Anyone ever been ghosted in a long term relationship before?

Now that I've thought about the OP a bit more, I wonder if his (ex-)girlfriend has gone missing? What if she's been abducted?

I have it on good authority that she is fine, but that's it. Still in the dark as to the "why" which I don't think I'll ever get an answer to.

You need to confront her or expose her to your mutual friends and on social media. What she did was grossly immoral.

I ghosted a girl I was seeing for about 6 months. Everything was great and she was acting like the one and than I caught her acting up. Started hearing rumors and shit.

I knew someone that knew her ex. He was still in love but she cheated on him a hundred times I found out.

NGL I was a little hurt by it all but have self respect. So I disappeared, just vanished and ignored calls and texts. I did however bang one of her distant friends because I knew she would hear about it.

At that point she came at me furious. I said "do you think im an idiot, I had people telling me what you was uo to and found out some things so were done. And Brie has some good pussy". I enjoyed tge few tears it brought out.

So yea I flipped it all and hurt her right back. Fuck u Casey.

Sounds rough. At least if you can be sure that she is doing alright then you are probably in the right assuming she wants to cut ties.
Pretty shitty of course, but some people can't deal with confrontation.
Hang in there OP.

Naw, it's mostly because she is one of those people that needs 8+ hours of sleep a night and I'm around 4 or 5. She likes it pitch dark, I like accent lights or xmas lights, she likes it silent or just a fan, I like a low radio. I'd also stay up during the week to read or watch a few sitcoms before bed or be playing video games on the weekend, talking on chat, and that didn't work with her sitting next to me. I think most couples would get along better if they each had their own room!
So, after sex do you go back to your own bedroom?

Whatever you do don't be a needy bitch over it. Better off without this type of person anyway.

YOU have to end it officially and succinctly. You gotta look yourself in the mirror.

Only THEN can you slash her tyres, and deface her automobile with "CHEATER" graffiti like a psychobitch :messenger_grinning_squinting:

This generation is messed up. There's no loyalty, no respect, no selflessness, and you all just accept it. Is this the kind of world that you want your children to partake in?

Of course not, but your solution is no solution. I’d prefer to keep my head held high and move on with integrity. The best revenge is living well.

She doesn't owe him shit.

I've been dumped because I cut my hair a certain way once.

Thats when I realized that the vast majority of people are actually insane. You don't go searching for answers in a nuthouse.

Yes, she does owe him an explanation; you are the one who is insane. If someone invests their time and emotions into someone else, then that someone else owes them a notification that they want to end the relationship and why. Ghosting someone can lead to depression and feelings of inadequacy; it's immoral.

Nah, I stand by what I wrote.

Never, ever get that invested in someone. The first one to fall in love loses.

So this recently happened to me and I'm completely dumbfounded. I've been seeing my current girlfriend, well I guess ex now, for a little over a year. Things were going pretty well, or at least I thought they were. The last time I saw her she stayed over my place and when she left everything seemed fine. I noticed over the next couple of days she was pretty distant. I asked her to hang out later in the week and she turned me down. At this point I kinda thought something was up.

We basically had one other small exchange over text after that and then there was 4 days of silence. I asked her what was going on and I'm met with more silence. It's now been 2 weeks of nothing, so I'm assuming the relationship is over.

If I'm being honest with myself and listen to what my gut is telling me then the only logical conclusion is that there is another guy. I have no idea when she would have met this guy, but it's the only outcome that makes sense to me. If that is the case she should have just been honest with me. This ghosting nonsense is a way worse feeling than just telling me she met someone else.

So, anyone else ever have this happen to them?

Dunno OP, women who cannot ghost successfully in any situation are called men in my book.
And I'm straight...

I'm a bit of a cynic myself; I understand that your past experiences have made you cold-hearted and protective of your emotions. However, if this is the case, then why do you still engage in relationships (assuming that you still do)? Why not just engage in casual hookups with no strings attached?

Happened to me in 2009. Thought all was going well until she ghosted me when trying to phone her. Was a bad break-up and tried to kill myself eventually, but my aim with a knife is useless lol. Especially after so many beers. Lost blood but not my life and I'm still here. I came back stronger and a few years later it put me in the best shape of my life.

Damn dude that's really rough. Glad you're doing better.

I never got to that point fortunately, just really bummed out. Also, I'm dreading going back into the dating pool. It's BRUTAL out there.

