Annapurna is partnering with Remedy Entertainment to co-finance Control 2

Remedy makes such great pc games and those stupid epic deals limits them so much. Control would have been such a bigger hit if it launched on steam day 1, same with Alan Wake 2.

But then they would lose the sales from the initial release on Steam.

Yep, it’s dumb to release first on Epic. I guess Epic cash was needed for dev maybe, hard to say. If they still do it again with Control 2, that would suck.

These are the issues GAF had with the game: EGS exclusive, no physical edition on release, and they didn't like the secondary main character + a few lines she said.

My own issue with the game is that I'm a cheap/patient gamer and I'm not paying 60-70 dollars for 99% of my experiences, so I'll gladly buy, play, and discuss AW2 in 2-4 years.
Right, so all terrible reasons 🤣I’ve never ever understood fanboying over storefronts 🤣…I can’t remember the last time I bought a physical game, and whilst I do agree that some games are overly “woke”, I really didn’t find that with Alan wake 2, and actually preferred the parts playing as the cop.

They're also partnering to bring AW and Control to the cinema and TV.
This is great. Sam Lake is a big TV/cinema lover and always wanted to mix video games with TV shows. Quantum Break was the first ragged attempt; it was better in Control but way less obvious. But they nailed it in AW2 with the seamless switch between real actors and in-game cutscenes.

Hope this'll work out for them!

Well, the good news for them on that point since then is that a physical edition is coming this October.

To be fair, if physical copies had a cooler-looking version available, like laserdiscs with sleeves, I would also be a physical copy kind of guy. As it stands physical movies and video games have looked ugly to me since the jewel cases and DVD boxes of the 90s and 2000s.

You can bet your ass that Sweat Baby is also part of the project, they'll do their darndest to not disclose that.

It's kind of sad to me that Remedy just can't make money on their own.
I wouldn't worry. They've made enough money to buy the rights to Control and essentially position themselves to self-publish two IPs. They're also working on four projects all at different stages right now.

As long as Annapurna isn't investing too much into this that's cool I guess.
They publish some of my favorite smaller scale games, hopefully they don't start to struggle financially by trying to chase bigger scale projects, specially with a studio like Remedy which doesn't have the best track record with sales.

I never played Alan Wake but I've been told I'd like it. I like all types of games, I think. Should I give these a try?
Also, start with 1? Or skip to 2?

I hope so. I like their games. It's sad that most of them haven't been very successful financially.
