Well I guess technically any piece is removable if you try hard enough. 3DS XL doesn't seem any easier to take apart than any other portable system. At least not the top shell.

Nice to finally see a solid black LL, and the Mario red one is a lot nicer than the plain red one. I still like the look of my plain white LL the best, so I'll be sticking with that.

The frustrating thing about the 3DS XL is that the color finish is just a REALLY THIN decal. Dropped mine from three feet up in a parking lot (getting into a car) and was very disappointed by how easily it scratched and the unsightly black plastic underneath.

Curious whether the all-black finish is also part decal.

...I hope this never comes to the US because I will grieve for days over being stuck with my plain scratched-up red.

The AC 3DS reminds me of some of my wife's underwear. I like her underwear, the 3DS on the other hand is atrocious. But then again I think AC is horrible. Holding out hope for a Metroid 3DS XL at some point in the West, but only as long as the inside is black. White looks so cheap.

I get that the Zelda one came over, but it was Zelda's 25th anniversary and people go gaga for stuff with the Triforce on it, so its hardly the best example. Or at least I'm pretty sure people like Triforces more than they do non-25th anniversary Animal Crossing pajama patterns.
