And so the E3 2016 Hype Begins

Super hyped for Mass Effect: Andromeda, Sea of Thieves, Red Dead sequel, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Also, very hyped for...
Destiny updates
Scalebound
Splinter Cell reboot
Horizon Zero Dawn
God of War IV
Deep Down re-reveal
TitanFall 2

I want a lot of Nintendo bombs.
Short fuse, Nintendo already bombed.

Exactly.

Yeah Nintendo basically killed most of my hype for this E3.
Maybe Ubisoft will show some good footage of Ghost Recon, and Mass Effect will look good? Eh.

Nintendo are in real danger of having an E3 showing even worse than last year's, but at least Sony will pick up the slack by announcing Crash Bandicoot, Shenmue HD Collection and the re-introduction of Agent, so that's a relief.

Now if they could somehow throw classic spyro into the mix....

Well that pretty much kills E3 for me. I have zero interest in VR and really dislike the idea of a PS4.5 and Xbox One.5 (especially this soon)

If anything, I'm interested in EA's the most since I want to see what they're doing with BF5 and Titanfall 2, as well as whether or not both are releasing this year. Plus they'll have Mass Effect gameplay.

Sony might unleash a megaton like Crash and announce God of War 4 but judging by release cycles this gen, we might not see either until 2018.

MS should be showing Recore so that could be something good. Honestly not very interested in Gears 4 despite being a huge fan of 1-3 and I'm not convinced that Halo Wars 2 is coming out this year. Plus Crackdown still seems like a long way off.

Watch Dogs 2 is probably one to watch but I still don't trust Ubi enough.

Impossible..unless Zelda is now an Amiibo party game.

That would save very little for me.
A Shenmue HD collection would be alright, but not E3 saving material.
And i say this as a Shenmue fan.

It's all about Mass Effect Andromeda, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, and Dishonored 2 for me.

Prey 2 would be a sweet reveal if indeed it is being rebooted by Arkane Austin. It's probably way too soon for a Cyberpunk 2077 showcase.

If Sony is able to give updates on last years announcement and throw in nier, persona 5 and zero escape 3 would make e3 beyond great for me. Zelda being my favourite Nintendo ip means I will enjoy their e3 but will be disappointed if there's no new game announcement.

Cyberpunk 2077 is confirmed to not only not be at E3 but most likely not be shown until 2017 at the earliest.

Forgot about Dishonored 2. That'll be the focus of Bethesda's show. I can see it releasing this fall.

I still can't get over the idea of Cash Bandicoot being a genuinely desirable francise resurrection.

Horses for courses, but utterly, utterly uninterested in it.

SEGA going to be a guest at Sony's conference, they will then unveil Shenmue 1 & 2 HD, plus Western release dates for Yakuza 6 and Kiwami.

That's what I am hoping for.

I wonder if Sony might reveal one of their secret JRPG titles? That's probably the only thing to look forward to this E3 for me I guess. All previous revealed titles like NieR Automata, Ni No Kuni 2, etc, are already in my day 1 buy list, so don't really care to see more of them. Release dates would still be cool I guess.

What I want to hear more about...
  • Persona 5
  • Danganronpa 3 for the west
  • Ni No Kuni 2
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn
  • Dishonored 2
  • Sony Bend's game
  • Sucker Punch's game

Games I'd like to be announced...
  • Red Dead 3/Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Surprises
  • Something to bring me on board with VR

I feel like Bethesda has something else up their sleeve to announce, else they're going to have a really disappointing conference otherwise.

This will NEVER occur, ever, but I would be soooooo hyped if this happened at either MS's or Sony's presser. I'll use MS's as my example since that one goes first.

Phil Spencer comes out on stage. He says, "we've got a very special guest to invite to the stage... one we've never had present before. Please welcome, Sony's Chairman, Shawn Layden."

Crowd applauds widely as this came out of nowhere.

Shawn Layden: "Today, I'm here to announce an unprecedented event in console history. For the first time EVER, Xbox gamers will be able to play online... against PS4 gamers."

Crowd goes absolutely ballistic. Tears are shed, the front row is visibly shaking.

Shawn Layden: "Starting today... (pauses for more applause, camera pans to a fan collapsing into the aisle) Rocket League players will have a universal player base. Followed by DC Universe Online, Star Wars Battlefront and coming this holiday... Call of Duty."

The audience begins screaming so loudly blood begins to shoot from their collective throats.

Shawn Layden: "We'll have more announcements concerning cross-platform play during the Sony press conference. So be sure to tune in. Thanks, Phil."

Paramedics are called to attend to the survivors.

I'm another casualty of Nintendo's hype-crushing-hammer that they dropped earlier today. But I'm still excited for Sony's show...I mean look what they did last year. Sure they can't pull off anything that crazy ever again...but they'll have cool stuff to show at least...

...I guess.

The NX coming in March 2017 is fine. Zelda delayed until then was also fine. Slightly disappointing, but fine.

NX not being at E3 at all is absolutely devastating for me. I've been marking the weeks on a calendar since February until E3 so we could see the NX goodness...I never suspected even for a moment that was a possibility.

Can you go to E3 without being in the industry? How's it compare to PAX east (as far as being there in person - always watch online)?

I dunno, seeing the next Zelda in extensive detail is still exciting for me. Sure we won't be getting it for ages but ah well, we can deal with the disappointment now instead of after a lackluster digital event like last year.
