I'm starting to think that some of this is basically a self fulfilling prophecy.

It's spooked me enough into having a Gamestop hold one for me to go get it haha. I do not trust Nintendo when they say they'll keep these filled. I assume Pikachu, Peach, and Mario will stay filled but no one else.

Mates at JB. They're not hearing much good out of Nintendo and they don't even have Wave 3 as an option to pre-order like they did Wave 1 and 2.
Ah, OK. Yeah I noticed the JB site was a bit weird with the listings. Around when Marth and Villager became rare, they removed them from their website, then gradually removed more and more figures. Guess they're stopping preorders they can't fulfill, or sick of all the phone calls.

I have faith we'll get all the waves. And in the case we don't, I'll order the one I like most from Nippon yasan or something I guess.

I think it was meant to be street dated on the 19th because my Target said that.
Some Wave 2 is 12/30 like Pit and CF.

I guess they gave Toys R Us a week early.

It's still off oddly.
My target was selling the ones they got today because they were going off the original 12/14 street date.

I pre-ordered all of wave 2 at Best Buy. I just have to wait to pick them up. But I hope I'll be able to find Diddy Kong there. I didn't find any at Toys R Us and Target doesn't have wave 2 if I remember correctly.

There's around a dozen of all the chars at the stores near me sans the rare three, and they also never got wave 2 yet...hopefully it stays that way so I don't feel like having to rush myself to get the remaining ones I want

*just remembered my Best Buy had a sign next to the Amiibo saying that Luigi won't get here until December 30...sounds like a placeholder date :/

Not mine but I think this one looks great.

That's awesome good job. My question is how you went about doing it? What colour painting tools did you use etc? I've opened my Mario also and would like to customise it.

I just can't preorder them. I like to be able to compare their paint jobs at the store and try to get the best one. That'w going to make it really difficult for me, I guess. I went to five stores today and could only find Zelda from Wave 2.

I had to do that with Kirby.
So many were really off until I found a good one.

Anyone in the USA who has to preorder Shulk in store willing to preorder one for me too?

I live in Canada and Shulk seems to be dead on GameStop's website now.

Will pay in advance if necessary. You can ship to a local border store in Grand Portage Minnesota so shipping won't be too bad.

Pleeeeeaase!

Anyone willing to do this?

So, the rares at this point are Marth, Wii Fit and Villager, right? Mac and crew are just hard because of the second wave? I just need to know my priorities right now, lol.

Is Fox about to be hard to grab? I see him everywhere right now.

That we know of.
Because of the sporadic shipments, retailers using different dates for release, and scalpers it's all over the place.

The only sure fire info at the moment is that Zelda is definitely common.

Fox is quickly going the way of the buffalo. If you don't have one and can find one I'd probably pick him up.

I wonder if Zelda is common because Link sold so well. That's probably it. But I will hope for more in-game integration.

so are amiibos kinda building up in popularity? my impression was at first was that only the hardcore fans would buy them. now we got all the stories about the rare amiibos and 700k sold in a few weeks.

If you want him you should buy it first. Hard to tell what happens to the ones that aren't meant to be always available.

The Toys R Us I was at on Friday had like 50 each of Samus and Fox.

edit: Whoa. Just double checked. Totally out of stock now. It looks like all the earlier rumors of them getting harder to find has freaked people out into buying him.

I'm about to buy a Samus and Starfox to open in case there is future amiibo integration in their games and they are discontinued shortly. That barely even makes sense. I didn't like StarFox 64 and no Metroid game has been announced. Someone please intervene.

Was in Oxford Street, London doing some Christmas shopping, and impulse bought Pikachu at HMV. Pretty decent price, £10.99.

However, the point of this post is that after that I wandered down to Hamleys in Regent Street, and in the GAME downstairs they had all of Wave 2 available a week early. Luigi, Diddy, Pit, Captain Falcon, Zelda and Little Mac. £14.99.

Since I'd already picked up Pikachu, and because I have Luigi, Pit and Falcon preordered at Amazon for cheaper, I held off for now. But LondonGAF, that's where you can find some early! Hope that helps someone!

So.. anyone else having a hard time deciding if they should open their Amiibos or not?

I'm having mixed thoughts on what to do, as I know their value is gone if un-boxed, but a the same time they look so much better and take up a lot less space by not being in a large plastic container.

I was lucky enough to get the last Marth at a local TRU, and I can't get the thought out of my head that he's easily flippable for $50...but at the same time I'd rather have it displayed without the box but it would ruin its value.

Pretty sure i could walk to a store and get all the "rare" ones easily.
Belgium ain't no amiibo country.

Fellow Belgian here, I can't find any of the rare ones. To be fair I live in Antwerp so I wouldn't be surprised if things were different outside of the major cities but yeah. :/

They're not gonna unlock stuff in their future installments if they get discontinued now. If anything a Star Fox branded Fox would unlock stuff in the new Star Fox game if it does have Amiibo support. Same for Samus. The current ones might also unlock that stuff if they use the same chip but change the figure itself

Wow amiibos are getting so frustrating to get. Scalpers who buy all product in store, preorders that are not shipping, retailers now knowing when theyll ship, Rosalina not being able to preorder making the scalpers want her more and buy 10 of her with one order. Captain falcon luigi and pit not having a solid date is frustrating when you know scalpers will buy them all in store, except luigi.

For my collection purposes it always comes down to "Will i actually ever sell this".
However my collections are always for my enjoyment and for that I instead like to open it. Also the fact that the metal bar prevents scanning also ruins things anyway.

JB Hi-Fi NZ had a whole bunch of Amiibos up on their website to order this morning. I ordered a Diddy Kong a couple hours ago, and now ALL Amiibos are absent from their website..
