31 Days of Horror: The Ravenous |OT| The October Movie Marathon

I've been slacking for the past two days. My #6 was Dead Heat. It was 80s cheesy in the best way. I actually really liked the concept; it was pretty surprising to read later that this movie bombed when it was originally releaed. I don't recall much of Treat Williams, but I liked Joe Piscopo and Vincent Price as a kid, so I don't know how I missed this one. I'm currently watching Color Out of Space and hoping to catch up on my queue.

7. It Waits (Amazon Prime)

***/*****

Low budget flick about people accidentally unleashing some ancient demon buried in a cave system. The film follows a large-breasted woman who works one of those park ranger stations who's dealing with the guilt of a dead friend by trying to drown her sorrows with alcohol. Everything is kind of middling, like the action isn't good enough to enjoy or bad enough to laugh at, the practicals are fine but the CGI is horrendous and the music is cheesy as fuck especially the stuff with vocals. I still had fun, I dug the premise and there's some fun grisly stuff, don't expect much, though.

8. Dark Knight of the Scarecrow (Amazon Prime)

**/*****

Made-for-TV horror movie that feels made-for-TV. It's got some decent actors and the story is fine but don't expect it to quench your thirst for blood.
Dark Night of the Scarecrow was one I always thought was cute. The phrase "Bubba didn't do it" sticks in my mind. I grew up in a small grain farm town like the one in the film so seeing the guy die by getting buried in a grain bin was something that actually happened on the farms near me. Very terrible way to die. If you ever feel like picking up the DVD, they have some good interviews with the two main cast members (the little girl now a woman and the guy who played Bubba).

Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1992)

This sequel was...different. They basically dialed down the horror and upped the comedy with very uneven results. It even goes so far as to use cartoon sound effects, bad mickey mousing and breaks the 4th wall at least once. They try and take the comedy really over the top but most of it comes off as stupid. And speaking of stupid, this is one of those movies where the cast are idiots and make stupid decisions to keep the scenes going. Despite the "Lost in Time" subtitle they're really just dimension hopping, generally appearing in fiction or movie analogues (Points for random Bruce Campbell though). The first half is a bit more interesting due to the variety while the second half is almost entirely in this lame medieval time - ultimately leading to an end sequence reminiscent of Shocker. There is still some gore but it's spread out and mostly used for comedy. The movie isn't entirely without merit but it's still weak and somewhat tedious. Stick with the first flick.

Glad I didn't miss anything. Sounds like most B-movies sequels...they got worse and pushed the semi-fiction C-list.

You mentioned Shocker so, I feel it approriate to recommend to those in this thread a list of some great Wes Craven movies to possibly add to their lists:

1. The Last House on the Left (1972)
This is Wes Craven's first Directed / Written film. It may be a bit extreme for some as it has some strong elements of assault which are a bit more disturbing than things featured in his later films. There is a cut and uncut version of this movie..

2. The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
This original version of the Hills Have Eyes makes Hollywood's remake look like trash. Truly epic introduction into how well he could grab the audience in fear. If you liked the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre by Tobe Hooper, you'll love this one from Wes Craven.

3. Deadly Blessing (1981)
Very interesting turn in events as a group of girls and newly wed (or engaged) couple moves to a farmhouse next to a bunch of superstitious Amish. The Amish believe one of the women to be a succubus and everything escalates between the two farms from there. This also features the great actor Michael Berryman from the Hills Have Eyes.

4. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Not much explanation needed except that this one and movie 2 were the only two I think most will enjoy. The myriad of sequels that followed were never quite as scary as the first two.

5. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)
Another popular movie of his that most have already seen but may want to add to their lists if you haven't seen it in awhile.

6. Shocker (1989)
A serial killer Pinker is sentenced to death by the electric chair. However, the man's evil spirit survives through the electricity. Pinker goes on a random vengeance and slaughter spree through nearly anything electrical that gives him power. Fun to watch and has some Nightmare on Elm Street type dark humour in it, too.

7. The People Under the Stairs (1991)
A bolted up manor-style house by a rich couple holds a dark secret. Burglars try to break into the house as it appears to be a good target for treasure. They never return and a young boy "Fool" ventures out after them and becomes trapped in the house himself. What are the creatures under the stairs? Who are the true monsters? How do you escape this sadist house? Watch it and find out. This movie was commonly sold as a double-feature with Shocker.

