anyone else read on Destructoid that the Lucario Toys R Us amiibo is now sold out for pre-orders? That's really crazy! This amiibo doesn't come out for another 2 months! Hopefully they'll still take pre-orders before it comes out.

Ye sold out everywhere, crazy.

You're making other people miserable to make your own people happier.

That's still a crappy thing to do.
Oh what a load of bullshit. I am not making other people " miserable" by buying some items and selling them to collectors who just have to have them so much that they are willing to pay extra for them. My kids getting food and clothes is more important than those buyers personal collection of videogame knick-knacks

I'm going stealth-Amiibo-shopping next week. I need to buy a Christmas present for my 2 year old nephew and will head out to Toys R' Us. If you're still interested I can tell you aferwards which Amiibos they had! Btw. I'm talking about Frankfurt.

Edit: I think my brother is getting me one for Christmas. He just asked me which is my main character in MK8. This will save me all justification for displaying those figures in my room! :P

I am going to open my Fox Amiibo today. I thought I had my collection set for now, but I still have the rest of wave one sealed here, waiting to be returned to the store. So far, I have opened DK, Pikachu, Villager, Mario, and Samus. Link and Fox should be the final two from wave one. Tempted by Peach though.

I'm planning to get Rosalina and Little Mac. I'm trying to collect a variety of fighting styles.

I think it's safe to say your attitude is unwelcome here, regardless of the context.

Aside from what's been said already: If you want a specific figure that you can't seem to find anywhere, your best bet at finding it will probably be the Saturn near Cologne Hansaring station. That store has one building dedicated to entertainment (claiming it to be the biggest entertainment section in Europe, I believe), which naturally means that they allocate more space to amiibos than most other stores.

You mean my attitude where I don't appreciate people like me being called a scumbag even though I am not doing anything illegal or harmful, and it actually ends up helping someone more than it hurts somebody else?
ban me if that's a problem then because if so this place doesn't sound a place worth posting in anyway

Sure, drop me a pm.

Interesting, I haven't been to Köln for a while but I know where that is so I'll try to check it out. Thanks!

Exploiting people with more money than sense, at the expense of the average fan who would appreciate being able to participate in something but can't afford to cede to extortion, doesn't really sound all that noble to me.

People rationalize that they're not being a jerk because their activity isn't technically illegal all the time. But there are plenty of legal things you can engage in that are rude, thoughtless, greedy, and cause some level of harm to other people.

If you scalp and flip products because you are in bad straits and are literally trying to find a way to put food on the table and feed your children, I'm not going to call you an evil bastard. If I was broke and needed money, I might flip a hot product too. But I don't think people should rationalize away engaging in an activity which is distasteful and makes a lot of people have a bad time at something which should be fun.

I'm reminded of the person who was buying every single Amiibo at a store at launch, had a bunch of angry people behind him, and literally apologized for being a scalper but made the sale anyway. He knew what he was doing was rude and hurting actual fans' enjoyment. He was just too much of a dick to care. But really, a lot of this is the fault of retailers. So many have no regulation in place against mass purchase of products even though it has been pointed out it's really in their best interest. Scalpers frequently aren't regular customers and don't make other purchases at the store. Conventional customers tend to make additional purchases on average. A scalper who buys 20 game consoles isn't buying 20 games, extra controllers, and accessory kits to go with them.

Please tell me what bad time and harm is being done here

Welp, just bought 6 of them at TRU for the sale. No Marth, villager, WFT or DK.

Trying a few other stores now...I hate that I'm buying all of them when I said I'd not buy any.

Just a heads up for anyone in Lisburn (Northern Ireland) GAME has a couple of Wii Fit Trainers and tons of Marth. Anyone else in Lisburn?

Didn't think so.

I might get Mario & Marth since they're the only Wave 1 characters I can use (maybe Kirby & Peach for my cousins). I'll get Diddy for myself & Captain Falcon for my little brother in Wave 2 (I want to get Pit, but I use Pitoo more).

Wave 3 is gonna murder my wallet.

Yeah, my town may have the more rare ones so feel free to PM any that you are missing.
I will only ask for payment of the product and shipping.
PS: US Only. Giftcards as payment is fine.

London gaf, I went to HMV on Oxford Street today and they have a variety on sale (I remember Mario, Link, Samus and Marth) for £10.99.

I'm one of those "I'm not going to buy any of these but now I have 9" people (I feel like there there should be an AA type group for us).

I don't even have a wiiu but I'm currently on the hunt for Marth and that elusive gamecube adaptor because I know I'll eventually get one and you just have to play smash with the gamecube controller right?!

I just wish they'd release the 3DS update so I could at least use my figures on there instead of having $100 in awesome looking paper weights for now...

At least they are cheap (if you're not buying from scalpers, that is). That becomes a problem when you do that with things that are a little bit...pricey.
Which is where I am right now.

Have any of you guys purchased these Kingdom Hearts Statues:
I have a few and they are really close to being Amiibo sized.
Do you guys think Nintendo will ever make Amiibo like that with those crazy bases instead of the ones they have now? (maybe at a higher premium cost?

What are the store exclusive Amiibo?

I know of

Shulk - Gamestop
Lucario - Toys R Us
Meta Knight - Best Buy

Any others?

They seem too top heavy and might cause a few kids to smash their gamepad or 3DS Screen lol :P

I don't know, I'm just a mere mortal, but IMO I think that Nintendo will only go cheaper, and by that I mean pogs and cards.

My wife took a picture of the Christmas stockings she hung up for us and Pikachu is proudly surveying our living room.

I don't know if I'll ever use him in a game but he looks awesome on a shelf for $10 or so.

Yes.

They have talked about plans for a wide range of Amiibos and, based on preliminary sales results, it looks like they will continuing on with their Amiibo plans. This Smash line is just our first look. We might even see more complex Smash Amiibos based off of the All Start trophies next year.

Those look very cool btw.

They really are very nice. I kept telling myself that i was going to not pick up Marth, WFT, and characters like that...but I'm probably going to buy like 90% of the Smash bros line.
It's not that bad, I guess, especially thanks to Gamer's Club Unlocked making them all $10.40.

They did confirm that they will make cheaper figures and cards (I imagine for pokemon)
But for the collector's market, I think making limited edition figures like that at a higher premium cost would be smart for Nintendo. (and i'd buy a few
...all of them. I am weak
)

They don't weigh too much and since they aren't supposed to stay on the scanner for too long I think it's fine.
