Totally don't expect it, but I would love a villager if someone's picking up only the other two.

Long shot, I know, but I'm desperate :p

For those who live in the NYC area, could it be possible if someone could purchase a Villager Amiibo & ship it to me? I can pay by PayPal, & it would mean a lot to me. :(

I'm just bumping this. For those who are still interested, please PM me, as the Villager Amiibo was never released in my area & I would love to have the little guy.

Does anyone know if Target's website will show items "in stock" even if they have already been claimed by online shoppers? Yesterday I had two local Targets that showed Little Mac and Diddy, but when I went to one yesterday, they had none and I watched an employee check the inventory with his inventory gun. It showed zero Diddy's in their inventory, and little mac wasn't even recognized by their system (he spelled it right). I searched again on my cell phone and it still showed Diddy Kong as in stock for that store.

I thought it may also be that the website updates each store's stock based on what is listed on the order that that particular Target is receiving, rather than what is actually received in. I know in my retail days, we didn't count the inventory coming off the truck, so if the order said there was product that wasn't there, our store inventory had it listed until it was eventually corrected by daily sectional inventory checks.

Oddly, later in the evening, Diddy Kong was then showing out of stock at both Targets, but Little Mac was still showing as in stock. I drove to the other Target store just now, and it doesn't have any Wave 2, including Little Mac, and still, it's showing as in stock.

In fact, Toys R Us has effectively about 6 exclusives right now, including Luigi, yet their website has the opposite problem - they keep showing their stores around me as "out of stock" of any amiibo I search for when they actually have shit loads of them. And now, their website doesn't even recognize Luigi, when they're the only game in town selling them.

Standing at the section in BB in Ohio here. Plenty of DK, peach and Mario. Handful of Samus and Fox. 2 Yoshi and a Kirby.

Their Nintendo section is really poorly taken care of.

Target stock is not reliable. I went to one where it said "Limited Availability" and they were completely gone. Not just for Amiibos but also video games. Their site stock status is garbage.

I ran into a similar issue at Target. The story I got from one of the workers was that their inventory numbers only update every 24 hours - which I find hard to believe.

I think it was probably either an employee stashing the amiibo away somewhere so they could buy it at the end of their shift, or they were in the back warehouse somewhere and they had no idea where it was and weren't going to bother to check.

I lucked out when I used it to grab my Zelda and Little Mac.
But yeah like most inventory checkers it's always hit or miss.

TRU at Pembroke Lakes Mall Florida (next to Petco) had lots of Zeldas and Luigis, no other wave 2 stuff though.

Don't bother going to the Target/Best Buy in the immediate area, nothing there.

Just got my pre-order down for Shulk, since I know he's gonna be rare. Not sure if I should pre-order Megaman too or if just walking into a store on release day is a realistic option.

Preorder everything as backup. Got a dupe? Return or give to a friend as a gift.

that's not actually bullshit, i work at walmart and the inventory count doesn't update automatically when a purchase was made.

also, inventory count could just be wrong, could be stolen, could be damaged and sent to claims.

or the last part of your post.

Ok, kinda off topic but since it is about amiibos, I'll say this here: went into the store that I bought my Samus, the whole stock (of wave 1 popular characters, so calm down) was still there: 2 Kirbys, 2 Pikachus, 2 Donkey Kongs, 2 Marios, 2 Yoshis. The only one sold since the day I went there was Link (goddamnit).

I finally found a Zelda here and got her, it was just her and Diddy which I skipped. Reflecting back on it, I probably should have gotten him for one of you guys.

Stores like Wal-Mart and Target use a periodic inventory system? I find that hard to believe nowadays...they should be using a perpetual inventory system. They have the money and infrastructure to do it that way, and it's far more accurate on the company's end and the customer's...

It's true, in fact when you check for in-store stock on walmart's mobile web site, it actually tells you (for example) "Stock status last updated 12/16/2014 at 12:00am".

I wish this was the case for most stores. Of course, especially in large stores it's difficult to keep track of inventory (people DO like to hide things around the store, after all). Doing inventory counts should probably be done more often in stores, even if it is a HUGE job to do.

I have all of Wave 1 but I just picked up an extra WFT and Villager from the Nintendo Store (no Marths left) for you GAF folks. Whoever wants them just quote me. Just pay for cost and a few bucks to ship.

For Luigi, if you guys are looking for a good paint job, I had to look at 5 of them before I found a figure where the bronze button paint didn't end up on the denim. Other than that, I saw no problems with any of them. But that was an odd issue. I guess I can understand why I had to look at two dozen Samuses to find one that had no flaws (especially the crevices of her helmet and the lack of metalic paint in the black parts around her ankles and hips), but not for a proper couple of bronze buttons. If you have the fortune of choosing, might as well get the highest quality you can!

NY Nintendo store still going strong. 1 of each per customer. If you're in the area get here NOW. Also met a fellow gaffer on line, haha.

want to say thank you for the heads up here. ran over and got a Villager, which is great because I've looking for one a while now. gonna make my girlfriend's Christmas that much better!

I want that villager!

edit: beaten :(

if any other GAFers pick up an extra villager at NWS and want to sell let me know!

I would offer to go track down some, but Target/Walmart has not re-ordered the rare ones in Wave 1. My Best Buy never ordered them.
Glad I got them all before they went gone.