There are plenty more appreciated Craven films from before and after 1991 but these were my personal recommendations. He also directed a couple creepy TV movies (such as 'Chiller') and TV shows which are lesser-known and had cameo'd in a few of his features, too. Sadly, Wes Craven passed away in Fall of 2015 but his legacy of cinematography lives on!

Kevin Sorbo goes on a date and OMG Hercules what are you doing to that poor woman!? The whole thing is an over the top ridiculous black comedy. Starts off pretty weak and unusually gets better over time. It's not that funny overall but I was laughing. Halfway through I was on board with it. It risks being repetitive but is also a short film. A very trashy sicko comedy horror.

What a fever dream. Between this and the halloween remakes Rob Zombie is too out there for me I think. The crazy camera and the OTT acting and the metal riffs are just too much to keep up with as it rapidly changes tones. It seems to go serious to campy and back again with no warning. A below average slasher that gives one a headache

The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020)

if you havent seen the first one go watch it, it's quite worth the watch. In this one the MC deals with the psychological trauma from the events in one and has to deal with his parents not believeing him

Killer Queen is pretty straight forward, another coming of age movie but it has a horror flavoring added to it. It was enjoyable, if you've seen the first one lately try to avoid promotional stuff as they ruin a fun surprise. The first one was better but it was still worth the watch.

We Summon The Darkness (2019)

There are reports of Heavy Metal fans getting killed all over the country. the movie follows 3 cute girls going to a metal concert

I'm gonna dance around the subject but I think the implication of a character in the killings was not really a surprise and has got me wondering if people are supposed to be surprised.

overall I was enjoying watching the movie, but it felt lacking a little.

I was surprised by the solid pace of it, the plot is a little straight forward but appreciated, It is not a great movie but a fun one and worth a watch. I liked watching those little bastards run around, and the inevitable big un

Gate 2: Trespassers (1990)

As already told by space runaway, wishes turn to shit... literally and somehow was still surprised by it.
It felt very much like a teenage kind of coming of age rom-com but without the actual jokes, funny bits, but the love interest was actually fine and was just about the only fine part, except the little dudes that are back, i enjoyed them.

society-movie-poster.jpg

Society (1989) or 1992 for some reason ?

Teenage man struggling to fit in the society seem to have psychological issues.

There is something to this one that tickled me fancy, from the setting which is simply Beverly hills and a classicist view of a teen who doesnt fit or want to fit in his family and society. I wouldn't call it weird as much as it is effective at being creepy without blowing it's load too early. talking about blowing a load, that scene at the end got me slightly aroused and I don't know how to feel about it. The movie is great at betraying the trust you might have with some characters or falsely betraying it.

If y'all have this on your list or readily available to watch, i urge you to take a look at it. it is a very good and entertaining watch. - available on shudder.

Funhouse Massacre (2015)

>Title Is self Explanatory, psychopaths killing people in a funhouse.

Bunch of fun and imaginative kills but sadly i really didnt enjoy the main girl killer, she felt a little too... excited. She gets one of the better kills tho. the plot was inexistant but I was fine with it. glad to see the guy dressed in dr. who get his shit rocked, he was bothering me and pussied out at every possible moment. With that said, it was still an enjoyable movie.

The Toxic Avenger (1984) - Your Friendly neighboorhood mutant

Awkward kid gets a sudden, radioactive waste induced, growth spurt, making him a fine and respectable young man. fighting the rampant evil of douchebags and realistically portrayed criminals.

First watch of a classic I had yet to get around to, made me laugh a bunch by it's over the top... everything! it has a bunch of on point visual gags and amazing quotable dialogue as : "Only 12 years old, and only 12 Dollars" this was not said about whiskey. I never thought I would enjoy something that was willingly "bad". but it turns out it feels more like a good movie making fun of bad ones, if that makes sense. - HIghly recommend it.

Have a good watch guys, Might watch a bunch of the new haunting episodes or something. I'm going to be watching more on monday through friday at work.

