Android Gaming Thread New OP

Wow I just wasted over 3 hours with the Android SDK and the Samsung drivers to make the SD card as Default. So it is possible! Why is this option not available then? Totally unacceptable. I can even move stuff to sd that I couldn’t before, to free even more space! How glorious!

Now I have a library of about 30 games :-)

Well, if you wanted to play mobile games, buying a low-end android smartphone is kind of not the kind of thing you want to do.

Didn't think it mattered, I figured any Android-phone would do. The Samsung Galaxy Ace is great as a phone.

I have a XBOX 360, PS3, DS, PSP and a PC for games. I was just curious, Android gaming is not a priority.

I can't believe that it's almost 2012 and there is still no option to save your downloads/installs on the SD card instead of the internal memory. This is worse than a floppy disk.

After fiddling with Astro for over an hour (deleting and backing up what little I could) I managed to make enough space to download Duke Nukem (59 mb, the game is 55mb). The game gave me an error and it didn't work. The "move to sd" option was grayed out and it was "private" in Astro so I couldn't make a backup. I had to delete it right away to make room.

This is way too much work and I can't be bothered with all this shit. Very discouraged about android gaming :-(
I hate to be a wretch here but you got a crappy phone. The hardware isn't too bad but that internal storage is abysmal. Most new phones have at least 2gb of internal memory to guard against that issue. Heck even my 14 month old G2 had nearly 2gb of internal space for this reason. What version of Android is your phone running? Check in the settings menu and going to about phone. If there's a way to return the phone, do it, and make sure to get one with a much larger amount of internal memory. I agree it's lame that the Market doesn't allow you to auto-download to an SD card, but now you know the hard way unfortunately. I really hope you can exchange the phone, I hate to see you get a bad impression of the OS this way.

Ah well my previous reply is moot then, sorry there's no way to multiquote on Secondapps Neogaf so I just replied before finishing through the rest of the thread. Glad it's possible but you're right about that being stupid and not allowing you to easily do that. The feature is available on many roms out there, like CyanogenMod 7, but I don't know what kind of community rom support is available for your phone.

PEW PEW 2. I cannot recommend this game enough (if you love shooters like Geometry Wars). I bought Pew Pew 2 after trying the free versions and it's so worth it. Really challenging, excellent gameplay and I think it's even better than GW (except for the graphics capabilities, naturally).

It's pretty awesome how much the Android gaming scene has improved in the past month alone. I never used to really play games on my Nexus One, now I'm buying a bunch (even if my phone isn't the greatest at running them)

Will try out Templar Assault. But god damn if Sleepy Jack isn't the most fun I've had with a mobile game as of yet. It's like a cross between Tempest and Rez. I find it's great both for short and long sessions as well. Along with Sonic CD, this is making me enjoy my G-Nex for gaming way more than I hoped I would.

What are some good action puzzlers about from 180 and Zookeeper?

Bummed out that Lumines clone Rebirth crashes on my GN.

For you Xperia Play owners, Onlive now has full support for your buttons. Can try out SSFIVAE and get entered in the contest they have running now.

Where are my tablet owners at?

Need tablet game suggestions (optimized for tegra & honeycomb). Opening my prime box on xmas, and I gotta be ready :)

I agree, the games have been coming out of the wood work lately.

Sentinel 3 is a fantastic tower defense game. Got it for .10... having a blast with it in my spare time haha

The ten cent sale, the influx of cheaper tablets and high-end phones, and a more unified strategy is definitely paying off for android gamers.

That and the excellent USB Joystick app. Bumped up my gaming even more. My folder organizer widget for games would be the size of a honeycomb homescreen were I to have it stretched.

In the same boat here. Been trying out various games just to see if they work. First things first head over to the tegra zone and see if anything tickles your fancy there.

Games that i've found work and are seemingly decent:

Block breaker 3 HD
Reckless getaway
Fieldrunners
Great little war game
Spirit HD
Hard lines HD
Inertia HD
Age of wind 2
PoolBar

Can't think of more at the moment

Anyone have any recommendations for puzzle type games. Games that make you think and strategize or have to use some brain power.

Stuff like

wheres my water
cut the rope
x-construction
7 little words
apparatus
enigmo (iphone i think)
bejeweled

What's the deal about EA Android store?

Is supposed to be this one, but there's nothing there. Where I can buy Dead Space?

Plus is there a way to cheat device identification? I want to try out some of GL's clones, but less than a handful are compatible with my phone.

Gameloft is having a $0.99 sale on the Market from the 29th to jan 5th. I'm hoping Oregon Trail is on that list, I've wanted that game forever now.

BlockBreaker 3 is prolly the best Arkanoid game out there. Yes, even compared to Shatter. Plus a fun disco style soundtrack.

Great, great game, the level design really shines at points.
