The best discovery I've made is that AC:NL comes pre-installed on the poptart, so I can just turn it on, port my data over, and start playing right away. No waiting to download how ever many gigglebytes it'll end up being.

I think it removes the game if you transfer your data (you can still download it for free). If not, I'm very pleasantly surprised :D

That's fair because we can only buy TimTams here in the UK from specialist stores :)

Haha. I was on holidays in Noumea and discovered Tim Tams in vending machines. Full-size packets too, not those "snack" sizes. I was surprised to say the least. If we can work out something similar for Pop Tarts...

I bought Fire Emblem Awakening off the eShop and the download took around 20 minutes. Don't know how big that game is compared to AC though

I'll be working when it comes out, and then I have to hope Nintendo sends me the code all right. So by the time I get it downloaded it could like 8 o'clock at night.

Would it be a missed opportunity starting a town that late through the day?

Anyone in Europe gonna buy a 3DS just for Animal Crossing and want a free digital download of MH3U on the 3DS as well? I should be able to give you a donor code =D

What a sick promotion ! Too bad no one around me will buy himself a 3DS :(
so if anyone is interested PM me and i will give the code away to a fellow AC gaffer :)

Even if it were the same price though I'd buy it digitally but it isn't so I've gone physical.

What do you mean? Here it's $35 retail and $35 in eShop.

I really didn't want any digital games on my 3DS but I think I'm going to cancel my amazon order and making this the exception

Wait... So if I transfer my 3DS into my new Pop Tart, it deletes the game? That sounds royally dumb.

I don't think it deletes it. If you just copy the SD card files from the old 3DS onto the Poptart's SD card and then perform a system transfer everything should work. ...I think.

It essentially only transfers the license, not the data. That's why you have to re-download it.

Yeah you have to redownload it after the transfer

It sounds like he's talking about transferring from his old 3DS to the new Poptart which already has AC installed so it wouldn't delete the game then, I believe.

Technically it doesn't delete anything, but because the pre-installed copy of Animal Crossing is on the SD card, which is rendered unusable by the Poptart 3DS post-transfer, you have to re-download it onto the SD card which was originally in your old 3DS.

The fact that retail games on the EU eShop is £40 is such a big slap in the face. It should be the same price as retail

Oh right, completely forgot about that. D:

My world is slowly crumbling around me knowing that I will have to wait even more time before I can play now.

I guess I'll just have to go outside or something while I wait. UGH.

Oh it's an EU thing? Wow, that is pretty sad.

The thing is, even if they brought the digital price down to RRP, most retailers sell under RRP anyway. ShopTo are doing it for less than £27. So it's still not worth it.

EDIT: Apparently, as above, it's £35 in the UK digitally. That's still £8 more than ShopTo and certainly £5 more than pretty much everywhere else.

Nintendo needs to offer some kind of discount service for the 3DS, not unlike the one offered with purchases of the black Wii U console.

New Leaf's pretty cheap, actually.

Despite the poor currency conversion from dollars to pounds. Ah well, i'm happy mine's part of the free NoE promotion.

Infact, who else claimed ACNL for their free title?

So, I'm not sure if I should put my Friend Code on Gaf or not. How does it work? Would anyone be able to come into my town and do whatever they want? Would one-time Nook shop be bought up by other players? I'd love to be able to go to other towns and get weird other-region items, but I don't want my little ecosystem to get messed up.

We are still getting screwed on game prices, of course.

$35 digitally in America, converted to £ at the current rate is £22.97.
Add 20% for VAT and it would be £27.56

Or, going the other way, our £35 game in America should be... $44.43.

Ouch. :\

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced and trustworthy means of obtaining NoA/US eShop prepaid cards? I'm based in Australia and most online stores have charged a premium for just a code.

I did, I did, I did!

Tomorrow supposedly

Oh, awesome. Did you notice on your Club Nintendo account the banner has now disappeared? I think it's because we've claimed it and just have to wait now until next week.

Has your banner disappeared too?

I realized last night that I hadn't registered anything to Nintendo Club for the past 2 years, so I went on a registering binge.

I have 1200+ coins now, but don't see anything worth spending it on except for the Game & Watch... Hmmm...

Even if you put the friend code on the sheet, you'll still need to type the person who added your FC anyway. And it's your choice if you wanna let anybody in, you either keep your town gate open so your friends can get in or close it off and noone gets in. When they come to your town, yes they can pretty much do what they want in it.

It has. I winder if it returns when the code is released. Or else I have no idea where to find it

It will change to this.

Oh, thank you for the screenshot! That really REALLY helps!

Did you claim the DKCR? If so, how long after release did it take for that to appear?

I believe people claimed midnight of release, I logged in when it was 9pm Friday XD. Just don't wait for an email they tend to be late, just go and log into Club Nintendo at the midnight of AC's release and it should be there =)

There's a seller on ebay by the name of madproffessor that sells codes for $2 under their worth ($35 card for $33, etc.). You can request they just send you the code in a message; did this and it worked out fine for me.

note: they have a limited supply so I'd hurry if this is your plan
