I have to Dead Space for PS3 which is still unopened after over a year. I'll get to that sometime later.

I hope you're aware that Dead Space for Android/iOS is completely different than Dead Space for consoles. It's a original game that takes place between Dead Space 1 and 2, with a different progtagonist.

Also Dead Space isn't perfect, but I'd definitely say its worth 50 cents. As far as touchscreen-based shooters go, it's definitely the best I've played so far, and I hope more games adopt its control scheme instead of using onscreen buttons.

better than shadowgun?

yep.. got mine from the Amazon free app of the day...

btw

12+-+2

12+-+3

i though that was really cool of them, to make this homage.

Also Angie Jelly (Angelina Jolie?), Gilly Gamesh and Frod Bigguns!

better than shadowgun?

Based on the ten minutes I've just played of Shadowgun, i'd say definitely

Your mileage may vary, but I think just tapping the right side of the screen to shoot feels better than having to hit a shoot button, and it gives you the entire right side of the screen to look around instead of just part of it.

What's with the criticism over the Dungeon game ending early? Less playtime than Game Dev story or what?

I keep itching to buy another Kairosoft game but I was waiting for the right one.

Bought Shadowgun, found it completely unplayable on the Galaxy Nexus due to the bug in the current Android version that causes multitouch to stop working on certain parts of the screen until you switch the screen off and on again. Too bad. Returned it, even though it was extremely cheap. I have no use for an unplayable game.

You stock? I do believe that bug is fixed with any 4.0.3 or .4 rom

Yeah, stock 4.0.2. I heard it was fixed in later ROMs, but who knows when Google/Samsung will get their act together and actually release an official update... (I know I could install a custom ROM, but part of the point of having a Nexus is that you shouldn't have to bother with that.)

But I'm also not sure I would enjoy playing a game with a framerate that seemingly fluctuates from pretty smooth (30-40?) down to 15-20 fps on a regular basis. Guess the Nexus GPU just isn't quite up to the task. But then again, it can't even run a much simpler 3D game like Wind-Up Knight completely smoothly (don't know whether or not this is another 4.0.2 issue), so that's really no surprise.

at 720p, our gpu is only a tad faster than the tegra 2. Sucks huh?

that sucks. I'm on 4.0.3 with a custom rom/kernel. The controls worked fine and the the game was butter smooth with no ounce of lag.

Osmos HD is a great game, I'm enjoying the music and the gameplay is solid (I barely play this asteroid type of games)

meh. Never played a Kairosoft game before and thought this might be a good entry point. Since you put it that way Ill pass and try another one sometime.

There's a free version of GameDevStory on the Android Mark-- I mean, Google Play, so you should give that a shot and see if you like it. Personally I think it's more fun than it initially sounds.

Well, then I guess my problem is either with 4.0.2 or my phone, because it most certainly wasn't "butter smooth". I do get the scores I should get in benchmark apps such as Antutu though (I know they are generally useless, but I figure they could at least work for checking if you're getting the performance you should compared to other phones of the same model), so yeah, I don't know.

Ok, stupid question time... I only have one Android device at the moment that I bought games on the Android Marketplace and Amazon Marketplace. If I get a Android tablet will I be able to play those same games on that device or will I have to re-purchase them?

Everything you buy on Google Play store (ugh) is tied to your Google account, so as long as you login using that same account on your new device you will be able to download your purchased games on it without paying for them again.

Not sure about Amazon Marketplace, but I'd guess something similar is true for it.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. I would assume Amazon has the same policy.

I finally put ICS on my Touchpad recently and have been trying to find some good games to play on the Android Market. I have an Android phone but don't game on it much.

Problem is, so many of the free ones really irk me. There are some good titles like Cheese Tower, but anything that has action in it (i.e. not a puzzler) is a 20 second play and insta-uninstall.

I had some great titles from Gameloft like Backstab and AssCreed that I wanted to try out but the Touchpad is incompatible, even though I already purchased the games on my phone from the market during a sale. Grrrr!

I'm going to keep digging, and I don't mind paying a little for a great game (like Cut the Rope). Some of the titles I did buy I stupidly did from the Amazon app store, and the Amazon App doesn't seem to work on the Touchpad, so all those apps I had I can't even access now.

I'd love to buy more games for my galaxy note which is soon to arrive but I only own an Desire/Nexus I right now and the market won't let me download it... :(

Buy Where's My Water? Thank me later :)

Birrzle is a fun, fast and free action Puzzler.
Quell Reflect is a very simple bit nice Puzzler with a very Zen athmosphere.
SpyMouse is great but loads really slow from level to level for some people :-\
Block Breaker 3 HD is the best Breakout clone I know.
And if you like Pinball, Pinball Arcade is of course a must. Needs a pretty strong tech to run well though. Tables are free until you hit a pretty High Score.
Majesty is the same Management/RTS hybrid from the Pc and is lots of fun for some time.
Last, if you like tower defense Lair Defense is pretty fun and free. Nice for pay are Jelly Defense for style and Sentinel III from pure gameplay.

Short digest from my roughly 50 games on my phone, nearly all "for pay" :-)

Some of the games that are 50 cents right now are totally worth getting, such as:

-Where's My Water
-Dead Space
-Zoo Keeper DX
-Pocket League Story

And if you didn't already get the Android Humble Bundle:

-World of Goo
-Osmos

Whole lot of people seem to like Shadowgun, but it hasn't really clicked for me yet. Feels like a run-of-the-mill Gears of War ripoff.

I would've kept it (but deleted it off the device) Not refunded it. Your next phone might be able to play it.

There's gotta be a fix coming soon, your phone is pretty popular.

So I bought Pocket League Story, but whenever I try to start it, I get this pop up (in-game) in Asian characters with an OK button.

I press OK and the game closes. What gives?

Saw that on CAG this morning. I picked up Goo, Dead Space, Zoo Keeper, Pocket League, Sprinkle, and Shadowgun. I already owned Where's My Water during the .10 sale and I couldn't understand what Osmos was.

Was going to buy the They have to Eat game or whatever it's called but I couldn't tell if it requires tilt support or not. For some reason my Touchpad with Alpha 2 of ICS doesn't work right with tilt games. Not sure if it's a setting I'm missing or if it's the Cyanogenmod flash.

Did you deactivate your wifi connection before you started the game? Kairosoft games usually need an active wifi connection when you start the game for the first time.

Osmos is a weird game to explain - its pretty slow paced but has enough variety to keep things interesting. id say watch some videos of the Pc version on youtube to get a feel for it.

Purchased all those but Pocket League Story [not a fan of soccer] and Shadowgun.

What other apps are worth getting?

Does anyone play UniWar? It sounds like the sort of turn based strategy game with asynchronous multiplayer that should be the killer app for the hardcore crowd that Android is begging for, but it still seems rather on the plain and casual side in terms of gameplay.

Which of these do you guys recommend?
  • Colosseum
  • Froad
  • Modern Combat 3
  • Sprinkle
  • Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
  • Shadowgun
  • Asphalt 6
  • They Need to Be Fed

Not gaming apps, but what about these?
  • TuneIn Radio Pro
  • mSecure - Password
