Today's FREE App of the Day on the Amazon Appstore for Android is Angry Birds (Ad-Free)

Previously (close to 18 months ago), Amazon has given away Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio was the first free app of the day ever, and only one of a select few (off the top of my head, SwiftKey was another) to be the free app twice, but this is the first time that the original Angry Birds was the free app of the day!

Hey guys, is there any way to upload media files using the browser on Android? Exactly like how you can upload pictures to websites like craigslist, some forums or pictures/files for your email through your browser.

Apple is letting users to be able to do this with Safari in ios6, just wondering if this is already possible for Android or is being addressed by Google shortly.

Amazon have finally launched the App-Store in the UK as well!

It's already possible as far as I know, but you can only choose one file at a time from the gallery app.

You mean uploading a normal file? It has been possible since the first version of Android.

Nice little update to Google Search today, we can now have 'emergency' cards for things like storms or earthquakes and you can finally manually add teams to the sports card. I hope they continue to add little things like this, I've found Google Now to be quite useful so far and more functionality will only add to that.

local history?

How? The whole point is that you search on your PC for something, then later when you pick up the phone, it has prepared stuff for you based on the previous PC search.

Local search would mean you would need to do the searches on your phone, to get cards on your phone? But that's what the search was for anyway.

HTC One X in white for £230, yay or nay?

So very tempted, it's a grade B product but from what I've read of this company it should be near mint condition.

yay. That's rather cheap. I payed 390€ (around 310 pound) for a one month old, mint One X and didn't regret it so far.

Is it Pentile? Yes.

but just when you thought you had the answer, Samsung changes the question.

Right that's all the encouragement I need :p Now, black or white?

Thing is, the white One X looks pretty sexy but after a year in my jeans it would be either yellow or blue so i took the "plain" black version.

If you use any kind of case, the white is unnecessary.

Went white in the end after hearing the black one can look rather greasy.

I think I'm going to turn my Google web history on. I mean what's the big deal its not like I'm searching for my social security number or anything...

Besides all my porn or what i would consider private or sensitive searches are on incognito anyway...

That doesn't go into web history since I don't sign into my Google account on incognito right?

If every pixel has 3 subpixels, why is it still called pentile. I am confused. Whats the definition of pentile?

I think Pentile specifically refers to layouts where subpixels are shared between pixels.

well, originally it was meant to refer to a 5 subpixel arrangement, but since then it's been used to refer to layouts where the subpixels are tiled in non-standard arrangements, as opposed to RGB Stripe or other standard arrangements.

I've had mine on for years, IMO you lose so much convenience with it off. Your history isn't saved in incognito. I actually use IE and private browsing for my por... er private browsing

Make sure to install the 4.0.4 update ASAP if it's not already installed. Fixes a ton of things for the international One X.

Shall do. Been looking around and they fixed one of the biggest problems with the Sense software I see with that on-screen menu button that HTC added themselves, using the multitasking button seems a much better idea.

I hope that the launching of new European App Stores will result in the Free Apps of the Day being awesome again for awhile, like in the early days of the original North American App Store. I'm going to start opening the Amazon App Store daily just to check like I did back when it first launched in NA.

I'm so confused. Why is that easier to make than standard RGB stripe?

For the mobile sports watchers, it seems that ESPN finally added Comcast support to the WatchESPN Android app. Assuming you have a cable TV subscription of some kind, you can now watch ESPN anywhere! I suggest being in a 4G/LTE area for the best video quality.

Modded my customized ZTE Blade with CyanogenMod. This reminds me so much of PSP CFW. I hit a few snags, but it was a success. I feel like I got a new phone.

I did this because a friend has the same phone but installed Ginger Stir Fry. I was so amazed at how much more responsive the menu was. I tried Cyanogen and... it's not as smooth. It's still the same even if I pick performance governor and set min frequency to max.

Ah well, at least I don't have to deal with the crappy login my carrier put. You basically couldn't boot the phone straight without turning on a connection BEFORE the phone goes off. Either you wait it out (~10mins) or turn on flight mode.

All these new fancy effects make me feel like I got a new phone.

Why does Samsung insist on releasing the ugliest colours for their phone accessories?

The S3 ones were bad enough, but the note ones are for the most part, atrocious:

It seems that now the Android apps of the day have to have language packs for English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. I imagine that should raise the bar of app quality should they keep that restriction (one that I can't meet 100% unfortunately due to having over 5000 words of text in my in-game rules).

Amazon really need a hit with the Kindle Fire 2, because their store is moribund as far as I can tell.

i just don't see it, with the Nexus 7 and the ipad mini, the fire really holds no advantages and significant disadvantages. They can compete against a new nook tablet.

Still think the Kindle branding holds well in a lot of people's minds even if it's not an e-reader. I think that does really well for them, and holds more cache than the Nexus 7 (irregardless of which is the better device).

That ipad mini is going to be a frick'n monster though.

But if they keep the price of the fire2 low i still think it will sell rather good because Amazon can advertise it pretty aggressively on amazon.com. I guess amazon is still one of the most used shopping sites.

So apparently Samsung: If Apple Releases an LTE iPhone, We're Ready to Sue

And the plot thickens. According to a report out of Korea Times, Samsung has confirmed that if Apple releases an LTE-enabled iPhone next month, the Korean electronics giant will slap them with a lawsuit immediately here in the States. Taken from analysis over at iRunway, Samsung currently holds 10% of all LTE patents granted so far and has waited for Apple to release an LTE iPhone for just this reason - deciding not to go after Apple’s less popular LTE-enabled iPad device. The “hit them where it hurts" approach.

As many would expect, there is no way Apple isn’t going to release an LTE iPhone this year. It’s simply become the standard that consumers look for when purchasing a new smartphone. Plus let’s face it, if Apple doesn’t release LTE on the next iPhone, then they will have basically screwed themselves anyways.

So, will Apple release the device and then gather their legal team once more for another showdown? With unveiling of the iPhone 5 in a matter of weeks, we shall see soon enough.

I also think that a comparable tablet to the Nexus would do wonders due to the Amazon name. Particularly at a competitive price. I already see a lot of Fires just out and about, I think its a very portable size.

i have seen a lot too, but it was the only device at that price point in a portable size. Now the market is about to be overtaken by much better options for the similar or (what i imagine is) a slightly higher price. The Amazon App market has also largely fallen to a graveyard. I'd be curious to see what they show and i expect some incentives for the tablet
