My kid's showing a strong interest in coding and stuff like that (picked up a bit from Minecraft modding) and god knows he won't be learning it in school (or from me lol). Was looking at these camps, they look pretty great and are "rated #1" I guess, whatever that entails.

Can anyone share their or their kid's experiences? Im mainly curious how "rigorous" the camp is. I dont want to spend $1000 a week for him to play video games at a camp when he can just do that at home for free, but I do want him to have fun obviously.

Taught by amateurs. Probably the best you can get in a none tech filled state/city but if you have other options take those instead.

The C++ course I attended 2 years ago was pretty bad. They had this track system (levels kinda) where you go through slideshows and then they tell you to code based on what you read. The "instructors" were clueless about almost everything.

Well I mean, I'm in Los Angeles so I would assume there is something better, I just have no clue where to look or what to look for. Thanks for the heads up, I suppose I dont mind a couple comp sci majors teaching the kids java coding but I would definitely like to know if there are "pro" taught camps

Yep. I would look into other options. I hope you find some pros. Made a huge huge difference for me. Made my entrance into coding very smooth.
