I was a History major with an Art minor (talk about a useless combination :lol ). I was going to go on to law school since that what seemed to make sense. Took the LSAT (and did well) and everything.
Fast forward three years and I have a Masters degree in special effects animation and working freelance. Funny how things end up working out.
So, basically, unless you know EXACTLY what you want to do down the road and know EXACTLY what major to take for that, don't sweat whether it's useful or not. If you like history and find it to be an interesting subject, take it. That's why I did.
If you just keep following things that interest you, somewhere along the way you'll find somethng that works (or at least sets you on a path to something that works). Trying to shoehorn yourself into some position to fit what you think a job needs even if it's not something you enjoy is just flat out counterintuitive and would lead to a career you don't enjoy.
