I have a buddy in Edmonton that started with them about a month ago. You can post what you're looking for and I can link him to this topic and get him to e-mail me his response.

I just thought we had someone here that worked in tech support.

I'm hjaving some kind of cooling problem with my XPS Gen 3, and I'd much rather talk to someone online about it before I try and explain the problem to someone I can't understand (and I really don't mean any disrespect to any Indian GAFfers, it's just that I have a hard time on the phone when speaking to someone with an accent.)

The problem is that the fans kick on extremely loud whenever I go to do anything with the PC, and they're generally very loud. There was a huge thread about this at the Dell forums, and the problem seems to be that the heatsink wasn't properly attached on the XPS 3 systems, causing the fans to kick on whenever the CPU is being used much. It also usually ends up causing some damage to the CPU itself, so Dell just seems to send a tech out with a whole new CPU and heatsink.

I know the XPS systems are supposed to have some special kind of tech support, but I can't find my paperwork, so I don't know if there's some special number I have to call or anything.

I used to work for Dell tech support, I can't help with this specific problem, but I can tell you that you don't need any specific paper work to get help with your problem. The Service Tag that's on your system (usually found on the back or side of the system) gives them all the information they need.

Also, they DO have non-outsourced call centers for tech support for american calls, so if you really have that much of a problem talking to Indian tech support because of the accent, you can always just hang up and try calling again... chances are after a few tries, you'll get one of the american or canadian reps.

So there's no special number for the XPS tech support?

There is, fucked if I can remember it.. however, if you call the general tech support line, it'll ask for your express service code (the all numerical code on the side or back of your case), and the automated system will put you through to the proper folk.

Thanks for the help.
