I've never used anything other than a microfiber cloth. That's all you need.
Damp or dry? I've been debating whether or not to use the screen cleaner that came with my TV but I'll just opt for a new microfiber cloth to avoid any complications. I used that cleaner on my iPhone a while ago with mixed results.

Don't ever use a wet cleaner. You could ruin the oleophobic coating. Just wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. It will look as good as new.

I hope you're talking iPad classic. Otherwise get yourself a smart cover. The thing cleans it like a beast. The inside is microfiber. Give it a couple of wipes and it looks shiny and new, not a smudge or print in sight.

Easiest to do squeegee style, just keep it folded up in it's triangle and wipe away.

Aside from the microfiber for the glass, you can use a water-damp cloth for the aluminum back, to get rid of any grime that may have been picked up.

That's it. It's super easy to clean.

euro launch in 3 days.... no email yet from apple. :/ this isn't going to go well.

It is strange how little information is out about it. I asked in store and they said its still on for Friday (I'm working till 5 that day so I have zero chance for release day though).

Don't worry dudes, there wasn't much info out prior to US launch. Was a day or two before.

Just get wherever you're going 2 hours early and you'll be fine. Either you wait before or after the store opens, your choice.

If you guys don't intend on waiting in line for long hours, be up at 1AM.

Are there any back cases compatible with the smart cover?

Also, just found this one:

Grove Made Cases

It uses magnets to sleep/wake the iPad 2 exactly like the Smart Cover.

I just tried this, and man, it works like a champ. Awesome.

Red smart cover has 3 to 4 week deliver date. Fuuuu U apple store. On another note good luck overseas gaf. Best bet is to avoid the apple store unless you want to spend the entire day there. Best bet find the largest oldest electronic store by your home. Case in point bestbuy by my apartment got 200 in while the one I went to which was newer only got 50. Sales volume of the store determines the amount of ipads they get. So good luck.

Apple doesn't charge your card until your iPad ships, right? I'm breaking and just ordering from Apple.com :(

The silver lining is that my job has a purchase program w/Apple, so i'm getting a white 32gb and a green smart cover for $623 tax-free.

edit: not tax free. $666 :(

What's up with the inconsistent UI/input methods? Some apps have a keyboard with an @ on the first page, some don't, some keyboards let you switch to the next field by hitting 'next', while missing from others. The most annoying thing for me is that new apps won't recognize screens locked in landscape, always defaulting to portrait mode. And how can apps get away with not even honoring your choice of display orientation for login or signup screens.

If there's one area I would expected more from the iPad it's gotta be the UI, but so far it's somewhat messy. On second though, that's just like OSX ;)

Oh and how can I stop safari from automatically switching to the search field after launching the browser? Most useless, time wasting feature ever.

Loving the smart cover though, brilliant on Apple's part.

I feel like Apple.com trolled me by shipping my Smart Cover first. :lol

Sorry, not battery indicator. The iPhone has a usage time (in hours) under the general -> about section. Am I missing something?
No not missing anything. The iPad does not have a total usage indicator.

I think this guy doesn't understand what the iPad 2 is. It's the best device for portability and moving away from a laptop. I know the 'iPad: Year One' video was bordering on propaganda, but a laptop could not have been put into any of those situations due to both the form factor and the software. The idiot who wrote that either is too ignorant to recognise this platform, or is simply arrogant enough to believe he is right. Probably both.

Also: no multitasking? And since when was iTunes bad to use?

since a long time ago.

and no before anyone says it i'm not buying a mac just to get the "better" itunes experience.

But that writer has clearly missed what the iPad is and isn't.

even as a mac user i'm not too happy with itunes overall. performs great on the mac, but i'm still not a fan of the way the syncing works and files are handled.

Has he even used an iPad? Seems to be in the camp of "I'm happy with what I use now" and I can understand that... but complaining that it doesn't have a CD/DVD burner? Does anyone use those anymore? :D

It's Dvorak-level curmudgeonly.

I never even thought to do this with it!

Bye bye vertical lines!

I've been using iTunes since the day it was launched and I'm a first gen iPod owner and never had a problem with it. I don't know why iTunes gets a bad rap. It's always worked great for me.

itunes is shit. I hate that software more than words can express.

Same here. My satisfaction with using iTunes and an iPod on Windows was what led me to switch to a Mac.

+1

I've loved iTunes since I got my first iPod, a mini, and I kept using it even when I was out of it (the iPod broke).

Incredible software.

Most criticisms I hear or read is from people that didn't care to spend 5 minutes to learn how it works.