#12 Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987)

Oh my fucking god. The recap for the previous film is huge. It's the old killers brother narrating footage and just when I think they will skip a bit of recap, no, they cover everything in drawn out detail. It's insane. The film doesn't really start until about 40 mins in, out of an 85 min movie. Someone must have done an edit of this opening to make it watchable. Imagine doing this as a double bill, lol. Finally we get to the recap of the brothers backstory and there's a scene in a cinema and they're watching the god damn first film! Holy shit this film was clearly never meant to be any good. It's a parody at best. The main saving grace is we are treated to a masterclass of bad acting from the lead, the brother, who looks and sounds a lot like the criminal character Snake from the Simpsons. With a load of extreme eyebrow acting. A lot of the kills and the awful and weird acting are hilarious. But what a messed up movie.

#13 Saint / Sint (2010)

Moving on from a killer Santa to THE killer Santa. December 5th is apparently a big deal in Amsterdam for present giving. And when there is a full moon the real Saint Nicholas, who was an evil rogue bishop, comes back from the grave, riding a horse, and goes on a killing spree with his pirate minions. Dick Maas does it again - I had fun watching Amsterdamned and Der Lift. This is another enjoyably cheesy horror flick. Nothing special but it's short and a laugh.

I enjoyed it. Its story is a little loose, but the kills were creative. Freddy really hams it up with some of his lines

9. CAM

This was is super uniqueand a bit of an odd plot. My wife actually woke up midway and thought i was watching porn because its a story about camgirls...

Anyways, i thought it was actually kinda decent. Not too horror’y’ just creepy if you were in the MCs shoes. Gave me some anxiety. The payoff/reveal wasnt super cool or revealing which was annoying, but the MC does have a good trick up her sleeve. I didnt like how it ended though.

#14 Amityville: It’s About Time (1992)

This was ten times better than Amityville 5. Don't get me wrong, it's not scary or a great movie but it's a lot of fun and well paced, with lots of silly crazy stuff going on. This time an evil clock does sinister things to it's new owners. The characters are hammy and it's rough round the edges, saw the boom mic a lot of times, but it's just the sort of old school horror I like. Don't take it seriously and it's entertaining.

A classic slasher that takes a fun setting and a little different motivation to make itself unique. It definitely holds up and it makes for a fun time while every actor gives it their all. It feels like a classier entry in the Friday the 13th franchise.

MBV is a terrific little picture, watched it many times over the years and always entertains me right through to the end.

To be honest I feel like its actually closer to a throwback to 70's giallo movie than a post Friday the 13th slasher. There is an actual story here not just a series of set-piece kills! It just happens to do those really well and memorably too.

I saw this first on a double-bill with Tobe Hooper's The Funhouse in 1981... damn! Was that a good time at the movies.

I wish I could say The Funhouse has aged as gracefully as MBV, or maybe its just one of those movies that works better in a theater. Its a widescreen picture, and I think the last time I saw it was an ugly pan-and-scan job... so no surprise that I found it less visually striking than I remembered/expected. Defo worth a look though.

#15 Evil Dead Trap 2 (1992)

I wanted to like this more. It's got a bit of an artsy style to it. The story is okay, evil spirit and serial murders, and it has its moments - some weird ones and some gross ones. But it takes its time and I didn't get that into it, so it ended up being a little dull. Memorable but meh.

Well this just barely qualifies as horror as it's a Sherlock Holmes story but it involves a "monster" of sorts and has Cushing and Lee in a Fisher directed Hammer film so I'm counting it!

That being said that famous trio and Marla Landi were all excellent! Lee as a non-monster is a breath of fresh air and he plays off Cushing well who is a fantastic Sherlock Holmes, balancing the pompous and proper nature of the character masterfully. The score, sets, and effects all achieve that staple of Hammer horror that I appreciate more and more with each of their films. Terence Fisher knew how to set the mood and lure you into a sense of dread and creepiness incredibly well and he made these films with such frequency that I'm shocked him and the actors seem to maintain their drive so well. I can't wait to explore more of this studios treasures!

October 2nd: Kidan: Piece of Darkness
Amazon Prime

Despite stumbling with some awful visual effects in the opening this one turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It's still cheap in terms of production value and the framing device is a bit weak but otherwise this is a very well-made little J-horror anthology. It's paced a bit fast since it packs so many stories in but most of them do a great job of building real atmosphere and tension with moments of shock and intensity when you least expect it. Far, far better than Spirit Behind the Door was.

