Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Been looking at the past few pages (we have a lot just today!), did I get the most Rosies? Limit at stores varied from 2-4 per person.
 
Best Buy opens in a half hour. I'm going to see if I can grab a Toon Link there and then I'm done with Amiibo until Meta Knight & DeDeDe come in the mail. Not interested in Wave 4 or the Mario series.

For those who collect Skylanders or Disney Infinity figures, are there supply issues for those? For amiibos it feels like there are commons(pretty much anything mainline Mario) and crazy rares(Mac, Falcon, etc.)

I would like to make sure my disappointment is accurately aimed towards Nintendo and not that this is a standard practice.
 
Looking at detail/design, which Amiibo is your favorite so far? I just ordered Bowser because the detail on him is fantastic, my favorite figure of the bunch.

As for my Rosalinas they both have silver paint (from her crown or wand) bleeding onto her hand or hair. But overall better quality than the Sheiks. Its a good thing I didn't cancel my Gamestop Sheik preorder. Hopefully I get a good one.

Ugh yeah. Started out wanting all of mine to be as perfect as possible, but now I'm just settling for anything that has a decent face and only minor paint errors.

I really want a perfect Shulk though.
 
Successful morning for me! Was first in line and got Rosalina, Shiek and Toon Link without much trouble. My Target of choice had about 15 or so people in line, and all of them seemed to be fans/collectors. They all (for the most part) respected the order of the line, and there wasn't any running or mad panic behavior that I experienced. I even got in some rounds of smash 3DS before opening, and have a couple of new folks on my Wii U friends list. A very good experience for me overall. Sorry to those who weren't as lucky. :( Going at 5 am paid off, but I think more people will start going earlier from here on out. Wave 4 and beyond are going to be extremely rough I'm sure.

There's nowhere near enough stock to meet demand, even for Rosalina. Probably 50,000 released for the entire US.

I collect infinity figures and I haven't had a problem finding what I wanted.

All you have to do is say something in a stern voice. (Not going to fight anyone of course unless they were psycho and attacked.)

Had situations in the past where people tried stuff and I told them in a stern voice to get back in their spot. They have all listened so far. If they didn't I would either step in front of them or ask the people by me to save my place while I talk to an employee. I won';t stand for garbage like that. People that get up early have a right to their spot without someone trying to slip ahead.

People usually play dumb when you say something to them and get in the back of the line
 
These are the times I'm thankful to live in a area with rich old folk. Went to my local target and saw 12 rosalinas the guy said max was 6 per person so I had my SO get the other 6.

Glad that's worked for you. Seems like a good way to get in a fight, though.

there's been plenty of success stories here but let's not forget, this is a "day-1-and-I-line-up-early-in-morning" scenario

let's see what all of this looks like in two weeks.

This is a longshot, but if someone gets an extra Rosalina, I'd be interested in buying it. :(

I live in Central America and I've ordered most of my amiibos already, but Target and Gamestop are the only sites that don't allow me to use my international credit card. -_-

I'd have it ship to my dad's house in Miami, FL.

My friends are at work, and it's not like I broke the store limits or anything. I camped out, I played by the rules, I was up front and honest, and I drove and waited and drove and waited; none of them are getting scalped.

What's the problem?

It really isn't. A common tactic is when the line starts moving someone tries to slip in or someone comes late and joins their buddy, talks to them, and tries to keep their spot. Never had any problems after letting people know that they need to go to the back though. No one is going to fight over that unless they are nuts. Other people in line don't like it either and will have your back even if they are afraid to speak up.

Sounds so fun honestly wouldve loved to be in line with like minded people.I have Toon Link and Mega Man preordered from Gamestop anyone gotten an email update?

Well if anyone has an extra id love to buy him from youThis forum is my only hope maybe someone with 4 Rosies would make my month.;)
 
Come on guys I'm probably as sore as anyone about not getting Rosalina today but there is no excuse to attack a fellow amiibo-GAFfer about getting more than one. We should be happy that they are going to non scalpers so that people can enjoy them either to unlock stuff or as a collection and not some quick cash grab.
 
Best Buy only got Shiek, Toon Link and Bowser. Bowser was easy to find, all toon links except 1 were claimed by preorders (whom was taken right in front of me by a guy who ran through everyone else who lined up) and they only got 2 shieks, both taken by preorders.

Gamestop here doesn't open until 11 so I said screw it and went home. Glad I got toon link and Rosalina at target. Was disappointed by Best Buy though.

Is that a serious question? It would be pretty stupid of them if they allowed that. They would have 0 for customers that walked in without ordering online.

Well, you never know who is nuts and who isn't. So as long as that contimes to be the case all should be well.
 
Hey guys. Managed to snag a Rosalina from Target today that I intend to trade. Unfortunately, though, the packaging was slightly damaged in transit somehow. 1 large crease on the right side of the cardboard. If there are any amiigos here willing to trade another exclusive for my Rosalina and don't care if the packaging is damaged, shoot me a PM.

Is this a serious response? Who cares, it's a process they use to buy goods for every item in the store. I have never seen them do this for any hot item product, they shouldn't start with these. A sale is a sale no matter which one of their avenues it comes from.