Dont pursue her.
Act like you don't give a shit.

If she ever contacts you tell her that you were thinking the exact same thing but didnt want to hurt her feelings, and you are happy with the end result.

Then act happy and unavailable.

Will drive her nuts.

Oh, and also send us all her nudes by PM. That will also make you feel better......

Considering how stressful relationships can be, do you think that single people are better off?

I guess it depends. For me? No. All my friends are married and have kids, so it's not like I get a lot of chances to get out there. If you have a social circle that meets frequently and has more free time then maybe the answer is yes. This past relationship was not stressful at all and we got along great until shit went down at the end.

I still don't regret it though. I had a lot of good times with that girl.

Looking back at your relationship with this particular girl, would you say that you truly had her or that she was always not truly yours?

it's tough to say. I guess you kind of always have the feeling that she could leave you whenever in the back of your mind, but you try not to show that outwardly.

Caesar cut but much shorter on top.

She was just very controlling. Didn't want me to buy clothes without her because I only buy ugly shit she used to say. I used to wake up and find out my clothes had been picked out for me whenever she stayed over.

One time she left a small kitchen knife on top of them after I refused to wear the ones she picked out for me.

I know a lot of people have said to wash your hands of her.
But personally I would want an answer from her if it was going so well up to that point. At least for a bit of closure.
Maybe it's just me but that would bug the shit out of me.

I'd get it if you were only together for a month or two but after a year!?
Wtf bitch?

I believe the only time ghosting is acceptable is when that person feels that their life is in danger. Physical and/or mental abuse.

What should he have done, chopped her finger off to make her feel his pain? 😂

Does that count as getting "amber hearded"?

She will just use his "behaviour of not giving a shit about it" as prove that he never really loved her and that it was good to move on. xD

Thats her excuse for him being that asshole and not she being a bitch.

I know how woman work.

Of course he wants answers, but that’s what being ghosted means, they refuse to give you answers. If answers are out of his control, take control of them by no longer wanting them, sure it sucks, but not as bad as waiting for answers that will never. Come.

In case anyone was curious I finally ended up finding out what happened and my initial gut reaction was correct. There was another guy. Still never heard from her though which is shitty.

I'm now wondering how long this was going on behind my back. Little things that seemed weird to me a while ago seem to make a little more sense put in the current context. Thank god gyms open next week and I can put my focus elsewhere.

If you're being serious... This ain't it chief.

Just supposed to slink away like a beaten dog then, huh?

Don't demand an explanation, just fire off a message letting her know you're disappointed that she chose to handle things this way.

I ghosted a female friend I had. We weren't romantic but I was into her. She hung out with most of her ex boyfriends and would date a new guy like once a month. Over time I really started to disapprove, it seemed like she was playing Pokémon but with men. Each dude had a special skill (mechanic, electronics expert, etc.) and she would hang out with them for a few days and have sex with them, basically give them a girlfriend experience when she needed their skills and then only occasionally talk to or hang out with them. She didn't explain it to me this way, I pieced together what she was doing based on our conversations.

It basically came down to i didn't approve of her lifestyle, and didn't want to tell her that I thought she was a slut, and that I disapprove and don't want to be friends with someone like that. I don't want to be friends with people that live dysfunctional lifestyles because I believe it will have a negative effect on me.

If it's any help I saw "long term relationship" and assumed it would be like 5 years at the very, very, least.

Your situation sucks but honestly most people have been there or something similar at one time or another.
Sometimes the relationship breaks down and it's difficult to deal with.

While I would 100% say you should just move on and leave it in the past I wouldn't be super harsh on her either or hold a grudge or anything like that.
Especially if you are both still young.

You'll get back to the gym and before you know it this corona shit will have blown over and you'll be back out there, no problem.

I didn't even need to get to the end of the post to know the reason was "Found new dick".

Now, be very very careful. She could well be finding out if new dick is interested in her or not. I'd assume after two weeks he must be, BUT if she comes back with a novella of reasons why she didn't talk to you for two weeks then it will be bullshit. She got some strange, it didn't work out and she wants to come back to the comfort zone.

Send her a text, tell her it's over and collect anything of hers that she has together and tell her to pick it up by the end of the week or it's getting thrown in the bin.

Take control, take it on the chin and move on thankfully that it's only a year of a relationship and not longer before she pulled this on you.

Every. Time.