October 3rd: The Complex
Amazon Prime

A movie from the director of Ringu that gets pretty heavy and touches on some real emotional, internal horror for the middle portion of the film before running into the same old cliches to end things. It's not awful by any stretch but it's in this odd middle ground where it isn't quite a mainstream popcorn flick but also not good enough to be a real piece of horror art either.

October 4th: The Bridge Curse
Netflix

A mostly solid ghost girl horror flick from Taiwan with a pretty telegraphed twist that doesn't really result in a satisfying payoff. That said, the ghost chick in this is out to make a name for herself. She's pulling out every trick in the book and just going in hard. I don't think she'll be the next Sadako or Kayako but she was absolutely going for it more than those two have in quite sometime.

October 5th: Ghosthouse
Amazon Prime

At first I thought this was some little American TV movie but then it just erupts in some crazy violence out of nowhere. Turns out it is La Casa 3 from Umberto Lenzi. This is just pure Italian cheese. Hilarious dialogue, an iffy plot, and an amazing score make this far more entertaining than one would expect especially during the somewhat bloodless middle portion of the movie. What really makes it work is the fact that one of the characters really think or act like human beings. It's just continually hilarious watching them react in the most ridiculous fashion to everything.

October 6th: City of the Living Dead
Amazon Prime

More Italian goodness from Fulci and man I wish they had done this in 4K instead of The House by the Cemetary. There is fantastic gore work in this and some neat situations and visuals especially near the end of the film. Damn good fun this one was.

October 7th: Drag Me to Hell
Vudu

Probably my second favorite Raimi film after Army of Darkness. You get Raimi engaging in his usual schtick with a budget without him having to force it into an existing property and it just works. Could have used some less CG in places but still pretty entertaining with a pretty strong performance from the lead actress.

October 8th: Dracula
Vudu

I had planned on waiting until I could finally get my hands on the big blu-ray set but that probably won't happen for sometime so what the hell. I haven't watched the Universal movies in some time and they still hold up. Dracula has a somewhat weak and nonsensical climax but the rest of the movie is darn good and must have been a real shock to the system when it came out. Dracula is really the only true "monster" of the Universal greats and he makes it known early. Lugosi's take is very much a monster playing at being a man to get what he wants. It's all about exerting control in one way or the other way and it makes for a fairly interesting film.

October 9th: Frankenstein
Vudu

Whew, still deserving of all the praise it gets and then some. Clive doesn't get much to work with once he gets pulled back from the brink which is unfortunate since he nailed the mad scientist so well but this is Karloff's movie so maybe it doesn't matter all that much. A much more well-rounded film than Dracula and I can totally see why my dad had to leave the theatre when he saw it as a kid. That said, that Frankenstein dummy at the end is so so bad.

October 10th: Creature From the Black Lagoon
Vudu

I remember not being that fond of this when I first saw it but on this viewing it's really quite good. Good dialogue, strong cast of characters, great underwater shots, and that shot of the Creature when he's trapped in the cage is still creepy as hell. And of course Julia Adams was just gorgeous. Just a really well-made film from top to bottom.

#16 Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! (1989)

This time it's a full film sequel but somehow worse than the half film part 2 was. I'll give them kudos for an unusual idea, throwing in a psychic and a Frankenstein plot. It starts okay but most of the characters are so flat they can't carry the weak action. The best bit becomes watching Robert Culp, who looks like he should be Bruce Campbell's dad, and Dr Fakenstein drive for ages having weird conversations about car phones.

Another cursed phone/app flick from Italy but it still doesn't manage to do anything of value with the premise. It sort of flirts with some neat ideas, like how the women in the movie use sex to get a hold of phones to transfer the curse to, but none of it is really explored in any meaningful way. I still say a horror movie focused on a cell phone/social media app could work but at this point the well might be too poisoned for it to ever matter. Countdown might still be the best of the bunch but that was more of a horror-comedy than anything.

Decent. Sorta light on the horror and was more of a thriller in my opinion. Really messed up premise.

