He looked nervous but come on, no need to rip on the guy. I've seen these so called "professionals" conduct worse interviews, in the sense they want the readership or views but won't even go near any issues their audience has.
Jim Sterling interviewing Larry would of been interesting. I think Jim would of been more controlled and less flustered than Joe putting forward issues.

I did the best I could with 500 things flying around in my head. Did I go to school for this? hell no. But yet I get whiny little armchair generals like you breathing down my neck every time I try to get some gamer questions answered.
I did complete my mission. I first asked positive questions, and slowly started to ask the more poignant questions. I got new information, I got MS to see that their message has been extremely poor and confusing, aside from maybe 3 more questions I had that I didn't get to I did the best I could.
I'd love to see how you would do with no experience at all, while PR is circling your camera from one side to the side hawking you to stop the interview or to interrupt and DRM related questions with, "Next Question".
I did the best I could with my level of experience, knowledge, and preparation under unfriendly, rushed conditions. Trying to balance PR deflects and strategic long answers in order to stay on topic.

Just watched the interview, better than what Joe thinks of it himself so he should stop beating himself up, the only reason no journalist asks those questions is because they have to kiss PR ass and keep a good relationship to keep having interviews and exclusives.
I hope Joe succeeds and keeps going, my only advice for interviews is to come up with a list of 3 questions and 2 extra questions for times sake.

Larry doesn't appear to be a very genuine human. He pretends to be a fun loving, scarf wearing, hip to new trends fifty year old man but in reality he's just a crabby old goat waving teenagers off his lawn and scouring for the best early bird brunch specials.

Hey Joe, try and get in touch with David Jaffe for a interview. he seems very approachable and a popular figure in gaming, I think it would be good experience for you and would make interesting viewing.

Joe even in your first video you were already beating yourself up for that interview. You had absolutely no reason to. Sure it could have been better. It always could have been better. That doesn't matter though, it was still good.
And anyone saying you should have pushed harder and such...I don't even know what to say. They're saying it just to say it. A brain is all you'd need to realize if you had pushed any harder than you did it would have ended much quicker and worse than what it did.

You did very well. I was expecting a lot worse based on the first comments.
It's easy to get flustered when the person you are interviewing isn't giving straight answers. That's in any facet of life, be it PR or just asking any person a regular question.

Dude. Wtf. God Damn. No understanding how some people perceive the world and seemingly CLEAR events.
What perks do I have? Everything I get I have to WORK LIKE HELL TO GET. I get dismissed CONSTANTLY. No matter how many subscribers I have, you say "youtube" and you see eyeballs glaze over. Yet the person behind you in line drops "IGN" and all of a sudden people jump out of the seats and magically space clears up and they get a sit down interview. I want you to watch my upcoming interviews and see where they are conducted, they off in small corners, I literally muscle/slip my way into areas in order to make room, in order to make things happen. No one is wiping my ass with golden TP. I went back to Ubisoft and EA EVERYDAY of the event, every OTHER hour to land what I did.
I went back to MS no less than 4 TIMES. Running back and forth from the South Hall (where most of the games were) to the West Hall (where MS was) to try to land this.
Perks my ass. From time to time I will get a review copy, rarely, but they often stop coming in after I do a negative review. I've come to not rely on them anymore. There are only a very select few companies who really understand youtube and treat you well, trying to get you interviews and previews of games so you can share them with your audience.
I didnt bend down for no one. But im a freaking human being, and when someone tells me they could lose their job or something, or looks seriously concerned from what I just did, I FEEL BAD as any human should. Did it stop me from doing the interview? Did I stop me from asking the questions I was going to ask? Did it stop me from putting up the damn video? WTF man. Seriously.
If you wanted me to scream and spit at Major Nelson, you are just plain ignorant.

Watched the interview! I wasnt a fan of major nelson troughout the interview. Seemed very dodgey talking about the bad aspects of drm :/ still worried about xbox one.

