Scored Little Mac this morning.

A bit of back story. Yesterday I tried going to Target about 15 min after they opened and their stock count said it was in stock. I got there and they weren't on the shelf. When I asked about it, the guy said he was about to go put out Wave 2. So I figured I lucked out since nobody was able to buy it yet. When he came back all he had was Diddy Kong and Zelda. I asked about Little Mac and he said this is all they had. I thought it was odd that their stock count claims to have them and they had not put them out yet but were supposedly all gone. I know their stock count isn't live and up to date, but I thought that should have been reasonable.

Fast forward to this morning, I take a quick look at the stock indicator to see if they've changed and some have, but some haven't. Some are still showing up in stock. So I go to a different Target this morning and the shelf is empty. I ask the employee and he looks it up and says that they have 4 in stock. He goes in to the back and pulls out all four. They never put them out. I think that's what happened at the Target I went to yesterday.

tl:dr - Target inventory check might tell you where to find Little Mac as it seems like some Targets didn't put them out yesterday so you have to ask for them to find it in the back.

Does everyone think Dedede is gonna be rare? I've already got so much preordered, but I really need him to fill out the set of Kirby and Metaknight, but I just odn't feel like preordering any more right now. I'm just hoping that Dedede might not be super rare since Kirby wasn't. -___-

Think about it. Does anyone really care about Dedede? Do you see lots of Dedede merchandise?

Yeah I'm guessing he'll be a low print, for that reason. So yeah, my gut tells me Dedede will be another rare amiibo. Depends on how Nintendo is handling distribution then though. They might change strategies since demand is high.

YMMV... Kirby was (and still is) the rarest character here after Villager. I've seen probably 3 dozen Marth and a dozen WFT and only 2 Kirby on launch day, and not a single one after (and I check a couple of stores nearly each day). I've seen Marth a couple of days ago, and WFT saturday. Kirby is nowhere to be seen.

(although at the end, it seems that we'll get a Kirby restock, and probably not WFT/Marth soon...)

In any case, I wouldn't expect Dedede to be a large print, though.

I'm currently sad at my amiibo state of affairs.

I preordered the Little Mac, Captain Falcon and Pit amiibos the day they went up for preorder on Amazon.

I got a shipping confirmation email yesterday that Little Mac is on the way, followed shortly afterwards with an email from Amazon specifying that they did not know when Captain Falcon and Pit would be shipped and gave me the option to cancel my order on them.

That's pretty messed up, if you ask me. I don't know if that's because they just didn't get enough Cap and Pit in stock to fill their preorders from DAY ONE, or if Nintendo is just poorly handling this roll-out of wave 2 and Amazon never got Cap or Pit and legitimately don't know when they're receiving them for sale.

Either way, I'm kinda bummed. Of all of the wave 2 figures, I've only seen Zelda and Diddy Kong in stores around me. Not sure when Cap or Pit will show up around here, and most websites show that they are sold out. What the heck is going on with these figures?!

I have a really nice suggestion for displaying your figures. I use these for my Disney Infinity and now for my amiibo.

Michaels sells baseball bat display cases that open up in the front via magnet and hangs on the wall. You can just pop out the brackets that would hold a bat and voila, super classy case for your amiibo �� They're $60 but a lot of the time they're half off or you could use those 40% off coupons that are always floating around.

Seems hard to tell which ones are rare, based on Wave 1, Wave 3 has a lot of figures as well. Since there are exclusives, will that affect rarity? The exclusives will technically be lower quantity and rarer right? (In the US, we are mostly fucked in Canada).

Ike will probably be rare, unless Nintendo stops with their strategy of making less after what happened with Marth.

Toon Link, Sheik, and Bowser should be plentiful.

That leaves Megaman, Sonic, and Dedede which could be like Yoshi, DK, Samus, Kirby etc. Or it could end up like Wave 1, maybe Megaman and Dedede will be rarer with Ike?

I'm only buying the characters I like instead of trying to complete the entire set. I definitely wanted the entire set previously, but I've given up. Anyone know what the cheapest method is of getting a Marth right now, factoring in shipping costs? I'm looking to get a non-US one since the US ones are just wayyyyyyy too expensive.