Kind of a weird film tonally that goes from kinda campy more towards the start but then seems to try and turn on a super serious note. There's one character who purposely encapsulates this as he is the most over the top scene chewer but suddenly has some VERY gruesome and attempted emotional scenes. It's got some fun effects but is kinda all over the place tonally and with so many characters. Pretty average vampire flick.

I'm working on catching up. 7-9:

WNUF Halloween Special - The retro vibe is spot on. It reminds me a lot of when I was up at all hours of the night as a kid and got to watch TV. I really got a kick out of the "dial-a-monster" line. I remember Freddy Kreuger having one during Halloween. IMO, it tries a little too hard with the retro stuff, but the story was interesting and the filler left a lot of room for breathing and taking quick breaks.

Color Out of Space - it's like watching a car accident before it goes down. Nick Cage has been in some crazy stuff lately, so I felt pretty prepared. However, as things moved along, I kind of watched the time pass and was kinda wondering if it would be a little more subtle, but nope! The last third is nuts. It was a pretty enjoyable watch. Having Tommy Chong in it as bit part was a nice bonus.

Santa Jaws - Interesting idea, flawed and hokey execution. It didn't make a lot of sense at times, but it's supposed to be from a teen's point of view.

I'm currently watching Demons. About half way in and it's fun so far. I get a kick out of the punk guy who has a sardine can tab or something as an earring.

Night shift nurse taking part in human organ harvesting has a weird night.

While theres some good kills and such, I felt there was no "horror" part thus defeating why I took the movie in the first place. Overall still a average-to-good watch. i giggled here and there but figured the "intrigue" way too soon, I'm sure I've seen that same thing happen in something else.

French movie where there's a Home invasion by a weird mangled deranged girl. you find out why, and more.

This one is weird, beautiful, dark, and twisted, I don't want to say more about the story because it is so much better going in cold. It made me recoil more than once in shock, what VERY FEW movies have been able to do. I Recommend everyone (maybe like 16+) to watch this one, it is a great movie.

- it said horror but if anything it is a drama with comedic aspect to it, just like 12h, i'm kind of tired of people putting the horror tag on everything. -
It's about a psychiatrist for marines coming back from vietnam, letting them act out what his patient thinks they are.

while i enjoyed this movie, It had no horror part to it. At best some disassociated personality type thing that might have not been experienced with before on film (I don't think that it's the case but to me that is the only reason why it could be called horror) It is pretty funny however, it has very clever jokes and visual gags. but it is sadly not what i wanted to watch. bizarre at best, not scary, still good.

I'm trapped in sequel hell. I knew this would be bad but not this bad. Even they knew it was bad when it takes the worst element of the third film, über zombie soldiers, and plays it with all the class of Return of the Killer Tomatoes. But instead of rolling with that style it keeps going through the motions of trying to be a good film and the pretence that there is any tension. Plus all of the gags fell flat. The main cast is a cringey millennium era pop rock scooby gang. I've got the next film lined up and am not looking forward to it. Do I need to even mention that the zombies are slow now. FFS. Just laugh through the tears.

Got this a little bit ago and decided to wait to watch. It gets a lot of flack online but honestly it isn't bad. It's well directed, well acted, and the premise is solid. Much like Frankenstein Created Women it could have to stood to get a little darker and a little weirder but it still works. And man, Cushing is still killing it here despite being almost 60 and playing the role for a sixth time. A damn professional through and through. With a few tweaks and bigger budget this could have been really special.

#17 Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis (2005)

I loved the first one, are any of the sequels worth watching ?

I got to #11 today: Deep Murder. I watched it because it had Jerry O'Connell and Joe Piscopo in it. It has some decent humorous moments, but it felt like a slog. I would've liked it way more if it was trimmed down a bit. It was only 85 minutes, but it felt like at least 2 hours.

This one lives up to the tagline. It's cliche in the best possible way. Just a simple slasher that doesn't try to do 50 swerves or overcomplicate itself. It just gives you a creepy setting, a nice varied cast of people to get killed, a creepy ass killer, and fantastic gory practical effects kills. I had a great time!

