Android Gaming Thread New OP

I only dabbled with plant war so far but it was really annoying to play because the AI character could camp in the healing radius of his base while still defending it so he was basically invulnerable until he ran too far towards my base so I could finally kill him before he got home.

if you get the timing down, then it gets easier to completely own him

Is there a more recent must-have list of android games? The OP still has Angry Birds and Doodle Jump. Just jumped from iOS so only interested in stuff that is only on Android.

Edit: Fart fart fart, I guess the Terraria on Android thing was just a really dumb, really late april fools joke. Forget it.

Any Zelda \ Jrpgs out there besides Zenonia?

I am now an Android.

I'm probably going to be getting my first android phone soon (HTC One V). What are the must have games for android? I'm really into tower defense, rhythm, puzzle and RPG games on phones. I love playing Chrono Trigger on my iPod Touch, is it on the android app store by chance?

You should probably look into getting a One S if nothing else. I foresee the One V being left by the way side pretty shortly.

I'm not looking for anything complex. Just simple games like Temple Run, Plants Vs. Zombies, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Zenonia, etc. level of gaming. I'm not really looking into Shadowgun level games. Would it still be a problem then or no?

Nope. Here are some games that I have and I think that you would like:
GYRO (perfect simple game)
Osmos HD (great strategy/puzzle)
Strikefleet Omega (kind of RTS)
Lightopus
Radiant Defense (tower defense with style. Challenging, but fun/addictive)
Sprinkle (another good strategy/puzzle)
Wind-Up Knight (fun side-scrolling action)
Zombie Dash
Field Runners HD (tower defense)
Ceramic Destroyer (one of my favorite strategy/puzzles)
Cartoon Wars 2
Spirit HD
World of Goo (you should already know about this game)
Great little war game (turn based strategy),
Plant wars (rts/dota)
Defender II
Anomaly Warzone Earth HD (tower OFFENSE game).

There a bunch I haven't even listed that I've played in the past, but forgot about them. Some of these games weren't free, but Android has a few big sales a year.

Also if you're looking to play of your old time SNES games, there are SNES emulators such as SNESOID

I pretty much want nothing to do with games that have this permission:

AUTOMATICALLY START AT BOOT
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the tablet and allow the app to slow down the overall tablet by always running. So far game controls rather well. I have to wonder though what the specific tegra effects are, other than pools of water. That comparison video they had on youtube was pretty damn misleading. All the smoke, lighting, particles and screen effects are available when using high settings on non tegra 3 devices

I'm currently upset with the developers of Dead Trigger. I bought the game at 11pm last night and fell asleep waiting for it to download. When I woke up this morning at 7am, I discovered the game was stuck at 90% download. I stopped the download and went to restart it when I discovered the game no longer appeared in the market place. So, I searched for it on the PC and discovered it was updated to v1.01 (the auto start permission is now gone) however the game is no longer compatible with my HTC Thunderbolt. Yet I can play the damn thing on my Droid 1? I call BS. I sent them an email asking for a fix or refund, as its ridiculous that a Droid 1 can run the game but an HTC Thunderbolt can't. 600 MHz processor with 256 MBs RAM vs 1GHz processor and 768 MBs RAM.

My iControlpad has shipped. Hopefully I will have it by the end of the week, but might be the next. I'll talk about it when I get it.

Dead Trigger is pretty good. Seem to have some of the Tegra effects on my SGS3 (Water droplets on screen). I had to turn the graphics settings from the default low to high though. Runs well with the exception of a split second freezing I've seen a few times.

Well worth the €0.99

Yeah I picked up Dead Trigger last night too and played a few missions.

The graphics are great on my Galaxy Nexus (setting them to high allowed for some extra effects like the water droplets and such.)

it controls pretty well too. Much better than Modern Combat 3, which is the other FPS I've tried on my Galaxy Nexus.

Great pickup for a buck.

I got my first Android device with some decent specs, an Iconia A100. What is the deal with some games not being compatible? I meet the requirements. The Iconia is running ICS 4.0.3. For example one game says: "Requires Android: 2.1 and up" but when I go to buy it it says not compatible with your devices. It is obvious that IOS seems to be getting more of the "better" games will Android be catching up anytime soon?

Anyone played Majesty for Android? It's 99c at the moment. Is the core gameplay like Majesty 2 on PC?

I have and thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't played Majesty 2, but it's pretty similar to Majesty 1 on the PC with regards to the units available.

There are more conditions than just Android version: processor type, screen size, presence of various other hardware features (accelerometer, compass etc), region, probably other stuff too.

OK, thanks for the heads up. Still have to admit that this tablet is pretty sweet. The Nexus 7 looks real temping but the lack of a micro SD slot is a turn off. I see that Sonic 2 is now supported, yesterday it said no, so they seem to be real quick on that front.

How difficult would it be to use a prepaid card on Google play? Kind of wish they supported PayPal.

Anyone know any quick, simple drinking games? I played some game where each person takes turns pulling out a sword from a barrel, until a person pops out from it. It's just all luck. Anyone know the name of it?

Thanks. I tried the demo and it's pretty great. I find the text a little small and double taps are annoying, but otherwise its a lot of fun. Full version bought.

Any info on Chaos Rings II? A spectacular jRPG by Square-Enix, currently only available in English on iOS and Japanese on Android Japan.

This is a great game, supposedly.

Thanks for the recommendations on the Kairosoft stuff.

I grabbed the Lite versions of Grand Prix Story and Game Dev Story, just to whet my appetite.

Basically tore through the Lite version of GPS in one sitting. CRACK.

Might hang off for a sale on that one, but I'll try Game Dev tonight. It's a good price at the moment too, so I may bite on that one first.

Damn though, awesome games! <3 the pixel art.
