Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

I don't understand why they need the Amplitude IP for this. Can't they just call it Wavelength or something? People will know what it means.

Although the biggest problem for me is that current and previous generation controllers aren't going to be very good for this - you really need the three digital shoulder buttons the PS2 controller had.

if this wasn't called amplitude they wouldn't already have +$20.000 funded

GUYS YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW BAD I WANT THIS TO BE MADE

Man, I loved Amplitude so much. I've wanted a sequel/reboot for so long. Rock Band Unplugged/Blitz are neat, but they really aren't the same thing.

I'd buy it if it happens, I'm not supporting a kickstarter though. Freq & Amp are two of my favourite games, I've held onto my copies for years even thought I have no intention of hooking my PS2 back up ever. I just love those games so much (also, Spider-man 2. I wish someone would HD-ify that thing so I can get my swing on.)

the goal seems too high, maybe overestimating this IP a bit... we'll see I guess.

I don't see how harmonix benefits from this either, doing all the work and funding but somebody else owns everything anyway, that just goes against why everyone goes to kickstarter in the first place, lol.

Double Fine got $4 million based on an idea alone. I think $750k is alright.

You gotta be kidding me? Sony asking fans to fund this game? You have the money why don't fund it yourselves instead of begging fans for money?
So you don't want the game? You don't make money by just angel investing every remotely interesting project. The money the Kickstarter raises is Harmonix's money and it's a good interest gauge and fairly low risk.

I may have more to say, but I gotta Jetix.

Why does a company like Harmonix, that works with Disney and had the best selling Kinect series, need Kickstarter?
Just because a developer is working for Disney or someone doesn't mean they are swimming in the kind of munnyhz that they could put almost one million dollars into the development of a game just like that (and who knows, maybe they are spending some of their own money and that's why they aren't asking more than 700k).

I really need this game to have online multiplayer like the first one.

On the first one, you could upload your custom tracks for people to play--something ahead of it's time on consoles.

That said, I will back this.

Seems a bit harsh to only offer codes for the game to the first 1000 $15 backers. Can see the numbers drying up once they're all gone and people realise they're not getting a copy of the game out of it.

I can just imagine that Sony might be willing to throw some money/marketing behind it if they can prove that there is enough interest out there.

Anyone who now pledges $20 or above gets a copy. The $15 was special pricing.

I would back at $15 but I'm sure it'll release at $15 anyways.

Looks like it will release at $20, most likely based on the KS.

Because if people are going to give them free money, they'll take it?

It's not really free money. Most people will be backing the project via the $15/20 option, in which case, you're not giving them money for nothing, you're buying a product...albeit a currently non existent one.

Yea, that's usually where most backers end up and they're already almost gone. Weird to set it to only 1000 people.

edit: All gone now.

No thanks, I already have Blitz.

with sony owning the ip, i don't really understand why they didn't just do a thinly disguised spiritual successor

That was Rock Band Blitz.

At least their "go to Harmonix" tiers have airfare and hotel included though, always hate when Kickstarters have that kind of stuff and make you pay to get there.

I wonder if that amount has anything to do with convincing Sony that an appropriate deal is worth cutting. It would demonstrate a certain amount of interest after all, and maybe Sony aren't interested in selling the IP back to Harmonix.

That's what I took out of this as well.

As far as Sony and any other publisher knows, the audience has been gone for over a decade.

And all these had 30 days or more kickstarter. This kickstarter is only for 18 days.

Backed, for 15$ for now.

Is it port begging if I say that I will upgrade to, at least, the early access tier if there is a vita version?

Played amplitude demo on ps2 lots :). It was pretty fun, but I didnt get emotional attachment to it, so not really interested in backing...