Not THAT awesome. You can do the same exact thing today with 360/PS3. Its digital disc loaning with 10 family/friends members. If you are playing CoD on the XB1, no one else can play it, but they can play your other titles just like if you lend them those said games. Its cool that its INSTANT which helps greatly nowdays but this isnt the make or break feature we need when it comes to a DRM console.

But as you can see, I knew that shit would happen regardless from my haters/detractors, so I was prepping myself for it, but I swear to god its just impossible when you see how twisted some people think and their perceptions of who you are and why you are doing this or that. Its just crazy. Regardless I still read everyone's comments in order to continue to improve.
Admittedly, that would be hilarious.
Maybe if Angry Joe decides to call it quits one day he can go on a truly Angry Rampage, but I dearly hope that day will never come or at least is still extremely far off in the future. There's still many games I want him to review, so many more videos I want him to upload.

It must be very hard to get those interviews. Its like a choice between either being on E! or a public access television program. I know that being in a professional scenario can make things a little hard when asking questions. Which is why those 24 hour in depth interviews are always the truth now, rather than the truth when it actually happened. Why Geoff Keighley probably raises his brow to the things he dislikes or gets paid for. When he was talking about using an offline device in that Mattrick interview. I sensed Keighley could weigh in on how we all feel. But who knows. They want money, they support their company, its like one giant circle.

I saw the interview a few minutes after you uploaded it Joe and I can say that aside the lack of "professionalism" which isn't as bad as you put it, its more about the situation and surrounding that you were in (and the fact you don't do this as a job), anyways, that stuff aside you did GREAT! You really put out a lot of questions that some other "professional" journalists wouldn't even dare to ask, you really put Nelson under stress and it shows even though he tries to hide it with his PR/cool guy attitude and responses which he's clearly trained to do. You even managed to get some bits of new information out there and more importantly you really showed Microsoft how awful they're being at their PR/stance with the Xbox One.
You did great and really earned my respect (and sub as well, actually I kid I subbed a few weeks ago), if people were expecting the "real" Angry Joe they are out of their minds and have no idea about human interaction, I'd love to see them try to do better.
Anyways, you did really good, keep it up!

Seriously. It's like people that scream at actors on screen saying they could do it better. Go ahead and get in front of that camera and light crew... all the people watching, and on your first try just feel as comfortable as all can be.
I thought Joe did a great job. Great interview. It's harder when you have goons watching you as well.

At the end of the day, what's important is to get NEW info, that should be the main, the objective should not be to make MS or major nelson look bad, we did learn that if a publisher chooses to remove DRM entirely that MS is willing to work with the Publisher, although why on earth would they want to do that? lol

I hope you can interview some Sony rep soon and ask some hard questions like is the PSN store gonna have a set time every week instead of being late and unpredictable like it is now. Also can PSN handles can be changed for a few bucks going forward and if PS4's PS+ fee will improve servers for MP and increase download speeds for digital content.

I really liked how you handled it even though I didn't like the message coming from Nelson. You didn't need to draw him out that much because he wasn't going to give you anything anyway. You would have just blown the interview and got shut down if you'd pressed him more. That was pretty obvious.
Keep up the good work Joe. What you need is a wrangler and assistant (even if its a mate) to help you nail down some interviews at these events and also help you on the camera. Two heads are better than one.

Just chiming in that the show has been a breath of fresh air and I hope it continues to grow. Every day I see more and more people bringing your channel up or spreading good word, you're obviously doing something right. The assholes are gonna give you and everyone like you shit no matter what you do, so you might as well just ignore them and spend your time having fun and doing what you do.

I LOVED how pissed he got when he kept bringing up DRM. Guess what asshole no one likes it! And don't give me "family share" as s fucking excuse. Sony has been doing Digital sharing for the PS3 since day one. They even had to scale it back because i assume it got abused a lot hurting sales. I keep on reading about so called "perks" for always online and DRM, but wtf is it? You can't do family share without those 2 features? Give me a break.
