Android Gaming Thread New OP

After working on my roguelike game for the past year I switched gears and made a little casual/arcade hybrid game called Microchip Monsters. Launch a probe, let it bounce around and tap the screen to lay mines to blast virus enemies.

Gameplay video here - sort of Tron-inspired pinball??

It has a stage-based mode (unlock the next stage as you go) and being a roguelike fiend I couldn't resist throwing a procedurally generated mode in the game - ("Rogue" mode)

Here's the free version (with ads) and the full version with unlimited "Rogue" stages.

I kept the download size small by using a port of libmodplug for Android to handle the soundtrack. Other indie devs may want to check that link out.

My mother got Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Nice device. Should get one myself.
But... while browsing the games, i noticed there ain't RTS or TBS games. At least i couldn't find any. So, do any C&C/Warcraft/Starcraft-like RTS or Civilization-like TBS exists on it?

I think Starfront (gameloft starcraft clone) works on the Tab, but you have to buy it through gameloft's website.

Majesty is a fun little RTS-like game where you have to build up a city, overcome different scenarios, etc. It's been consuming my attention lately.

Osmos is out now on Android for $3.

Reminds me a lot of that Spore game that came out a few years ago that I had on my Nokia. I'm just worried that it'll get boring without things to accomplish.

Anybody try the port of Enigmo? Pretty sure that used to be a popular Iphone game.

Looks pretty good! After 100%ing Where's My Water I'm looking for more excellent puzzlers like that.

This thought occured to me the other day but why hasn't Pixeljunk ported anything of theirs to mobile? Pixeljunk Warriors is ridiculously awesome and would be perfect on mobile as the controls aren't anything too technicial

Currently enjoying Escape

Edit, looking for a topdown or Isometric Shooter, I have Dead on Arrival and age of Zombies, any similar in that style?

Hmm, looks like NiGHTS....bought.

Can someone please find a video of this? I've looked on youtube and just plain Googled it and cannot find anything. Why they don't have one on the Market is beyond me. I'm obsessed with Dustforce right now and would love to have something comparable, but mobile-friendly of course, on the go.

Possible exclusive for a period. They are on Facebook, so probably a matter of time...

Isn't there a whole Thread on the Flash version of this game? just play it for a bit in your browser and see how it goes

Is there any sort of wishlist-type functionality on the web market? Doesn't seem to be. Is the Amazon marketplace mostly 1:1 with the game selection on the official market? I can wishlist there. Still a PITA though, as most people link to google's.

Nope. Just buy the games/apps - it's not like you have to save up to buy a $1 game?

I've wanted a 'bookmark' or 'wishlist' feature for some time now too. I'm not prone to impulse buying as I like to finish a game before I get a new one. It's not the cost, it's just that too many options becomes problematic as well (if I buy everything I like).

Also, it'd make it easier to keep track of the ones I'm interested just in case they post a sale.

I need some help

My wife got a new Galaxy Tab 10.1 for Christmas, however we had some problems with it and did a RMA with Amazon. Amazon has sent us the new one and we have yet to send the old one back.

My wife started a few games on the old one she does not want to lose her progress in. Is there a way to transfer her save files over to the new device?

No need to be snide, not all of us like to blow money every chance we get. Sure I've got $1 to spend practically whenever I find something interesting, but why would you want to do that? Do you get a candy bar every time you pass a vending machine just because you can? Probably not, otherwise you'd be 500 pounds.

A wish list would be a great feature. I was just thinking the same thing while browsing the Market today, actually.

Try Astro:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.metago.astro&feature=search_result

It's a file manager with a lot of other options, including backing up stuff without needing root access. I've never used it so I cannot describe the functionality in detail, but that's what it advertises to do, and it's free too!

I guess you guys have a point regarding the wishlist. I basically only buy games after having downloaded and played the trial (if there is one) or if it comes highly recommended here (and is the type of game I like). Sorry if I came off as snide, that wasn't my intention.

No big deal, sorry for jumping to conclusions, I've just run in to that attitude on here before. I'm the same way with stuff, if it comes highly recommended and looks like I'll enjoy it, I'll usually jump on it if I'm willing to part with the cash. Demos/trials/lite versions are definitely nice to have though, I wish more devs would use this avenue.

Also looks like Where's My Water has been updated on iOS to include the new Cranky expansion. Hopefully we get it today too (just checked, not available yet for us)!

You could just bookmark the app page on your web browser.

I've been iOS gaming for about a year and have been pleasently surprised at how good it is.
I've been Andriod gaming for a month now, and ugh. The disparity between the platforms is far greater than I expected. Dungeon Raid definitely helps though.

Yeah, I hear you. My roommate has an iPhone4 and he's constantly telling me to grab games that I know will either never arrive or take months to arrive if they're not available for both platforms at launch.

The thing that breaks me hear is that he bought Superbrothers S+S and hasn't even played it yet. :c

A game advertised on the front page of the game Marketplace page, Tip-Off, should be avoided by all. It's a pretty bad rip-off of the amazing Stardunk. Download that instead! (Because a rip-off should either be as good or better, not worse. :c)

That's an interesting position, because increasingly there is parity. A year ago maybe you could say there's nothing good on Market. But nowadays there is literally more quality gaming than anyone could play. Can't see being frustrated other than just having to play every single hot game day 1. I'm having the same backlog problem that I used to have on iOS now where I just don't buy stuff unless I know it's really good. The only thing it needs for me is more asynchronous board games, but even iOS only has a handful of good ones.

Still not available apparently. I've recommended WMW earlier in this thread and it's such a great puzzle game.