The Ninth Configuration (1980)

MV5BMDBjM2JjOWUtYmJjNy00MWMyLTk4MmEtOTBlOGUyZDZlMWE3XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTI3MDk3MzQ@._V1_.jpg

Fright Night (1985)

Neighbour is a vampire, the movie.

I might be coming to this movie a bit late, found it to be quite basic, albeit quite fun. I'm not sure if I'm watching it too late in my movie experience tho. I enjoyed the movie, just felt very... average 80's horror to me, maybe in '85 it felt fresher tho.

Secrets in the Walls (2010)

Lifetime horror movie ? about a mother and her two daughter getting a really really good deal on an old haunted house that I would totally still buy.

it was surprisingly OK. they sadly show the ghost too often and for too long leaving little to the imagination, that would be my only gripe with the movie. there are really good moments in this movie but the movie still felt like a very average ghost/haunting type movie.

The Vanishing (1993)

Kiefer sutherland's girlfriend, the ever lovely Sandra Bullock, vanished during vacations right after a small thing problem. Kiefer descends to obsession as the guy who did it watches.

It's a drama more than anything else with like 2% horror at the end. The actors themselves were the better part of the movie. the movie itself was long and the payoff was not worth it IMO. I don't know why it was under horror.

3 is the best sequel IMO. A bit cheesy with the military stuff but the rest of it is alright and quite gory because of Brian Yuzna. It was a different take on zombie films at the time.

2 had much more comedy in it, got quite silly, and that was why I didn't like it much.

Nothing lives up to the first one - it's one of my all time faves. And gets the balance between tongue in cheek, tension, action and fun, spot on.

I've lost track on how many horror movies I've watched this month so far. Haven't really been participating, sorry.

Anyways, watched 3 last night:

best Iranian vampire Western I've ever seen. seriously tho, this movie is pretty great. strongly recommend it.

was randomly browsing Netflix and decided to throw this one. had extremely low expectations, it exceeded those extremely low expectations. I've been on a recently apartment horror movie kick, watched Polanski's Rosemary's Baby and The Tenant this past week. obviously no where nearly as good as Polanski film, it was still somewhat entertaining compared to a lot of the garbage you an find browsing Netflix's horror section

images

not sure if I can really classify this as horror. would make a good double feature with Snowpiercer. somewhat entertaining if you are into dystopian thrillers. wouldn't recommend it if you aren't a fan of that specific genre. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it.

not bad! not really horror, but it had a neat atmosphere. lots of talent in it too - kate beckinsale, michael caine, david thewlis, ben kingsley.... story felt a bit ho hum, but there were some decent twists and turns!

I went in blind on this one and it was brutal. No point trying to make sense of it. It's a nightmarish experience. The plot is thin but well made and visually impressive. Good film. A mashup of exploitation and chiller.

Blood Rage (1987)

Ah a nice trashy slasher with twins - one good and one evil, of course. You know the drill, throwaway victims, questionable humour and people doing supremely dumb things that are occasionally stupid enough to be funny. It threatens to become tedious at certain points but still manages to be entertaining and the whole thing leads to a pretty oddball ending.

I'd say there were 3 aspects that stood out to me. Louise Lasser giving a wacky performance where her character becomes increasingly crazy, some surprisingly decent gore effects for a cheapo slasher like this and of course the score, which is some really fun 80s horror synth.

I think this "theme" may actually be the entire score and they just chopped up all the unique sections of the song and looped them. =P Not a standout slasher but entertaining enough, especially if you've already seen all the usual fare and want more of the same but different.

I liked the first one, it was like Home Alone with horror
This one is different, looks like a parody of first one, there's good deaths, some good scenes, but they exagerated on a lot of stuff, not good as prequel, but it's funny, worths a watch, but could be better if follows the first one

Back at it again with my usual bad reviews!

Body Snatchers (1993)

mind control alien type thing on an army base

Competent movie about the subject that brings little to the table, but has a good tense vibe and acceptable actors, I didn't feel bored during the watch. it was a passable use of like 1h 20min, but I won't feel the need to watch it again, It is just very average.

