Any gun owners lurking...

What is it, exactly, that you don't like about the sights? Visibility? Layout?

There's a lot of custom gun smiths that if you had an idea that you liked, they could make something quite similar happen.

You know what it's not just the sights I was never a fan of Glocks in the first place and the Gen 4 20 didn't make me a fan. I only purchased it because I was in the market for a 10mm and I didn't want a 1911 style. The thing had glowing reviews. God I wish there was a XDm 10mm!

I'm not sure what it is about the sights maybe its the fact I don't like it enough to try and figure it out. With every single one of my guns I'm dialed in and very accurate (All my other guns are metal). With this damn Glock I'm not even close. My friend who's been a long time Glock owner and isn't as good a shot as me picked it up and was way more accurate with it than I've ever been.

F it I'm in new gun for Christmas mode. That EAA and M1A are mine :)

Ha, I feel for you. I never was a big fan of Glocks. I don't like striker fired guns. I prefer DA / SA with a decocker. Not there's anything wrong with striker fired guns. I just prefer being able to see what firing state my pistol is in just by observing the hammer.

Took my 9mm shield shooting finally, not really a fan. I don't know, I just feel incredibly inaccurate with the thing at any range. Don't know if I got to get used to it or what, but shooting my 1911 and Baby Eagle 2 on the same day, I was having no issues with my accuracy... but with the shield I was spraying shots everywhere.

My man!! Love that damn gun. What caliber do you have it in? Mines a .40. My hands are way too big for those tiny little guns. I hate them.

I promised I'd eventually post my kit. Without further adieu, I present you my Everyday Carry kit (minus the M4, for obvious reasons):

setup.jpg

In picture:
-Daniel Defense M4v5 (Chambered in 5.56, non-LW barrel, with Aimpoint PRO and Magpul MBUS)
-CZ75D PCR (9mm) with Meprolight Tru-dot Night Sights and VZ G10 grips
-2 spare magazines (Standard capacity, 14 rounds)
-KZ Tactical Pen
-Pepper Spray (Sabre)
-Streamlight Flashlight

Missing from the picture? My knife. Currently without one. Looking for suggestions on a replacement.

Holy crap, you don't do things half-assed do you? Do you live in an active war zone?

Ehehe, does Detroit count as an active war zone?

In all seriousness though, most of what I carry is so that I don't have to use lethal force. Pepper spray is a good stopper. The flashlight is blinding in lowlight situations. The pen is a good force multiplier for striking, along with the flashlight.

I work in a field that has painted a target on myself, along with my family on some occasions. I don't want to go into specifics, but I'll say I'm on the right side of the law. I've had to use some of the tools listed on more than one occasion due to this. Thankfully, it has never needed to arise to lethal force but it has come frighteningly close on one occasion. Worse though, my wife was put in a similar situation in our own home. If she hadn't latched the deadbolt on our front door at the moment she did, there's a good chance that she'd of had to use lethal force on an intruder. It's for these reasons that I'm as prepared as I am.

Yea got it .40

Wonderful gun, my 2nd favorite pistol to shoot outside my 1911.

My Handgun collection in order of favorites
  1. CZ-75 SP-01 Tactical or Springfield 1911 TRP
  2. Springfield 1911 TRP or CZ-75 SP-01
  3. Baby Desert Eagle II .40
  4. Smith and Wesson 386 XL Hunter
  5. Glock 20 Gen 4 10mm <-- Bye Bye
The top two change for me all the time.

Man, my Bumpski stock gets here on Wednesday. The wait is killing me. ;_;

Does anyone have recommendations for a compact single-action hammer-fired pistol for under $500 (such as a 92 FS but smaller)? I have a Beretta 92D Centurion which is a great CCW gun but I don't carry... And I'm not a big fan of it being double-action only. Not a huge fan of striker DAO guns either.

Ideally I want a Beretta 92 Compact (same size as my D Centurion but with a single-action trigger) but they're pretty hard to find...

