I need to know more about the software incentives with a pixel. Gimme me 2 years of unlimited cloud storage. YouTube red. Etc.

Throw some really nice incentives that cost them no money.

curious what the GAF take on the one plus 5 is? i need a new phone and really would love to not sped more than 500 if i don't need too. Am i going to regret getting a oneplus over a new S8 or S8+? Do they suck after a year or so?

They really should give free YouTube red. And not one of those bs free 90 day subscriptions either.

Nope. Op3 and 3t still runs faster than a bunch of 2017 phones.

Dash charging is ridiculous. Nothing wrong with getting a s8 either though. Getting one new under $500 might be hard though.

Does the SD821 in OP3T overheat and throttle or was that the fixed version of that SoC?
820 family was fine. Big improvement over 810. Oneplus phones also are top tier in terms of sustained performance. Good heat management. Xda did a piece on the op3 I think.

Good for those hefty unoptomized gacha games.

All the zoom stuff is the reason why I want a dual camera set up. Note 8 delivered strongly here. I prefer almost all the Note 8 photos in the comparison. They could literally just copy the camera to the S9 and I'll be very happy. In fact they should just focus on that, maintaining the same foot print, optimizing software more and 6 GB. If they do that, I won't about the $800+ starting price it's going to carry.

625 isn't outright terrible GPU wise, but no it's not the greatest for games. I mean I spent s bunch of hours on the Nexus 7 playing Hearthstone and other random games though so performance on any of the newer 600 chips is better than that. Lol
Depends on the game from my experience.

I don't play a lot of strongly graphical games (like those 3D shooters or racers) and mainly play stuff like tower defence (Kingdom Rush, PvZ), platformers (Mario run, Rayman, etc), and RPG's (KOTOR, Sorcery!, etc). But from what I be played on my Z Play it's been performing well so far.

I do need to try out Iron Marines, since that got a little slowdown on my S7 in the later levels.

It's more demanding than Kingdom rush?

Only for like one or two levels near the end.

I've never had slowdown on my S7 with the Kingdom Rush games, but I did get a little bit of slowdown in those levels.

There's a graphics quality toggle too (low, medium, high) but I didn't try it.

with zoom and bokeh being a factor now, I can't imagine pixel 2 scoring better than note or iphone.

iphone x might get higher due to slightly better camera gear.

So my lg g3 finally broke, and I'm looking for advice on a new phone. I'm on a budget, so I've narrowed it down to the Honor 6x, Moto G5 plus, and Axon 7 mini. Anyone know which is the better phone for the price?

I don't have the G5 but I did buy the G4 last year and it soured me on Moto phones. While it had good specs for it's price and ran fine at first it later turned out that the phone had software and hardware flaws that Lenovo never bothered to fix. If you turn brightness over 25% or so the touch screen goes haywire automatically tapping certain parts of it and the battery goes bad and requires replacing. These issues only showed up a few months to a year after purchase.

funny how that works...

they changed their test to boost dual camera setups.

then review a very questionable selection of devices.

Didn't it also have big issues with image retention or was that just the plus?

Ask me about the GAF Notebook

G5 Plus is the best budget phone going.

Keep in mind though all of these phones lack NFC.

If you're willing to spend more but not flagship pricing you could get something like a OP5 or Moto Z/X

New things:

The SIM situation has been cleared up – this is technically a dual SIM phone, with one nano-SIM slot and one permanent eSIM (embedded SIM). Both GSM and CDMA are supported, so presumably you’ll have your pick of carriers.

There’s no word on the 3.5mm audio jack, but there’s something called Adaptive Audio Amplifier. The Pixel XL 2 boasts three mics with noise cancellation and Wi-Fi calling.

Unfortunately, the specs for the camera department have been cut in half. Only the selfie cam is listed – 8MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture, nothing new here. There’s nothing on the main camera (other rumors suggest 12MP with OIS).

The “Pixel Visual Core” caught our attention, though. Rumors suggest that Google has created a special chip to do image processing, going beyond the HDR+, which runs on Qualcomm’s IPS.

"Adaptive audio amplifier" might be a DAC of some sort

Could be the weird thinig the HTC u11 does that "adjusts sound to the shape of your eyes" by blasting/listening to white noise

Really do wish they'd up the ram. Clearly that component cost basically no money when I'm seeing $200 Chinese phones with 6gb of ram.

My op5 holds apps better than the pixel so there is actual usage benefits.

VanMardigan

has calmed down a bit.
I can't find my iPhone headphone dongle, there is no apple store near me and because I'm in a disaster area because of two hurricanes, keeping my Bluetooth headphones charged is a pain in the butt. It's hard enough keeping my phone charged. So here I am with a ton of headphones and no way to use them. Please oh please Samsung keep making phones with the headphone jack.
