Being able to create an actual BAND in single player now sounds great, because it means I won't have to see that god damn heavy metal rocker guy singing El Scorcho.

It was posted in the other RB thread, but signs are leading to it being fake. Even your link follows up with titles being incorrect etc. I wish it was real as it's an amazing list... not getting my hopes up though.

I actually would quit out and re-enter sometimes so I could get a good band there. I mean, sometimes thoes guys cramp my guy's style.

RB 1 had the Rolling Stones, Bowie, Radiohead, Nirvana, QOTSA, The Strokes, RHCP ...

I hope HMX is keeping some good surprises because, somewhat, I still think the RB2's playlist lacks some big bands to have an as great impact as RB1 had.

It has Soundgarden, Rush, Alice in Chains, Linkin Park, Elvis Costello, Grateful Dead.

What are you talking about? Those are huge artists.

Yes, I don't want to be mean to those bands in the first post (I like a lot of them by the way) but they look a little like 2nd grade compared to those who were in the original Rock Band.

IMO.

edit : they're talented, sure. But do these have the same exposure than the Stones or Bowie for example ? That's why I talk about impact.

Well, if I didn't have RB already and I had to choose between RB1 and 2 after both were released I'd take RB1 without an hesitation.

You're kididng, right?

You listed Queens of the Stone Age and the fucking Strokes.

The Grateful Dead, Elvis Costello, and Soundgarden are "2nd grade" compared to the Strokes?

Dude, what?

I'd compare them more in their own genre/style and era.

Like Strokes >>>>>> Hot Hot Heat.

edit : There's a genre in which RB2 improved, it's thanks to RATM and SOAD. Not my favourite style unfortunately.

edit 2 : "Soundgarden, Grateful Dead" I already had these ones.

I always liked the Lumberjack. It fits with the look Rivers had around 2002.

I'm glad I didn't have to come here and plug this. Stay tuned for Chris' story about Harmonix later in the week. He visited Harmonix several times and talked to a bunch of the key players. It's gonna be a great feature.

Yeah, that was a great piece. Looking forward to more (and just later in the week? Woooo!)

That says Finger Eleven for Panic Attack, which isn't right.

Awesome if true, but I doubt it (Finger Eleven mistake ruins it). Hot for Teacher would be soooooooo awesome.

The video shows them going through the difficulties and it doesnt list the bands.

So it could be them just guessing it's Finger Eleven.

Video looks very real, but it might not be

Sadly, I didn't go. :( It's all Chris since he lives close to Boston. And he's kept his lips sealed tight.

If we do another bunch of stories about music and games I certainly want to get the Guitar Hero/Neversoft side of the story.

As already stated in the update via N4G:

N4G said:
Update: Upon further summation, the video seems fake. Many of the songs are spelled wrong, and the background is not moving as it does in the original game. It's a decent fake, but probably fake, nonetheless.

Here's a link to a video that shows the current Rock Band song selection:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6koMT2n-izE

And here are some of the misspelled or wrong titles (from the video in question):

Santaria - Should be Santeria
What's Your Frequency Kenneth? - Should be What's The Frequency Kenneth?
Want To - Maybe a Sugarland song, but that's unlikely to be in Rock Band
Rodeo - Should be Down Rodeo (Unless it's Garth Brooks)

Plus many songs on that list just seem really unlikely

Also, after playing Guitar Hero 1, I would tear my hair out if I had to play Cowboys From Hell again :(

AstroLad said:
funny that people go through the trouble.
I know. I hate seeing a fake list with a band I'd love to have in the game. I would love to see No Doubt, Sublime and Phish in Rock Band 2.

I think Phish would be a great band to have since they're all awesome musicians. I don't think Farmhouse would be the best choice, but I'd love to see Stash. One of my favorite Phish songs.

But what can you do, I'm so hyped for this game.

Now I'm gonna be sad that there wont be any Pantera in Rock Band :(
there's still hope...I mean, all lists could be completely fake and instead we could get everything from Far Beyond Driven and earlier (so want to play Becoming....)

I do not avoid women, GAF, but I do deny them my essence.
If this game doesn't have the online content that the PS3 version needs I'm going to be so pissed. It's almost broken right now. It's seriously a disaster.

I'm very happy to see that. It puts to rest any fears I had about the Activision and Vivendi (Actiblizzon) merger affecting Rock Band (Vivendi owns the Universal Music Group).

When it comes around, can whoever makes the Official Rock Band 2 thread name it "Kathleen Turner Overdrive" (or "Barry Jive and the Uptown Five"). That would be so awesome.

For fucks sake, it's coming out in September fucking already?

Kinda feel screwed now having bought the first game. Custom Set Lists should have been in the first god damn game.

I've got a couple of ideas running through my head, most of which involve "Saucy Jack". But it's a long ways off.

Bullshit, shitty fucking covers confirmed

1990s
Foo Fighters “Everlong”
The Muffs “Kids in America”
Red Hot Chili Peppers “Give it Away”

but, really, all masters kick all ass

I simply don't understand this mindset.

All that fun and all those good times you had playing the game for the past nine months is somehow negated by the announcement of a sequel? A sequel that happens to include features everyone has been clamoring for?

I simply don't get it, unless your in PAL Land, but in that case you won't be getting the game in September anyway.

for friendly competition it's a must. but for online and not with friends... yeah, it sucks.

I'm guessing he bought it much more recently than launch. I don't think anyone who has had the game for at least 4-6 months already hasn't gotten more than their fair use out of it so far. At the same time those who bought the game within the past couple of months I could see this as being annoying, especially with the promise of much better hardware coming with it.

What? You can't choose the difficulty for score duel and such on PS3?

So this time around if your playing by yourself you have the option of using a setlist? I can choose like 5-10 songs i want and they will play seamlessly 1 after another?
