Wtf, apparently iOS doesn't let you record video and listen to music at the same time? (unless you're using Snapchat)

I keep finding lots of little limitations like that but I like using my iPod Touch so far.

I've been using Android so long that I didn't realize how privileged we are 😋

3D Touch is out for now, too revolutionary for Google to handle.

Documentation for the second preview release of Android N had raised expectations that the operating system update would add support to allow developers to take advantage of such screens.

However, sources confirm that the feature will not be part of the initial Android N release and will have to wait for a later release of the operating system, most likely as part of a maintenance update to the software.

A Google representative declined to comment.

I wonder if Google's phone are still going to ship with the hardware necessary for it.

Damn you Google

That 25% off makes me want to get a Pixel. Fuck I don't need that.

I bought it yesterday it came today, with the folia keyboard. Its pretty nice. Not really sure what I can do with it though as I've never had one of these new fangled tablets before.

3D Touch on the iPhone has been such a colossal flop that I'm OK with official Android support coming later. Maybe someone, somewhere will figure out something interesting to do with it by then.

The only good example I've ever seen is controlling the cursor with the keyboard.

I still think that pressure sensitivity won't bring much to the table in terms of usefulness, but it might bring us better screens in general. Much like how multi-touch is nonsense, but was necessary to get rid of resistive screens.

Multi-touch is nonsense?

Just the pinch gesture alone is worth all your money and mine.

Sure, it's that one thing where I think it's actually useful in everyday use. Pinch to zoom in photos, great stuff. Much like how the pressure sensitive cursor on the iPhone keyboard is the only thing that might justify the 3D touch technology.

Is the Pixel C dev discount tied to your account, or can it be gifted? I'm not gonna be able to get one now, so I figure I'd give the code away if possible.

Guys, random question. I dropped my phone in the rain for couple of minutes before noticing. I kept my phone off to let it dry for couple of hours - everything worked fine. Then after using the phone for about an hour, the touch screen stopped working while everything else worked fine. My phone is soaking in rice right now - Am I fucked ?

Leaving wet electronics soaked in rice so Asians can come and fix it is a myth.

yes. you probably are.

you were supposed to leave it off in rice for like 48h the first time and not turn it on at all to give it time to really really get rod of moisture inside.

waiting such a short time most likely didn't give it enough time to get properly dry inside.

Leaving it in rice doesn't do anything, that's an electronics old wive's tale. You should have turned it off immediately and taken it to a repair shop that can do solder work that same day. You still would have needed a new battery and maybe a new touchscreen but the phone might have been salvageable.

Yes you are fucked. Too much water has gotten into the layers of the touchscreen and the board is probably all corroded.

Oh look at what just stopped by the FCC

New Nvidia tablet. Wonder how much it'll cost, and if they will go the cheaper route of just releasing it from the get go without a stylus.

Can't believe there have been no new Nexus tablet leaks. Damn! I wanted a new Nexus 9. A good one for once.

Still think it's too early in the year.

All the leaks currently are focusing on all of the OTHER random shit Alphabet is doing.

I assume once I/O gets all of the shit like Android VR and the Google Now Echo unveiled the cycle will start for leaks on the next round of Alphabet shit.

From http://www.androidauthority.com/google-calendar-conference-calls-692213/

A new feature is currently rolling out to the Google Calendar app that removes the most irritating aspect of dialing into conference calls through the popular schedule manager. It’s long been possible to dial into such calls by just tapping on the phone number, but once the dial started, you had to manually enter the access code. This meant that you had to either quickly memorize this string of numbers, scribble it down somewhere else, or swap back and forth between the call and Calendar to punch the numbers in. However, in the next few days this hassle will be no more.

A new update is arriving that automatically detects the passcode and asks you if you want to use it prior to the call. That means all you have to do is tap the number, then tap the passcode, and you’re in. No scrawled notes, no meaningless memorization. Just two brushes of your fingertip against glass and you’re ready to keep business trucking.

Just tried it, and it works perfectly. Best Google Calendar update ever!

Ridiculous. That's so Google to make a new messenger yet again. Like clockwork.

Also, this is handy

If that new Nvidia Tablet is $299 then it immediately becomes the GOAT Android tablet. Basically Pixel C hardware for $299 in a slightly smaller form factor.

PS: I can't stop laughing at the old lady iPhone ad above.
