Analogies vs comparisons, which is better?

While I think raw data stacked up to gauge the value of an item in contrast to other items being held under the same criteria is important. I can't help but feel that the insights that can be discerned by viewing a relationship under a different context can be more rewarding.

I understand that these are two things have completely different functions. But I really think analogies are better. Discuss.

We cannot discount the fact that any answer here would require comparison!

I don't think you would be satisfied by your thread if all responses were in the form of analogies.

My friends/family absolutely hate that I use analogies for everything... but it's usually because I'm right and it's usually something I'm using to critique them, lol.

I love analogies because you can take abstract concepts with no real parallels and make them easy to digest.

If your goal is to take better decisions, you should always use all the tools that are at your disposition.
You can't expect to use one over the other and somehow arrive faster at a better conclusion.

To use an analogy, you know Tomato is a fruit and you'll end up putting it in a Fruit Salad.
To use a comparison, you'll know tasting different salad that's it's probably better paired with mozzarella and some olive oil.
