Lots of violence, blood, scary atmosphere, disturbing OST (some music can be nice, like vocals in Silent Hill), hellish monsters, zombies...

Should try Silent Hill 2 if you haven't.I really like Horror games but to be honest not even one of them ever scared me (outside of typical jump scares). I like gameplay, atmosphere, puzzle solving etc.
Same story with horror movies, I really like them but rarely they work on me. But "Haunting of the Hill House" is something else - this shit was intense (watching alone in the middle of the night).

yeah VR horror is scary, I cant do it.Doom 3 on PSVR is the scariest game I'ever played. Absolutely brutal!![]()

I love horror movies, but when it comes to games it's often too much for me. It's too immersive. But SOMA was a great experience and I recommend it to people who don't normally enjoy horror games.Lots of violence, blood, scary atmosphere, disturbing OST (some music can be nice, like vocals in Silent Hill), hellish monsters, zombies...

I really loved Resident Evil until Capcom changed the Perspective to 1st Person.
Never played clock tower but that cover art was always creepy! The scissors are burned into my mind for some reason.Horror is my favourite genre! From the Spencer Mansion's zombie-filled halls to being stalked by a Xenomorph on Sevastopol, there are so many amazing experiences to be had in the genre. I didn't experience horror games until I got my PS1. I had a Sega Megadrive previously, but never played anything close to horror on it. Resident Evil 1 was my first foray into the world of horror, survival horror to be exact, and I was in love the moment the live-action intro played out. I had seen nothing like it before. I loved the setting, characters, story, gameplay, and atmosphere. I go back and play it often. I was playing the director's cut yesterday - just about to enter the caves with Jill. After experiencing Resident Evil, I jumped into the first Silent Hill. Got stuck as a kid, could never figure out the piano puzzle. Went back and beat it in 2023, which was a great feeling. There used to be a store in town, roughly a mile from my house, that used to sell 'chipped games'. I remember going in and buying Clock Tower. The scissorman scared me so much that I didn't play for more than an hour. The PS1 had some memorable titles: Nightmare Creatures, Koudelka, Parasite Eve 1 and 2, Overblood, Shadow Tower, Dino Crisis, Gallerians, and more.
Despite loving horror, I'm not a huge fan of gore. I prefer a scary atmosphere to rivers of blood. I also prefer my horror games to have combat, not one of these modern run-and-hide games.
