Android Wear |OT| 2nd Gen is Here

What's the Persona one?

It's finished:

You can download this (WatchMaker) face here: http://facerepo.com/app/faces/details/persona-4-14c1d77e0c6

Figures on the right are: AM/PM, battery percentage for the watch, battery percentage for the phone and current heart rate from top to bottom.

The image in the top right is the moon phase (I didn't want to repeat the current weather, as it's already in the calendar part).

Just round, sorry.

Should I jumo on this? Who here has this watch?

I got one a few weeks ago from GAF's Buy/Sell/Trade thread and I have been very happy with it. I haven't worn a watch in years because I hate wearing them, but the functionality this thing offers is sufficiently nice to more than make up for the burden of wearing it. I get a lot of compliments on it.

I'm considering a Sony Smartwatch 3 and some Bluetooth headphones for the gym.

Phone in pocket, watch to change songs etc, minimal wires.

SW3 is also fairly waterproof, from what I hear. Good for showers.

Anyone got any experience with this kind of set up?

Not specifically the SW3, but I've showered with my Watch R on and it's fine and I think the SW3 is more waterproof. The setup with music controls is fantastic, but you can also put some music on the watch itself and listen to it there if you want to leave your phone in the locker too.

You can even store some songs directly on the watch itself, I think. I haven't tried it myself.

Ooo, thanks for the tips chaps.

I use Spotify mostly so it'll be a case of having my phone in my pocket as per usual, I reckon.

SW3 isn't too expensive on Amazon uk atm so I might pick one up.

Yeah, Google Play Music will detect if you have an Android Wear device connected and will prompt a card that asks if you'd like to store your offline music to the watch. If you don't see this option, you can activate it in Google Play Music settings.

It's convenient but playing music directly from the watch drains the battery about 1% per minute, so it comes at a big cost.

I'm here to answer my own question. I already have a couple of decent sets of IEM's so decided to try a bluetooth receiver/amp - ELECOM LBT-PAR500AV

Read some good reviews about it and was fairly cheap so thought I'd give that a go. Cheaper than buying a new dedicated set of headphones/iem's.

My 360 battery life seems to have taken a big hit recently.

- I don't use ambient mode
- I turned off wrist gestures (no idea if this matters)

It doesn't specifically seem to date back to the update, but a little while after.

Any ideas? Are there rogue apps that now have AW components that may be the issue?

Maybe Facer if you have that. Moto 360s battery has always been really iffy for me especially compared to my OG G Watch. Oh, and maybe WiFi if you have that enabled

I do have Facer, and it hadn't been a problem before. Perhaps the specific face I am using is doing it.

I have had it since near launch and charge it nightly.

I forgot I had tried Wi-Fi, that's probably it. Just turned it off.

Hi guys didnt even know this thread existed. Moto 360 here. Is there a watch band thread or do you guys just talk about it here? I want to grab a new one for my Silver Moto 360 metal if possible

Just do it here. Honestly if you're going to spend money on a watch band go with the motorola made version so you don't have to make modifications to the third party versions.

That looks nice I like the look. I rarely even notice the flat tire though it would be cool if it was gone but it won't stop me from getting the second version if its still there. I think next model features would be better battery life can never have too much battery

Full changelog:
Changelog for Android Wear OS 1.3

- New Interactive Watch Face API

-New Google Together watch face ( takes advantage of the IWF API )

-Bigger Cards ( they fill up all the screen width, gives an impression of a more solid bloc i like it )

- New Weather App

- Slightly tweaked ripple animations all over the UI
-Tilt to wake gesture wakes the screen a little bit faster ( fast enough to notice the improvement )

-Some cards background changed for example the clear weather on Google Now is now warmer

-New Google Translate App

-New Accesibility Options

-New Developers Options
-Tapping on a watch face with No-IWF support doesn't do anything you will have to swipe in order to get the drawer ( and that's good thing, imagine you are using an interactive watch face, taping the watch face would trigger the custom action AND open the drawer ... tangles tangles ... )

Now changes that are device specific :

LG G WATCH R :

- Wi-Fi support

-New charging screen taken for the URBANE ( looks similar to the Moto 360 one )

Sony SW3 :

-New charging screen

- Rounded Corners on the UI

- 3 New watch faces

Just updated, the two G Watch R specific updates are great even though I enabled WiFi months ago, native support is always better.

I think going rounded corners on some of the square watches is probably a good move to try and get some UI uniformity. It was clear it was suffering trying to get both square and round faces.

Is this new android wear update like an OS update, or the android wear app update? I have the app update (version is 1.3), but I don't have interactive watch faces.

OS update. Should.be rolling out over a few weeks.

EDIT: Decided to take a look and mine on the G Watch R is downloading as we speak.

Haven't used Pujie Black in a while, just went back to our due to its Interactive compatibility, but wow, they added a lot of new options to it, I've been missing out.

I'm surprised the flat tire is back. It was one of the top complaints about the first generation version. I would have thought they'd do anything to get it out of there.

They definitely seem like they're doubling down on it. Not that there is probably anywhere else they could possibly put their ambient light sensor I guess.

for the wifi, do you have to set up your watch on your wifi network, or does the phone pass on all the details like SSID/password so they are always both on the same network?

If the flat tire is such a problem, there have been plenty of good round alternatives. What's wrong with the Urbane if you want a metal regular watch? You can put any 22mm band on our you want, so that can't be it.
