Anyone else bummed by the drought this year?

I go back and play old games in between big releases. I'm not feeling it, wolfenstein and watch dogs are pretty close too.
 
I have like 3 to 5 Vita games to buy next month, depending on if Soul Sacrifice Delta gets a retail release.

People forget to mention SOE games. Planetside 2 is a damn fine game and will be free online outside the paywall this year.
 
Nope. FFXHD, Dark Souls 2, LoS 2, Wolfenstein, Infamous, and always good to hit the backlog and try out a smaller steam bundle game.
 
I like it. Past few years, there was always too much I wanted to play or buy. Right now, I don't really have that issue, and I also have time to catch up on my backlog.
 
Wii U, Vita and 3DS are keeping me above it right now. If you owned only PS4 and Xbone, yeah there's not a lot coming, especially if you like Japanese games predominantly. Watch Dogs looks interesting, so I may get that for my PS4, but I really don't have any interest in anything else announced for this year for the Big Black Box-Twins.
 
Drought?

Theres been plenty released in the last 6 weeks, theres a bit of a gap until Wolfenstein and Watch_Dogs but even then digital titles, some more games in June/July (Sniper Elite, Soul Suspect)... I dont see a drought myself, if anything im drowning in too many games to play.

I expect at the very least Sony will announced a few games for the end of the year and I imagine MS/Nintendo and third parties still have stuff to show off too
 
I'm still waiting to see if anyone will comment on how realistic it is to expect first party PS4 titles to be announced at E3 for release THIS YEAR.

Lots of third party stuff to go around for be personally but it would be great if Sony could keep up with the competition.

There's no drought. There's too much coming out that I want to buy. Kirby Triple Deluxe, Watch Dogs, Murdered: Soul Suspect, TLOU Remastered, Smash Bros 3DS, Destiny, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, The Order 1886, and Assassin's Creed Unity, all before the end of the year. And that's all off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more I'm excited for that I'm forgetting
 
Drought?

In just a month, both Wolfenstein and Transistor are coming out, followed later this year by games such as Hotline Miami 2, Dreamfall Chapters, the second half of Broken Age, and more, not to mention the imminent release of Dark Souls 2 (PC). And in between all these games are more updates for Counter-Strike: GO.

So, no, can't say I'm feeling any drought this year.

And that's what I feel like I've been seeing, and yeah it kinda sucks adjusting to the new landscape. Seems like so many studios and projects were shuttered/canned in the past few years, and maybe it seems like it's happening more often now because that kind of info is spread around a lot more due to social media. Part of the problem is I'm primarily a PC gamer so yeah of course I'm seeing things through a smaller lens, but it's frustrating nonetheless knowing things like Crytek is shifting their model of development primarily to f2p, and the days of another title in the vein of Stalker being developed for PC first and foremost are pretty much over. I'm not opposed to console, just not ready to buy in yet for a new system until there's more out there.

I'm most excited about the kinds of games indies will come up with for the Oculus Rift, and absolutely love taking advantage of early access stuff, but most of the more ambitious projects like The Gallery: Six Elements are quite a ways off from release. As the year goes on I'm sure I'll be less angsty gamer and more optimistic, but man mah PC needs some multiplat love right now.

Edit: That said I am very excited for Divinity: Original Sin, something I had forgotten about until just now. Some Baldur's Gate style goodness will definitely tide me over :)
 
The only people complaining about a drought are people who don't buy any digital-only games, and even then it's a hard argument to make.
 
I think Watch Dogs, Mario Kart 8 and Wolfenstein are coming out in about a week next month, I don't see a problem.
 
After the Wii U drought last year, this has been easy. Still not many Wii U games this half of the year but the few PS4/XB1 titles have given me something to do.
 
On PS4 alone I don't have enough time to play everything I want, let alone including my last gen backlog. Hell I haven't even dug into Merc Kings or Outlast yet. Drought?
 
There have been too many games in March/April for me to keep up with, and it's continuing soon with DS2 PC, Child of Light, Mario Golf, WatchunderscoreDogs, Wolf...
 
I really don't look forward to AAA games anymore, but I am swimming in releases on PC, let alone other platforms.

We have Dark Souls II, Child of Light, H1Z1, Transistor, The Forest, Wolfenstein, and plenty more coming in the next month.

Not to mention all the time I've been sinking into the recently released RE4 and Banished.
 
This is when you laugh at those who criticize previous console generations. This is also the time you realize that selling your older console was a dumb idea.

Who raced through 1,119 Xbox 360 games, 795 PS3 games, and 1,222 Wii games? It feels like some people really have no patience or they only care about graphics (not about gaming in general).

I'm a little bummed to see so many complaints. Every console cycle is like this. Last gen just kept piling on title after title. It got a head of itself.
 
I am looking to invest in a WiiU and between my backlog on Steam, PS3, and 3DS all I can say is "What drought?"
 
Would be nice to have more but having a PS4, PS3, and a vita I have tons of stuff to play. It's actually nice because it gives me a chance to play a bunch of stuff I missed.

I have a 360 too but that just collects dust. If I somehow run out of stuff I'll go back to random Xbox exclusives
 
My backog spans PS3, Vita, WiiU, PS4, 3DS and even the DS. I've literally got a mountain of games to get through so droughts really have no effect on me. Hell, my backlog is so big, I'd even welcome an industry crash right now, lol.
 
Echoing others: if you think there is a drought you must only play the newest games....and if you miss one you must never go back. It's impossible in my mind for there ever to be a real drought. I played 64 games last year and 42 so far this year and I will never run out of games to play either backlog or new.
 
Don't got a drought here.

Playing Etrian Odyssey III which, at the rate I'm going, will take 2-3 weeks to finish, Titanfall is nice for killing time.

When I finish EOIII, I'll have Demon Gaze waiting for me and I suspect that will take me a couple weeks to finish as well. Then I can go ahead and tackle more stages for Yumi's Odd Odyssey, probably try and finish Advance Wars and buy Golden Sun too.

I have enough new games to make me happy, but I also play a lot of multiplayer games and older games. I guess if you play only new games you might be feeling the drought.
 
I don't see a drought but I own every console including handhelds.
Nothing wrong with droughts either, good time to find older games or simply take care of backlog.

It's the same thing every year. E3 will hit and then ppl complain about too many games in Nov or whatever
 
Not really, I still need to pick up W101, DK:TF, Ace Attorney 4 and Zelda: ALBW.
Future games I'm looking at are Child of Light, Smash 4, & MK8.
Also I'm getting my PS3 back this year, so I'll play some games I missed out on there.

Exactly. I didn't realize there was a drought going on. Not only are there too many games i need to play, there are too many games that recently came out that I want.
 
Truthfully, I ignored games for a few years altogether because of college. It feels like there are so many appealing games from recent times that I will never have the cash to purchase ones I'm interested in, or the time to play my fill of the ones l've already bought. If I didn't browse gaf I never would have realized a drought of new releases was happening.

I beat games relatively slowly, though, and have pretty diverse tastes. It's always been like this. Even on the gamecube, I never ran out of things to play, not even close.
 
My 360/PS3/Wii backlog is insane, so not really. I dont have enough time as it is. If not for Titanfall I'd be destroying my backlog but Im addicted as hell to that one game so I just try to split my time 50/50 between it and everything else.
 
What drought? Diablo 3 RoS is keeping me company next up Wildstar after that Civ Beyond Earth. No sir enough to do (and having a huge backlog i never can complete..ever).
