I thought standing still is the only way to evaluate games no (see PSSR reviews) hihino... I value gameplay you know.
and your "image quality" is gone anyway the moment anything moves due to the poor temporal resolution and motion blur. so what's the point? you can ever even notice the increased resolution when standing completely still
I was holding out on BMW for the same reason .. but decided to pull the plug now that is on a rare sale on psn and the only compromise I can really notice is slightly inferior lighting, it runs butter smooth (until now) at 60 fps and I wouldn't change this for slightly better light effects. No and I'll never go back. I can handle 40fps in most cases (still occasionally looks crap like HFW but it's usually ok), but 30fps is always ugly as sin.
If a game has an exceptionally compromised performance mode, like Black Myth Wukong, then I just won't buy it.
Finally, it's just not been my experience with the Pro that many performance modes are bad. I've found them to be almost exclusively huge upgrade from the base console. Digital Foundry talk absolute nonsense about them imo.
When i was a kid, i saw someone saying something really odd and i asked my mom how it's possible for someone to say this. She told me, there are billions of people on this planet, anything crazy you can thing of, someone will do it.Me.
30fps is vastly superior to higher framerates.

And since you like 40 fps, the balanced 40 fps mode on this game seems really well regarded, but its not my cup of tea and I'll stay with the perfomance mode though.
Yes they dropped lumen, but as always the choice for perfomance mode is for the fluidity of the game and not still shots, and in movement is definitely the best choice imho.Does the Pro have the same performance mode where they drop lumen? I remember seeing some screens of it and it just looked terrible.
I think a huge amount of the problem with 60fps modes this gen has just been terrible choices by devs. People have demonstrated that BMW could've run at 1080p60 on the base console just fine. Which is soft but totally ok at normal viewing distances. FFS just offer that as the base mode. But no we have to put up with these terrible upscalers that look ok in static scenes but awful in any kind of motion. At least that shit will be gone forever next gen.
ThisNo. I'd rather punch myself in the dick. But I don't have to since PC is my platform of choice.
I mean, i am playing PS1 and PS2 games right, so yeah
It happens at 60 too. It's extremely noticeable in 2D side scrolling games and fast paced action games. 120+ is optimal. 90 is a decent compromise.Due to OLED causing a choppy, stuttery, or like a "slideshow" playback experience at 30fps, 40fps is the bare minimum I can play at. I prefer 60fps though.
utter nonsense 60 fps on oled is smoother than on other display technologies. It happens at 60 too. It's extremely noticeable in 2D side scrolling games and fast paced action games. 120+ is optimal. 90 is a decent compromise.
You have no clue what you are talking about.utter nonsense 60 fps on oled is smoother than on other display technologies.
is 30 fps worse on oled? yes it is but this comes in as handy at higher refreshrates and fps. Oled is just too fast for only 30 fps.
Sure i will grab a crt from my narnia closet 30 years agoYou have no clue what you are talking about.
Try to play a sidescrolling game on a CRT that supports 60hz. Try the same on an OLED at 60hz.
Report back your findings.
Personally it's only affected me at 30fps.It happens at 60 too. It's extremely noticeable in 2D side scrolling games and fast paced action games. 120+ is optimal. 90 is a decent compromise.
Pretty much, i wanted to play Black Myth Wukong at 60 fps, but it looked like vomit on ps5 pro so i played through it with 30 fps.I think a lot of people would agree that one of the best things about this gen is a 60fps option for almost every game. At the front end of the gen it was great because cross gen games, often even with PS5/SX upgrades would look great at 60fps at an often 1440p internal res or above with good IQ. (The Witcher 3, CP:2077, etc) And of course, a lot of current gen games have good IQ at 60fps (Indiana Jones, Ghost of Yotei, Decima Engine games, etc)
But now in almost every current gen only game, I find myself more disappointed and distracted by the poor IQ of 60fps modes (artifacting, super low internal res, poor upscaling, aweful shadow quality, etc.) than dropping the framerate to 30fps, even on an OLED. I think prime examples are Avatar, SW: Outlaws, AC: Shadows, Doom: TDA, Alan Wake 2, Jedi Survivor, Space Marine 2, and Spiderman 2.
My basic point: even the Pro isn't powerful enough to run ambitious current gen games at 60fps with good IQ. I wouldn't say the Pro is super outdated already, but it's gonna get rough if the PS6 is delayed past 2027. It feels weird to go back to 30fps, but I'd say I prefer it now to the often poor IQ of performance modes. Anyone else feel the same?
(P.S-Yes I'd love to go PC, but the prices in the country I live in are prohibitively expensive)
Dude you need to get on that 24 cinematic FPS level to fully immerse into a game.Me.
30fps is vastly superior to higher framerates.
