Every two months or so a local theater has 'mondo movie night'. They play a cult classic horror movie, and have contests and stuff with prizes.

Next month there's a big Halloween bash going on. It's an all-day movie fest. Here's more info:

This theater is about 2.5 hours from both NYC and Philly. It's definitely worth checking out,; these shows are a blast!

[edit]
www.spookydudes.com is going to have more info in two weeks or so. I scanned this from the handout we got, and I compressed it a real lot, so don't mind the shittyness of it.

Is this a yearly thing? If so, what's the after-party like? Will it be worth sitting through the decidedly non-scary and overrated Suspiria?

This is the first year they're doing it, so I couldn't tell you about the after party.

The events are always awesome fun, though. Trust me.

The movies they've shown so far are Bloodfeast, Zombie, and Evil Dead 2. They're doing this all day thing on the 23rd, and the week after that they're trying to get ahold of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The guy who runs the whole thing said they're still getting stuff together for the 23rd. He mentioned another movie ot two that weren't on the ad, but I can't remember which movies they were off the top of my head.

I'm probably in the minority, but Suspiria did absolutely nothing for me. I mean, yeah, the ending was pretty cool, but outside of that I was pretty bored.

Scranton, PA. Home of PRISON JAZZ records.

Sounds like a good time, though. Scranton is about four hours away though.

All this Suspiria hate in a thread for people who love horror movies... lame! Beautiful movie, Argento rocks city blocks.

Ah well, best thing I've been able to track down for a local movie night is a Rocky Horror showing on the 30th.

"All?" It's just me, dude, and I don't really classify it as hate. Argento can make a very nice looking movie, but they're not really scary (anymore, if you want me to qualify it). His films don't age well, it happens to the best of 'em.

This sounds cool, but I'll be at the Mighty Mini-Con/SpookyCon in Syracuse that day. Unfortunately.

Well then come on over! What the heck else could be going on in the middleof the state that day that's so important?

Awesome. I just watched Suspiria earlier today. I have the Limited Edition 3-disc set. Beautiful use of color. Scary it is not, though. Which is quite alright; I don't really like "scary" horror movies anyway, since they usually just use cheap tricks to try and shock the viewer. Suspiria was more of a creepy mystery, with excellent imagery, and a few shocking moments. A semi-hallucination of a movie. The room filled with barbed wire? Now that is some twisted shit.

Last reminder for anyone interested.

The show is tomorrow from about noon until about 10:30.

I'll be there in a red Nintendo hoodie, or a Mario + Mushroom = Super Mario shirt.

If you spot me, say come over and say hi.