EDIT: Alternatively, I've heard of people turning a DAO 96D into SA/DA by using a SA/DA sear. I assume you could do the same on a 92D. At the very least I want to lighten the trigger pull on my 92D because it's like 11 lbs.

Well fellow gun-Gaf, my silly Bumpski AK is complete. Well, almost complete. I'm going to get a smaller front grip and a new rear grip but after that I'll look forward to wasting some ammo. I'll give my impressions of the Bumpski stock after I try it. Initial impressions are that it's extremely high quality (I would fucking hope so for the price) and adds a little weight to the gun since it's solid aluminum. But not big deal.

So what should I get next? aka my Christmas present to myself :)

I'm thinking of a few things
Springfield M1A National Match or Loaded
Scar 17s (Dat price tag)
Sig Sauer 716

Actually went with the SCAR 17s. Should be here Monday but my store isn't open until Tuesday. Hopefully my ammo gets here before then.

I have an M1a Loaded in black. Easily my favorite firearm in my collection. Whenever I take people out to the range, they always want to throw lead down range with that one. Its a very meaty weapon.

Also, you prob already know, but one of those are not like the other. The M1a is more of a classic battle rifle. Its big, heavy, but its accurate as hell(theres a reason why the MK14 is still a widely used DM rifle). The other two at base are ARs and I'm sure are smaller and lightweight.

I'll eventually get the M1a just not now. Wanted the SCAR more.

Shot the SCAR some more today at a friends range which is much longer than mine. The irons are dead on accurate at 200 yards.

I also purchased the Vortex Razor HD Gen II with Vortex quick release mount. Dead on accurate as well. Flunking love this gun. Its easier to breakdown than my AR and Tavor.

Sup, AK buddies? I have a fair number of guns and enjoy them quite a lot. It's cool to see like-minded people here. Guess I'll try to skim through this giant thread now!

So after a few months with my Glock 20 Gen 4 I not in love with it like my other weapons. I don't like the sights. I'm leaning heavily towards selling it and getting this

What are good sight replacements for Glocks? I need to research that before I truly decide.
God I can't find this thing for shit.

I'm pretty satisfied with my Ameriglo "Hackathorn" sights.

The front sight has a bright orange dot with a tritium insert in the middle. It makes for a super fast sight picture. If you want, you can get a similar rear sight that has tritium inserts for slightly easier low light shooting. Low light shooting is still doable with only a front insert, though. If you raise the pistol to eye level and aim the single dot, you will be very, very close.

yeah I'm aware of that seller. I contacted them weeks ago after their auction wasn't successful for like the 5th time. They won't budge on $1200. F that. I'm waiting for grabagun.
Yeah, fair call, the price is pretty insane.
It's great. I use a crossbreed super tuck for my holster.

You don't find it too wide at all? Not an issue at the moment living in a country with no guns, but when I move back to the US it is on the short list, I am just worried a bit by the width of it.

Yeah, that's a shit price for that gun. Not saying they aren't good guns... but $1200? Shhheeeit.

holy cow that is some recoil
I always enjoyed the videos of the guy from Accurate Reloading who created a "range" in his basement (really just a hole in a bunker) under the goddamn desert and then dared all his friends to come over and shoot the craziest loads he could come up with. Wheeliebop at :26 is my all time favorite.

It's an elephant gun. Its rugged enough to take the loads being used, though i coukd see the sights getting dinged after its dropped repeatedly. The shooters are getting the greatest wear and tear in those videos.

No, the only issue I have at all is if I bend over with a less than loose shirt the grip will poke a bit causing a bit of imprinting. But it's really negligible.

Cool, cheers for that.

For reference, one of my carry options is a 229, and they're just about the same width as the 239s, and I don't have issues with that aspect of it when I carry.

I'll contribute. Here is my newest firearm. I got rid of my Springfield XD to get this.

This is by far my the favorite of the 3 that I own. Nothing feels quite as good as this.

I like 1911s. I have a custom kimber I posted in here. But I hate stripping and cleaning them. It's mostly a display gun now.