I'm mainly looking at it through the eyes of my 7 year old niece, who is a huge smash addict, and loves amiibos, but is constantly frustrated she can't do more with them -- or do anything at all with them other than 4p/8p smash mode.

If something seems obvious to a 7 year old, why is it not obvious to Nintendo?

To be fair, 7 year olds don't take much into account aside from "why can't I do what I want to do with this thing?" They're not worried about breaking the game at that age because that's what a 7 year old wants to do. When I was a kid I'd search out the most over-powered character I could find in a fighting game and spam the crap out of their OP moves, which is something I've already heard about kids doing with Charizard's dragon-charge move in the new Smash. No kids I know are worried about how games are designed to work for everyone, they just want to find the one thing that works really well for themselves!

I don't know how you could add amiibo to the game in more ways without really altering the way the game works or altering the way data is stored in the amiibo...

• If you add amiibo support to online, you have to re-structure everything so that they're disabled in certain game modes, which further dilutes the player-base.
• If you add the amiibo into the classic modes, it could alter the way the game progresses, letting people just unlock everything by running their amiibo through classic on easy mode to level up the amiibo, obtain character trophies, beat challenges, and unlock characters.
• The memory storage in an amiibo figure may not be enough to hold figure player data and a custom fighter for player-use. I agree that this seems like an easy, logical thing for an amiibo to do, but there could be a technical limitation we're not seeing.

All that having been said, I do hope that Nintendo is able to add some more functionality to these figures over time because just fighting a figure player alone isn't enough to justify purchasing them.

However, one thing I'm considering is buying a Pikachu and having my friend (who mains Pikachu) level that figure up and I'll do the same for him with one of my mains so that we can sort of "fight eachother" from home.

I'm personally excited for the Fire Emblem and Pokemon characters, Lucina, Robin, Greninja, Charizard and Jigglypuff.

Other than that I want Olimar because it'll be one of the best Pikmin figuers (unless they mess up the Pikmin, seems a little too complicated from the character select), Duck Hunt, Bowser Jr, Zero Suit Samus, Palutena.

I hope those come out I don't think I'm too hyped about the rest.

In the long run it's hard to guess if exclusives will be more valuable, retailers may be more inclined to restock exclusives. However, once the first supply runs out, absolutely they will be quite valuable at that moment anyway because of fear that one won't be able to get it. You have kind of already seen that in this very thread once Shulk preorders stopped.

At this very moment people are selling preorders for all 4 exclusives together for $150 on ebay and people are actually buying them.

yeah, im not dropping the money for an entire set, especially with the rush of having to buy them now. I just want a few characters I love like Fox, DK, diddy, and ness whenever he comes out.

Amazon.de currently has Marth. You'll have to see what it will cost to import but for me to import Marth from the UK when it was available there was about $30.

I don't plan on opening any of mine until I have a nice dust free display case. Putting 50 little figures on a normal shelf is a no no for me because it becomes a pain to clean around and to clean them every week.

Have people been able to buy the second wave Amiibos yet? Up here in Canada, I went in to buy Captain Falcon last Friday at EB Games, but because of a recent snow storm it got pushed to Saturday. I went in again the next day, and now they told me they will be receiving it on the 20th. Does that seem to hold true for everyone else buying second wave amiibos?

All the stores I've seen have a couple Zeldas, but none of them (I've checked over 9) have had Mac or Diddy. Captain Falcon I don't think is on sale until the 30th,at least according to best buys site

I'm in the U.S., and my wife managed to find me a Zelda, Diddy, and Little Mac on Friday. I've been keeping a close watch on all my local stores and they all say the rest of Wave 2 was delayed (which we knew).

I think I might have gotten the only Diddy in town. As of today, there are Zeldas and Little Macs around, but Diddy is nowhere to be found.

Yeah, they made a mario with a fire basketball, so they could make a punching captain with fire around him. Propably too much details. Nevertheless, it's falcon. No mather the pose, he's still the best (favorite character rant)

Ah man, after reading another member's post about how he checked Target's website and saw that his local store showed they had wave 2 in stock, I decided to do the same. My store (which is luckily right across the street) showed they had stock, so I ran over there really quick and I ended up scoring the last Little Mac and Diddy! They also had a ton of Zeldas, but I figure I'll be able to grab that one any time in the next week or so.
