Apple announces Apple Watch

Why the fuck would I pick this over the delicious Moto watch with a round watch face?

This looks like a kid's toy.

Yikes. That is not a product that would have been released under steve jobs

lol looks fucking disgusting.

Nobody is winning with smartwatches yet. So ugly.

The crown mixed with touch seems awful too.

hmm. its losing me

Save up, and go to a nice jewelry store. Buy say a Breitling. Look like your 35 not 10 and take care of it and wear for your life.

This looks ugly like hell. Google wins.

Fiercely ugly.

Apple missed the point of watches being men's jewelry.

I think that about covers it. Yikes. Apple, u dun goofed.

This will fail. Not because people don't need it - many unnecessary electronics sell well. It will fail because a watch is primarily a individualized fashion statement, so you will look like a tool wearing it. I honestly believe they needed a minimum of 5 distinct varieties for this to become extremely popular. I personally wanted it to look like this:

My father gave me this iWatch, son. He carried it with him in the Ukrainian Interventionist War in 2015.

It only has iOS 8 on it, but it meant the world to him. You can even see his archived tweets.

"I hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass for two years."

Someone photoshop Christopher Walken holding the iWatch

This promo makes the watch look a lot better. The pics in the OP don't do much for it....I pretty much agreed with everyone else when I saw it.

I think the design looks fine and the functionality looks more than acceptable, but the iPhone requirement and price will kill this thing dead.

I was actually going to get a Galaxy Gear 2 Neo for the sole reason that you can put a Pip-Boy theme on it. Now that Apple is getting into the smart watch game maybe it'll increase support for Android smart watches.

so you wanted it round rather than rectangular.

It seems like the type of thing younger people might like, but the price and iphone requirement seems a bit steep. But maybe that will just make even more younger folks aspire to it.

However past a certain age, I'm not sure who would want to be seen with a smartwatch like this. They look like toys in a certain sense, still - not sure what Apple was thinking putting imagery out with a Mickey Mouse face etc which just hammered home that image to me. Watches have an established role in people's lives as status and fashion symbols, particularly past a certain age like I say. I've a hard time seeing wealthier, slightly older professionals wearing one of these on business for example. Oddly, though, their utility might have made them more useful to that kind of market than the younger market that might end up being the making of them.

Of course, I invite looking terribly stupid if Apple has another uber hit on their hands :P

edit - oh wow. I posted the above thinking it was $299

Yup. I made a topic with those pics several months back. A lot of people liked the concept, and others hated it. I would have def. picked one up had it looked remotely close to this.

I really, really don't get it.

I haven't worn a watch in years, but if I did, I'd choose a classic-looking analog watch. I don't want something like this on my wrist. I read the features, but don't get exactly what this DOES.

Like if I bought this watch, what would I do with it?

$350

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Wow, this just makes me even more impressed with Motorola. The 360 (physically) looks far, far better than this.

I was genuinely creeped out by the amount of sexual imagery in that reveal trailer.

Left the stream imagining that I had just watched something Apple fanboys are literally masturbating over.

Why can't these smart watches or fitness bands measure cycling properly. I don't run.

You can fix that yourself.

Ooh the video on the verge shows that it sweeps the second hand like an automatic (or high frequency quartz). So far i've only seen the LG G R and Asus watches do this, and the 360 definitely doesn't.

Pretty cool. Watch lovers will not mind paying $350 and up to add it to their rotation. I myself was planning to buy either the LG or Asus (and maybe the 360) and then this one from Apple but with the iphone requirement I can't be arsed to swap SIMs anymore.

I don't understand this. It looks like the Nano watch which actually looks better. And also way cheaper.

The next logical step in converting humans to cyborgs: wearable computers. Google Glass and Apple Watch (why not iWatch?, or does that sound like some voyeuristic thing) are the first steps in converting citizens to programmable machines.

Kidding.

Or am I?

It's weird how people are shocked at the price. It's Apple for starters and I don't think the $350 tag is anything that will stop people from buying it.