Grabbers (2012)
Shuma-Gorath looking monsters attack a fishing village in Ireland, or just Ireland -I'm pretty sure the whole of Ireland is a consortium of fishing village- luckily to fight them they gotta be drunk

I was pretty sure I watched that last year but i didn't see it in my last year's posting, I'm having deja vu but I'll keep on watching, unsure if it was that movie I saw or any other Irish movie.. [it was.]
That re-watch was fine, but sadly remembered where and what the scares were. still enjoyed the humor of the movie and dumb action.

Night of the Demons 2 (1994)

Cute girls and some boys go to the same funeral house as the first night of the demons on Halloween night, nothing wrong can ever happen.

Very traditional teen horror movie with tons of exposed perky mammary glands, just how i like them! I thought it lacked the diversity of action and kill the first one had, where you see some of the same type of kills 2 or 3 times. the end to that movie is really dumb, "jump kick to create a cross shaped opening on a boarded window to kill a lamia type thing with the sun" level of dumb. mostly enjoyable but was getting quite repetitive towards the end.

That's it for my evening watch. will try to find more of young Christi Harris or Christine Taylor, those two are so fine in that movie.

I mean it's mostly a rehash of the first with a super conveniently quiet doll and rules that have no consistency...but I liked it! It's more of a continuation but the doll is still creepy and the kid is just as bad of an actor the second time around. I enjoy the older sister dynamic and there's some funny situational humor that lets Chucky crack a one-liner or two. All in all its a fun time despite being a repetitous.

A shy, lonely film buff embarks on a killing spree against those who browbeat and betray him, all the while stalking his idol, a Marilyn Monroe lookalike.

It's a good premise, the kind of movie that you think will be awesome, but didn't
There's a lot of reference of old movies and Hollywood, horror, the 80's feeling, these are great things about the movie, but the main character could be more developed and the plot could be better
But it's a good enternainment at the end

As if I would stop at barely 32.

Following night of the demons 2, where i fell in love with Christi Harris, I rummaged through the confines of the internet to finally find this movie.

Night of the Scarecrow (1995)
Scarecrow comes to life after a drunk dude rams into some kind of slab in front of it with some farming tractor he stole, I could swear it's one of the franco on the tractor.

Very generic but entertaining horror movie, glad I could see more of the lovely Christi Harris, sadly had a smaller role in here. otherwise there is some fun horror visuals, nothing out of the ordinary, theres a cool backstory to the scarecrow and all, the straw kill made me burst out laughing because of how ridiculous it is. I really liked this one for some reason.

Campfire Tales (1997)
Originally picked this movie for more Christine Taylor But Jacinda Barrett (as pictured) stole my heart on this one.
Anthology of 4 stories all of them as original as a loaf of sliced white bread they go as follow :
-Hook-man with the 2 teens in a car.
2nd one was the most "original",
-couple on honeymoon in a RV, no more gas, hubby has to go out and get some, wife finds hubby hung and eviscerated morning come
-Internet predator, ends up with the dog is dead but something licked my hand.

-mute girl, ends up being a ghost decapitated by her father because she had a boy over.

Everything in that movie felt reheated, while leftovers are sometimes appreciated, when all of them are of poor quality or unoriginal they can leave you on your appetite...such is the case here. Nothing I've seen in this movie brought anything new or better than what I've seen previously. skip this one guys. (expect if you want to see Jacinda Barrett, She is so lovely.)

Fade to Black (1980)

Same premise as rao.d.luffy rao.d.luffy Said, movie didnt change between then and now.

Maybe not "awesome", but I really liked the movie, it was entertaining, liked the cinematography and various call backs to movies I've seen and many I didnt, but none I didnt recognize. The delusional kid has an interesting arc to his character desending to madness and I would've done the same to his "aunt" . Movie was gorgeous and felt fresh. Would recommend the watch.

Have a good watch tonight boys, signing off for tonight !

Not sure how this one slipped by for so many years but damn is it fun. One of the silliest and most relentlessly paced ones I've seen this year as it basically plays out as an extended chase scene the entire back half. Warwick Davis goes straight to 11 and stays there the whole movie jumping and driving and riding his way to one kill after another. Simple and fun and cheesy in all the best ways!

Such a fun movie. And what'sherface is smoking hot in it too. Honestly even the sequels aren't that bad in the context of the franchise. The "in da hood" ones in particular are some of my favorites from the franchise. So cheesy and fun.
